  5. G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com Alternative Fuels & Propulsion in the News So the news has had some interesting stories this past few weeks in regards to GM and Honda getting closer as they co-develop Hydrogen auto's and self driving: http://www.hydrogenfuelnews.com/honda-and-gm-seek-to-expand-partnership-on-hydrogen-fuel-cells-and-driverless-vehicles/8525101/?utm_source=WW+Clean+Cities+News+Digest+--+October+20%2C+2015&utm_campaign=WW+Clean+Cities+News+Digest+--+October+20%2C+2015+&utm_medium=email According to the story, 2020 is the year that both GM and Honda will release for public purchase Hydrogen auto's and 2017 both plan to start selling driverless auto's. The future is near for those that cannot put down facebook or twitter to interact with the world and the planet they live on. The next story is from the green car report that shows that people who have EV's love em but would not buy them. Leasing is the way to go as the response is that auto companies will be making drastic updates on the EV's each year. The only exception to this is Tesla with their software updated system so people who bought one years ago can have the same software updates and features of the new ones. Currently the story states there are 7 EV's that lease for less than $200 a month for 36 months. The cheapest lease being the Fiat 500e which leases for $82.75 per month for 36 months. http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1100513_electric-car-drivers-love-em-but-dont-buy-em-why-leasing-rules?utm_source=WW+Clean+Cities+News+Digest+--+October+20%2C+2015&utm_campaign=WW+Clean+Cities+News+Digest+--+October+20%2C+2015+&utm_medium=email The final story is a very interesting one developing in Europe headed by Norway, where the governments push to have 50,000 EV's on the road by 2017 was reached in April of 2015 and as of September 2015 had reached 66,000. With the VW Diesel scandal it would seem Norwegians are taking advantage of the large government subsidy to buy EV's, especially Tesla's. They are also loving the government's free use of toll roads, free parking, free bridges and tunnels and free ferry tickets if you are an EV. With the average cost of charging an EV being only $1 and Petro at over $6 per liter, clearly with the high price of an auto in Norway, this kind of savings is having a big impact on getting people to go EV. Here is the current subsidies in Europe. Full story can be found here: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/17/business/international/norway-is-global-model-for-encouraging-sales-of-electric-cars.html?_r=1&utm_source=WW+Clean+Cities+News+Digest+--+October+20%2C+2015&utm_campaign=WW+Clean+Cities+News+Digest+--+October+20%2C+2015+&utm_medium=email
  6. Yes that is the Europe Cadillac BLS. As Drew says, that car will not die and now it will become the National Car of Turkey. Who says Cadillac is not a Global car of everyone!
  7. Why do we have to wait for craftsmanship and quality? The ATS and CTS promised to be as well built as the Germans and Cadillac said they would out perform the Germans. That didn't happen, the sales reflect it. I don't think the Cadillacs are overpriced, as I have said many times they are still priced below the Germans (and Lexus) but they aren't getting the sales. So something must be wrong. Personally, I think they could price the CTS-V at $49,995 and the E-class will outsell it 3-1. Horsepower per dollar isn't why Cadillac loses the battle, there are many reasons beyond that. On the CTS I think the engine comparisons are not as bad as with the ATS. The step up from the turbo 4 on all the German small cars and the Jaguar XE is a supercharged or Turbo Six, all those cars put out 320+ lb-ft of low end torque. That is where the 3.6 V6 is out gunned. The CTS has the V-sport which is good power for the money, but I think also rwd only. At some point Cadillac has to break the brand image problem. That needs done on powertrain, interior, build quality, warranty, dealer service, styling, number of model lines, halo cars, marketing, etc. It is multi-front battle they have to fight. A good example is Car and Driver just tested the Lincoln MKX, which was $63,000, and regardless of how good the product might be, why would anyone buy that over a Mercedes or BMW? Cadillac has the same problem, if you have $65,000 to spend, why not buy the German car, rather than a Cadillac and have to justify to people why you did it. Pure and Simple, Why send your hard earned money and jobs over to a country that if it had won WWII your grandfather would probably be dead and you would not exist. No apology to those that love German or Asian auto's, but I believe in the USA, Believe we need to keep the profits here and make sure my neighbor has a job too. Only through investing in our own production of products, keeping the profits here and demanding higher quality will we ensure the financial success of the US. Keep sending your money over seas and before you know it you could have no job due to the work being overseas at a lower price. The US needs to be competitive on quality, price, and originality to stand out. Stand Tall and Support your Country first where possible before sending your hard earned money over seas.
  8. Plus keep in mind that Japan is all about being a team player and not rocking the boat. Most employees would go along with their boss who says this is awesome, the best, etc. I doubt anyone was willing to rock the boat and go against the upper executives who seem to be fine with the style, name, ultra conservative blah style of forgettable auto's.
  9. Truly a parts car unless you have the money to invest in restoring it, but wow talk about the work. I just enjoy the old pic and pass. Good luck with doing that.
  10. Depends as with small auto's I have no problem with small engines, still not won over for turbo petro except for Turbo Diesels, my experience with turbo petro auto's shows they still will not go the distance in comparison to larger V6 or V8 engines. For trucks and full / mid size SUV's only V8. Nothing smaller has won me over for longevity of life and towing or a Diesel. I still see far more people complain about how the V6 in the trucks does NOT deliver MPG unless you baby it while driving. Real world testing of MPG needs to happen on all auto's rather than computer simulation or estimation based on select formulas. 11. Infinity problem starts with the name, there is nothing here to last for ever. They really do need a new reboot of name, badging, design language, etc.
  12. So 1967 is a VERY HARD year to choose just one auto. Daily Driver 1967 GMC Suburban Fall & Winter Weekend Driver 1967 GTO Spring & Summer Weekend Driver 1967 Camero Pace Car
  13. Yup Inheritance that should never have happened. What a waste of a nice SL on him. We'll the US and Canada have been screwed for more and less. Till term limits are in place and the gov's start to focus on the people and stop wasting time on trying to push agendas across the pond we will always be screwed.
  14. RIP, Canada is truly Screwed! What stupidity causes people to allow a class system to come back into existence.
  15. Happens to me all the time. Ive gotten many speeding tickets this way in which I just mash the peddle to get away from them as Im soooo bloody disgusted and mad and I dont want to be road ragin' because If I keep seeing them whether in front of me, beside me or in my rear view mirror, Id be ragin' and low and behold, a speed trap further down the highway...and if they would just be in the correct bloody lane to begin with...Id also be in the correct lane, yes left lane for me and right lane for them, Id be going the bloody speed limit to begin with therefore NO SPEEDING TICKET!!!! IM GLAD THAT IN CERTAIN STATES and in ONTARIO, they actually give tickets to people that are in the left lane but NOT going the maximum speed limit or passing anybody...but not in Quebec though....Quebec likes to be backwards! Washington state just passed a law that says you cannot be in the left lane if you are going more than 10mph below the posted speed limit. I am hoping this gets many scared drivers out of the left lane where they do not belong.
  16. No matter how one try's to say it was not corporate greed, this kind of story just continues to point to Corporate Greed.
  17. So love to see the OEMs stepping up and doing this immediately. Give me much more confidence in them.
  18. Drove 350 miles on Saturday to see the fall colors and it was beautiful including the E63 AMG that was totaled. Hopefully no one was hurt but the smug idiot that was constantly passing everyone on the mountain road, Blewett Pass ended up clipping the rear end of a minivan and biting it. Hate to see people hurt but it is even more irritating to see idiots like this one drive so recklessly. Karma gets you in the end.
  19. Best thing they could do is force them to admit it, and correct it.
  20. Very cool picture of the Alpha for Lost In Space! Robbi the Robot. Looks like one of the early prototypes for seadiving.Very cool pic.
