  1. You can't be serious man. I know you like certain companies more, but seriously? This is the same kinda attitude many people have against... hell you name it, any American car company no matter how credible their efforts or how lauded their products. I have no vested interest with this car, I would not even consider a single car from this segment of compact RWD sedans/coupes... but I respect them nonetheless. They control the luxury market. They really do. And everyone else is measured against them. I am serious and I also hold this attitude against all the American brands as they have also done the bland thing more than once. Only in the last few years have some makers finally changed to design language that differentiates themselves from the pack. BMW, MB, Toyota and Honda are the worst offenders of using the same look on everything and pretty much killing it. Toyota wins for having the bland cars under their Toyota label, Bland with an ugly mouth on Lexus and just plain puking ugly in the Prius family. This whole Coupe style on everything is so over done. This is not very inspiring at all. I do agree with SMK and I know others here have voiced the same that the model numbers should also reference the size of the engine. In this regards I think many of the makers from bare bones starter car to ubber luxury needs to reboot their naming so it falls in line with their engine size.

I am happy to have another American Brand since the GOV sold out Chrysler/Dodge/Ram/Jeep to the idiot Italian auto pukes that cannot run a business to save their life other than rape it for all the money to try and bring back a dead brand. Over all while happy that Tesla exists, sad it has such an UGLY design Language and that they seem to have delivered on only a fraction of what they have promised. Long term excited for the EV market, short term. I pass on Tesla and wait to see and drive a BOLT.
  3. OK, so City and Highway is higher but the combined does not change for MPG? Interesting package choices required to get this power train. Also, why bother if your only going to do 700 and sit back and monitor the market? Might as well put in a small diesel V6 and get better mileage or at least do a real VOLT power train in the trucks. After all you have plenty of space under the bed for the battery packs.
  4. Yup. mine right now sits at 402. In 2006 pulled the engine and built it out to be a 402. Thing pulls and moves the Suburban like grease lighting.
  5. While I can see California, I think Detroit is a far more realistic testing area with the 4 seasons and their Black Hole Potholes.
  6. Yes, I would take a CT6 Hybrid also. Better yet how about a brand New Escalade ESV Platinum with a Hybrid system.
  7. I thought it would have been 4WD but I read this, "The full-time 40/60-split all-wheel drive is basically unchanged (a rear-drive model comes later)". Granted that was a Denali review I was reading..but still.. Personally, I think the Tahoe of that generation looks better than the Yukon but if you want a little more luxury to your BOF SUV then get the GMC. Was yours a 5.3 as well? It looks like they offered a handful of engines back then. Yes.. mine was a 5.3L with plenty of power tho. I preferred the Tahoe of the GMT900s except if were talking about the Escalade.. which was my fav, especially in Platinum form. My 94 GMC Suburban SLE that I still own has the 5.3. Awesome engine that can be built up so easily. I also love my Escalade ESV Platinum. If you are going to spend the money, that is the way to go. Still have my 2006 as my wife and I love doing road trips in it.
  8. Interesting idea, a backup battery pack for your EV auto! Just like cell phone and how some carry a battery pack that can recharge their cell phone. Wonder if you could build a portable pack that would allow your EV to gain enough power to get to an outlet for charging.
  9. Very cool, glad to see a start rather than nothing and it is very affordable for many people. Doubt the $500 addition to the price would really affect the price of the auto on a month basis that would stop people from buying it.
  10. So yes there is not as many charging stations but you guys are way off. According to the latest Alternative Fuels Data Center web site that monitors and keeps accurate info on the charging stations the current numbers stand as follows: 12,290 Electric Stations with 30,851 Level 1, 2 & DC Fast Charge Charging outlets. This does not include Tesla's charging network. Washington state 570 Electric Stations with 1,450 Charging outlets and the following breakdown of types of charging connections: 239 Level 1 1101 Level 2 110 DC Fast Chargers Oregon State 409 Electric Stations with 991 Charging outlets and the following breakdown of types of charging connections: 119 Level 1 720 Level 2 153 DC Fast Chargers California State 2990 Electric Stations with 9007 Charging outlets and the following breakdown of types of charging connections: 661 Level 1 7577 Level 2 769 DC Fast Chargers So YES Plenty of opportunities for building out but also plenty for the OEMs to bring pure EVs to market.

  12. Suburban with a VOLT Powertrain would be great to reduce fuel consumption and still have a great road trip auto. I would love it.

This is one way to make people not worry about range so you drive it 200 miles and then get a free tow for the next 500 so you can get your 700 mile trip done in one day.

  16. Very Cool, Not bad at all and this is how I see more auto companies going with a single platform that supports Hybrid and EV. Far better looking than the ugly Honda or Toyota Hybrids. Way better looking than the Toyota Hydrogen auto. Interior is fine, nothing special but reminds me of an entry level auto.

So your saying this 2016 S Class is better looking than the BMW 8 Series Concept? 2016 S Class 4 Door 2016 S Class 2 door Coupe BMW 8 Series Concept I say they both pale in comparison to this Cadillac! Though I know some feel Cadillac should build this to compete against the S Class and 8 Series
  19. I see the points you are making and they are valid. No argument from me there, I understand the marketing / sales reason for it. I am just saying I disagree with it being being an option when I think the money can be spent on building much better options on auto's. I understand the bunker look too, but also do not like it other than on the Hummer. For an auto, it should be an open free flowing design. I wish someone would bring this rear window design back as I think it offers much to the occupants and owners of what you can do while driving and still enjoying fresh air.
  20. I used to think that too but having seen Tesla and their powerpack quick change feature. I am thinking you can swap out a battery pack faster than you can refill a fuel cell. This would help to minimize pit stop changes. Faster recharge and all the torque plus safety for the pit crew by not having a flammable liquid sitting around. Imagen a slot on the back of the race car that has the battery pack over the rear tires for better traction and you just yank out the old pack, slid in a fully charged on and boom, off you go. As has been said many times, we are living in interesting times.
  21. As EV moves into the main stream, it is going to be very interesting to see how racing in all forms evolves. Drag Racing Nascar Sprint F1 Ralley etc. It will be interesting to see how electric motors and battery packs affect our driving pleasure.
  22. Hyper, I usually see most thing you post in the same manner as how I would interpret them. With that said my friend, this is a first where I totally disagree with you. Head Room is NOT something that most people can live with and having less is an acceptable compromise is a failure. I hear from people all the time about how the coupe looks causes the rear passengers to hit their head, be bent forward, etc. It might be a styling darling right now for sales, but in the real world, more and more people are learning the hard way that the couple design is a failure for a 4 door car or even a 2 door with rear seating. Another reason that CUV\SUVs are exploding in sales, people are tired of not having room in a sedan due to the stupid Coupe design. A coupe design 4 door is a hinderance and auto companies need to stop following each other and look at some of the excellent designs that have been done around giving plenty of headroom without all the shortcomings of a coupe design.
  23. This should be interesting to see how they attack MB, if they use traditional gas powered power trains or if they do it only as Hybrid / EV's? This continues to prove that we live in interesting times.

Some here on Cheers and Gears even feel that alternative energy auto's are a waste of time or should not even be bothered with. So it was with interest when I saw this story on Bloombergs web site. Another Oil Crash Is Coming, and There May Be No RecoveryThe focus on this is that with Tesla in 2017 and Chevy later this year, 2016 beginning to sell 200 Mile, $30,000 auto's, other Auto OEMs spending Billions to also field electric auto's with long battery pack range that the days of Dino powered auto's are limited. Bloomberg clearly states that OPEC and even ExxonMobil have reported that they only see EV auto's making up 1% at most by 2040 on the planet. What no one saw was the Huge growth in US oil fields in 2014 and a global glut of 2 million barrels of oil a day sitting on the market. Bloomberg reviewed world wide data to see that EV Auto's grew by 60% in 2015, show no signs of slowing down among governments push to reduce smog in cities around the world. Based on buying trends and who fast things can change, Bloomberg is predicting that by 2023 we will see another 2 million barrels of Oil being unused on the market leading to this prediction of another crash and the power of the Oil Companies being reduced. The video they have on their story is also very interesting to watch and listen too.
