  1. 7.29 million?, should that be billion? Either way, VW is going to see a big dark drain on their money and I expect this to hit 20 Billion + to make this right and eventually go away. I think VW will have to change internally as well as cut other places as well.

  5. Saw a new Mercedes-Benz GLA250 today and had a chance to walk around it at the park n ride before the bus came. Talk about cheap looking, cheap assembly. The gaps were all over and the interior was anything but special. Reminds me of the traditional plastic Toyota Corolla style. Guess MB really has gone toyota bland with their entry level models.
  6. The 2016 refresh gives the SS a more aggressive front clip and functional hood vents. This still looks very placid, this is not what an SS should look like. It is a nice sedan for true, but an SS should have a more aggressive look.

Interesting that the WSJ is reporting that 2 engineers are behind this, http://www.wsj.com/articles/vw-emissions-probe-zeroes-in-on-two-engineers-1444011602 Very good read, but seems they both promised the now gone CEO that they could deliver a Green Diesel for the US market and their lies are being pointed at that caused everything else to happen.

  9. Flowmaster is good but noisier in comparison to Magnaflow. If you do not want to have the harmonic drum of noise in the cab then go with Magnaflow as the last time I checked they made sure that the harmonic drum noise did not get into the cab.
  10. WOW, just a software update, so they will stop using the High pressure and reduce the performance of the auto so they do not have to replace the drive pulley shaft. Sounds like Cheapness over profits by Honda. Corporate Greed at it's best rather than quality to the customer.

This is hard to say as the west coast now that Oregon and Washington have adopted and follow the same regulations as California the cities are pretty clean with the buses being electric, CNG or Hybrid Diesel. You no longer have the black clouds for the most part, even dump trucks are having to clean up and many of the delivery semi's are now CNG. So this is very much based on where you live and the regulations in place by the local state, county, city and National gov levels. Over all, I have to say that Diesel at least here in America has cleaned up nicely. Yet still room to improve IMHO.

  15. Sweet Review and you hit is head on, I wish for a bit more dynamic in the body, hood, etc. This is an SS after all. It should have forced ram air in the hood and some other tweaks to say do not mess with me.
  16. From what I understand, there will be a Chevrolet Class 4 (4500) and International will get a Class 5 (5500) vehicle. I'd imagine Chevy will want a 5500 model too, and may be the next offering. I don't think there will be 6500 and 7500 models, unless this product becomes very successful quickly. 2018 seems like a really long time for this product to come out, and I don't like that GMC will not receive a 4500/5500 product. This model will replace the current model International TerraStar - both GM & International will offer a vehicle on this platform, not sure if GM is sharing cabs and powertrains with Intenational or if International will have their own cabs and powertrains. I understand that like many who have asked why not GMC? Yet I also understand the business point of making GMC the Truck Luxury end as to why Cadillac will not have a Luxury truck anymore. Focus on building a strong commercial line through one dealer and let the other have the higher end luxury business. Will be interesting to see where GMC / Buick dealers end up in the next few years. I always loved and still do the GMC Professional Grade, but I can see the GMC/Buicks as being the luxury line of trucks SUV's over Chevy. This also does not mean that GMC will not eventually get commercial trucks again. Only time will tell.
  17. Very much an East Coast Problem as the West Coast uses Hydro. Very green for us. My house is supplied by wind energy and it's slightly cheaper per kwh than the default coal/nuke selection. Also, Tesla's supercharger stations are usually fed or offset by solar. All of the Tesla's Supercharger stations in the Pacific Northwest are supplied by either Hydro, Solar or wind. Very green indeed. Yet that is why you have your petrol powered auto for the long road trips and the Bolt for the daily commute to work. Just like you could have your EV Pickup Truck for daily commute to work and local errands and still have your TDI for enjoyable Weekend Trips and vacation drives.

  19. At 6'6" tall near 200lbs, I am not a small person and I have tried to fit into that list of yours. The only two I could get into to drive was the Honda Fit and Chevy Spark. The others were DOA on trying to get in. Push the chair all the way back and I still could not get into them. Between the Fit and Spark, I would take the Spark, much better design language. But I would rather walk than own any of these auto's or like you state, buy an older bigger auto.

GM is excited to expand and grow their commercial line of trucks as they add to the fleet lineup of crossovers, vans, trucks and medium duty trucks. I used to think everything should go Diesel till I saw the benefits of CNG and now with Batteries getting where they need to be, I see over the next 10 years auto's going EV as we gain 200 to 500 mile range packs with quick chargers. I can see the US going away over the next 10-20 years from petrol, diesel, CNG, etc in a move to Electric. CNG replacing Coal in power plants, Ferries and Long haul trucks on LNG, even container ships on LNG, days of bunker fuel, diesel, petrol will come to an end down the road but not now. Chevy Bolt I have High Hopes for. And the winner in Looks is the CHEVY BOLT!
  22. until you get 500 mile battery packs with level 3 quick charges and then Diesel is lost as the Electric motor proven by the trains in the yards is far more Torque and cleaner. Now before you go off and say but trains are using diesel generators to drive those electric motors, true, but also true is that as Perot and Buffett have bought up the train companies and merged them, they are also converting them over to CNG as a much cleaner fuel to then drive those electric motors, much the same way we are seeing Semi-Trucks go to CNG and LNG. Even Container shipping companies are moving over to LNG for a cleaner better fuel. It will take time to change over from Diesel, but long term diesel will fad away. But that does not stop us from enjoying the torquey little monsters today.
