  1. Add me at 48 years old as saying self driving auto's are for those that should never have been allowed to drive anyway as their facebook and twitter is more important to them than enjoying the thrill of driving. I have to wonder just how many new auto's are in my future as I am not a fan of all the safety crap that takes control of your auto and would rather enjoy driving a true auto with no self braking, self driving, etc.
  2. Actually, I don't think those "e-core"(as they are called, if I remember correctly) don't have the anti-drain valve. Those are the cheapest of the cheap. I would HOPE they would still use the regular PFXX filter if he's paying for an $80 oil change but that doesn't reall mean anything other than they could take an extra couple bucks by using the "e-core". Well I started a thread over at Bobistheoilguy.com because I'm on that forum as well.. I'll see if anybody has anything other than what I was thinking. Confirming or disproving. I wasn't guessing, I know they have the drain back valve. Like I said I have researched and made a thread somewhere about this. E-core on the left. Standard ACDelco in the middle. Premium filter (rebadged Mobil 1 EP) on the right. So I will admit that I use GM and AC Delco interchangeably. I am working from home today so I went out to check and sure enough on both vehicles, they have the blue AC Delco or what I call a GM filter on the. Was not aware of the black premium AC Delco filter. Will have to see if I can get that on the auto when I do the next oil change and see how that affects the morning tap.
  3. So other than the last sentence you drop MB and now just say Germans are better at everything, yet they built crap in the 70's, 80's and a portion of the 90's where they finally flipped into being the leader in the luxury segment. It takes time to build an Army and Cadillac is just getting going with quality products and time will grow and get bigger and better. You know that NO ONE even your Loved MB better than anything can build and turn out a product in only a few months or a year. It takes time to fill in all the nooks and crannies. So instead of pounding a dead drum, find something else to review and comment about rather than dragging out the same old post reworded over and over and over again.
  4. OUCH! Hate to say it but at this Point I suspect the EPA and other countries will stick it to VW. Expect much bigger fines now and I bet they will need anadditional 2-3 billion to settle this.
  5. I understand what you are saying, will look at some aftermarket filters and talk with the dealership more. Thank you
  6. That knocking sounds more like an oil filter issue not an oil issue. Cheap filters with cheap anti-drain back valves or none at all will allow more oil to drain back and you'll start your vehicle with little to no oil already in the system. What oil filter do you use? GM, My wife drives it mostly since I take the bus into work, so the local Cadillac dealership who also does my Escalade which also has the same knock does both Mobil 1 synthetic oil changes. $79 dollars everything else checked, washed, vacuumed and ready to go. The wife likes it so why bother with Grease monkey or Oil Can Henry. For the small difference, might as well keep it GM serviced. Not trying to be a jerk but that had nothing to do with what oil filter you're using. If it is their standard "pro" filter then it might not have any anti-drain back value. If it is the conventional one you can buy off any Walmart shelf then by the time you change your oil the valve may have wore out the slightest and allows oil to slowly drain over night while it is parked for extended periods. I understand what you are saying, I do know as I did crawl under both and check that they are stamped GM on the filters, so they are not a 3rd party filter, but the actual GM filter for the vehicle. Figure in todays world, might as well keep GM accountable for my auto.
  7. Isn't the vehicle basically 9/10ths of a half ton anyway? Fantastic freakin' mileage. And as a truck I think the low end would just be how a truck should be driven anyway. Trucks shouldn't have 7000rpm redlines but a boat load of torque under 3000rpm. Yes, I agree that while this is not a full size, it is about 8 to 9 tenths of the way there, close enough that this is a huge improvement. My gut tells me this is not only a rock solid product for this truck line, but a test bed of what they might bring to the full size line also.

  9. Based on these figures, updating the chart that was on the other web site we now see the Duramax versus Ecodiesel as follows: This Rocks!!!
  10. Rolls only exists for the 1/10 of 1% that can afford bloated over rated auto's like this. Course the Rappers also seem to love to waste money on these auto's. Reality, you as well as I know that the S series beats the Rolls as do many other 1% level luxury auto's. The next 10-15 years will be interesting to see who survives and who dies as I think with the Chinese coming on, we will see a glut of auto choices from the lowly sub sub compact to the ubber luxury and some will have to go into the history books as they cannot all survive.
  11. That is very cool to see, would like to see that along with the numbers for Mustang and Challanger. Always good to compare the Pony race side by side. Thanks for posting very cool indeed.
  12. Time to finish up work and break out the wine and chocolate! before or after your work out? LOL always Wine Down Friday at the end of the day, but then if the day is light, you know it is 5pm somewhere and if you worked the grave yard shift then this is 5pm and time to enjoy.
  13. The Viper is a Monster and could have done so many things right. FCA like so many of their auto's is unable to move the product forward with the times. As it is, this is a great run for a Gas Guzzling V10 Monster that few can own and few can actually fit in. Trust me I have tried and while I got in, it was hell to get out and I would NOT have been happy driving it in the uncomfortable position. This in comparison to the Corvette that I can fit in and actually drive. FCA wants a Halo car, then they need to look at the up and growing EV race scene and build the new viper as a true exotic Hyrbid or EV. Having been doing my research for a paper I will publish here in the near future about EV conversion, I have to say it is very easy to get 600HP with 1000lbs of Torque in an electric motor that gives you crazy acceleration. Having an EV Viper that can trash everyone else out there with a 200 mile battery pack would sell I believe and give FCA a New Halo Car that is Green.
  14. Interesting, but this is going to be a waste of time, GM V8s have had a knock for the last 15 years upon start up till the lubricants get through out the motor and common sense drivers just drive them easy till the engine warms up and everything works fine. Do I like hearing a knock when the engine is cold? NO Have I tried to get GM to address this knock? YES Plenty of threads out there on it and some people just say it is not right yet these engines do continue to run long life when breakin and proper change of the lubricants are done. Supposedly this is all part of the design that GM did and what is considered acceptable wear. My Trailblazer AWD SS has 60K mile on it, does not use a drop of oil and run fine other than the knock in the morning. Weird part is that the knock is almost gone when the Mobil 1 oil change is done and very noticeable when you get to 25% engine life but always goes away within a min or two of starting the car. I suspect that due to the close tolerances of the engine, during initial break-in they were changing the fluids every couple hundred miles and checking for contaminants and so the mules did not experience this issue, but like all things once in the wild, you get people who think they can just trash their engine in the first 1000 miles and not have things go wrong when it is all new and tight.
  15. Time to finish up work and break out the wine and chocolate!
  16. I would not buy one but it has that Soul like quality of being different that appeals to many people. If quality holds it should do well. I hate the tail lights as they look like the eyes of a dead cartoon figure. Very true the tail lights do remind me of dead cartoon characters but then anime and cartoons are big right now all over especially with Marvel Movies. What do you think about the trailer? Should GM do something like that for their twins?
  17. Guess if I had grown up playing sports it might be different, but when you are over 6 feet tall by 12 years old, you coordination sucks and my dad took me to a gym and I fell in love with body building. Arnold was the God Everyone looked up too. Plus my parents loved to camp so every weekend we took off on Friday afternoon and camped all over washington state and came home sunday night. Had a blast hiking, fishing and seeing the beauty of the state with my sisters and parents. Cannot ask for a better family bonding time. Glad all of you guys love the sports, after all someone has to pay their crazy paychecks. Have a good one.
  18. Personally I have only been luke warm to the Jeep Renegade with this being the best looking one I have seen. I also feel that not only should Jeep follow through with this accessory they should build and sell but I think GM should do this for the Colorado / Canyon twins.
  19. So if FCA is expecting to make a difference then they need to get working smarter as well as harder. The F side of this group is sucking big time! Alfa is NOT going to make their sales target of 160,000 auto's based on the pathetic sales listed so far. Sergio blaming the economy should not save his sorry pathetic ass from being fired.Take the money from C,D,J, & R and reinvest in those brands only. Kill off Alfa as it should have never been done in the first place. Alfa Romeo - N/A (54 Vehicles Sold This Month, 197 Vehicles Sold So Far This Year) Chrysler - Down 5% (27,250 Vehicles Sold This Month, 248,800 Vehicles Sold So Far This Year) Dodge - Up 3% (45,170 Vehicles Sold This Month, 382,347 Vehicles Sold So Far This Year) Fiat - Up 1% (3,398 Vehicles Sold This Month, 31,819 Vehicles Sold So Far This Year) Jeep - Up 40% (77,201 Vehicles Sold This Month, 632,910 Vehicles Sold So Far This Year) Maserati - Down 33.8% (872 Vehicles Sold This Month, 8,378 Vehicles Sold So Far This Year) Ram - Up 4% (39,946 Vehicles Sold This Month, 358,488 Vehicles Sold So Far This Year) For those that say the Alfa platform will allow better other auto's under other names. BS I call you out. They could have used that platform at Maserati and reproduced it out to the others.
  20. I love to Travel, Photography, Working out in the gym, Home Theater reviewing movies and auto's. I do love bowling and I have a wine collection that I enjoy with Chocolate.
  21. I always find it amazing how people can get so caught up in the so called professional sports, stats, etc. Baseball the so called American sport holds no interest to me and going to a game, they are just plain boring. Sorry guys, but I could care less about the teams and who wins what. Far better and more important things than overpaid guys playing a sport and having to pay for $10 beer.
  22. Viper was and still is a sharp looking auto, but the beast is outclassed by superior auto's like the corvette.
  23. Nice write up, have to say that I am not a fan of the center stack. Just looks weird, not a good flowing system. Looks like an after thought. They worked to build a good racer and then said oops, we need controls for the civil stuff. Also I agree that the color is less than desirable.
  24. Makes sense for the FWD/AWD auto maker to have a compact / subcompact entry. Glad to see they also are acknowledging the need for a plug-in hybrid. Pass on the self driving and other take over safety gear.
  25. Good Read, will say that the Ford is the best looking out of them and the Ram is the ugliest.
