  1. Public Transit is very unusable on holidays that the gov, schools and local cities, control. They just might as well force all business to close down for those days as one wastes hours trying to get around.
  2. Kenworth and Peterbilt Assembly plants in Renton Washington now have dedicated lines producing CNG Semi's. I believe that more cities will push to remove diesels from the road of the inner city streets and require either electric or CNG. Many cities on the west coast have plans to be fully alternative fuel / powertrains by 2018 with no more diesels. I know Buffet is pushing to convert the trains to CNG, Long Haul trucks will be a much slower change.
  3. Haze is a pretty cool theme, I like it. I did also test Mobil and had to hunt to change it back, it was a bit weird on a computer. Thank Drew.
  4. Bummer, GMC Really needs a good Halo auto and it needs to either be a new updated Syclone or Typhoon!
  5. I disagree with you Hyper, it makes perfect sense, if an auto company wants to drop the franchises and move to a delivery / repair style of store, then why not have them buy back what will become their own retail chain. They could do this over time state by state and turn all the dealerships into delivery centers with service. This could be a very profitable way for them to drop the required Franchise and have better up to date delivery centers. Yes they would have a select group of auto's on the lot for those that drop in to buy but most people could order up online and then pick up the auto when ready after being built.
  6. I agree with you that Cadillac needs Hybrid series and diesels, but while I have liked the Straight 6 engines, they are not superior to the V class engines. Also with Electric motors getting better and better, the time is coming to move to small form factor engines / generators that work in support of an electric powertrain.
  7. OK SMK you have to clearly state some REAL FACTS TO JUSTIFY a almost $50K dollar car that cannot even cover a single days commute unless you only live in the city. This car is like a Prius Using pure electric mode for 19 miles and then combined electric / gas engine. Sad is they showed this in the S550e and MB even states they are using the same Hybrid system in all 10 of their new hybrid auto's. So their cheap ass Chevy version of a hybrid is the same as their superior S class. So yes the S550e gets a V6 where the C350e gets a 2 liter 4 banger. MBG should have at least made the auto's with a decent battery pack to cover 30-40 miles, then at least you have a proper commute covered for people. To me, MB Hybrid strategy is showing how cheap they are becoming to try and sell in every market everywhere and clearly they have no real technology to compete against what Toyota or GM is doing. I am thinking the German days of technology might be coming to an end especially due to the over paid kill a business unions of that Country.
  8. We'll I have not even hit middle age yet so I do not consider myself old, but I do love to drive!
  9. Great Questions, we do know that auto companies must partner with Chinese companies to produce a certain amount of product in the market and then you have the pirate auto companies that make cheap knock off's of these auto's. Volvo now being Chinese owned is essentially the only luxury car maker I know of in China. I agree with you that it would be interesting to know. Anyone have any solid sales facts on Chinese versus foreign auto company sales and production numbers?
  10. Thanks for posting, very enjoyable checking it out.
  11. Agree on why is this badged what it is. Bigger question is why with a battery pack that is half the size of the VOLT. Why not give it a better size battery to at least have 40-50 miles on Pure electric? BMW is also doing the same thing, less HP and Torque at this version but the 328e is supposed to get 22 miles per pure charge. Not sure why German thinking is so limited on the Pure Electric range.
  12. Very interesting comments in regards to the comparison between Audi and BMW. The world will tell soon enough when they finally bring this FWD auto to the masses. If done right and the Commodore customers are happy then they will have delivered.
  13. Top Gear just did an update as they reviewed last years C350 Plug-in and so they posted these details about the Detroit info from MB. DRIVETRAIN SPECIFICATIONS Internal combustion engine Number of cylinders/arrangement 4 in-line Mixture formation High-pressure injection, 1 turbocharger Displacement (cc) 1991 Rated output 208 HP @ 5,500 RPM Rated torque 258 LB-FT Electric motor Output (kW) max. 60 Torque 251 LB-FT System output (kW/hp) 205/279 System torque 442 LB-FT Acceleration 0-62 mph (s) 5.9 (6.2) Top speed (km/h) 250 (246) Top speed electric (km/h) 130 Fuel consumption (combined) from (l/100 km) 2.1 (2.1) Combined CO2 emissions from (g/km) 48 (49) Efficiency class A+ Electric range (km) 31 Total battery capacity (kWh) 6.2 Charge time 10%-100% (230/8 A -16 A), 1.8-3.7 kW(h) 1.75 – 3.5 So 31 km range equals 19.3 miles. Supposed to go on sale in the US at just under $50,000 dollars. I personally think this is a Joke and waste of money. Clearly they need a better battery solution and Top Speed says they believe it will only be around 100 MPG rather than the MB market speech of 134.5 MPG based on current testing of their hybrids.
  14. So from a Marketing / Sales stand point. What can we create to fill a need to make money on. Perfect for those that should not be driving or cannot drive we have a self driven auto. Customer: Blind Narcoleptic paralyzed those not wanting to drive for various reasons. So I can see the ideas and reasons for this, yet we also need to do one thing. Acknowledged that Driving is a PRIVILEGE not a RIGHT! Biggest problem to distracted driving is the politicians who have pushed allowing driver license testing to be done in various languages and giving a person who cannot communicate with the local emergency responders / police the ability to drive when they are not prepared. Driving is a PRIVILEGE you EARN! We need tougher drivers training courses which can install the responsibility of not being distracted by cell phones, movies on entertainment systems, etc in an auto. If you do not want to bother with driving or enjoy it, then take the bus, taxi or get a self driving car. Yet before we push self driving auto's out on the public before their time, we really should look at fixing our system on how you learn to drive and the responsibility that comes along with driving.
  15. G. David Felt Alternative Fuels & Propulsion writer www.CheersandGears.com C350 PLUG-IN HYBRID MERCEDES-BENZ C350 PLUG-IN HYBRID The C350 Plug-In delivers 134.5 MPG, CO2 emits only 48 g/km and 19 miles is how much it can travel on electric power alone. So the question for this introduction at the Detroit Autoshow: Is it worth it? Does it make sense to have an auto that has so limited electric range as a plug-in even though with generator you can say you average 134.5 MPG? The best part of this is it makes the Chevy VOLT a Bargain that is superior to this MB. What are your thoughts? Would you spend money on this car?
  16. Please Snap a Photo of these sell running Caddies! I agree for those motorist who would rather be on Facebook over paying attention to driving it would be great and let the auto cars be programmed to always stay to the right. Let those of us that love to drive drive.
  17. I hope with the refreshed Terrain, they bring back an AWD Typhoon Edition.
  18. We'll this should sell better than their first attempt with the Maybach name. Wonder if it will take the same 50% depreciation hit that they tend to do so fast.
  19. Simple, if the MFG's want to go retail like Tesla, then they have to purchase out the franchises for a fair market price and run them as delivery / repair centers only.
  20. Not until I am forced to as I love to drive.
