  1. Go Diesel if you do end up with a Canyonado, they are pretty darn efficient. Otherwise look at EV or Hybrid, there are plenty of choices that are pretty amazing.
  2. Bummer as that is exactly what Buick should have in their stable. I will disagree with him and wonder if it is because the moron in charge of Cadillac does not have his ducks in a row yet.
  3. I think VW would be helping themselves and creating thousands of Ambassadors by doing a proper high Blue Book buyback program that would get the illegal auto's off the road and get these customers into a new ride that would make everyone happy. What do they do to replace cars that were getting 40-50mpg though? I mean I know if I did the commute my buddy does I would be a little upset knowing my, even though it would be brand we, new Jetta can't touch the mpg my TDI could. Would they give them X dollars to spend elsewhere? I know that sounds ridiculous but at the same time they did kind of con the consumer into buying them anyway. I have yet to see any VW TDI actually get 40-50 mpg compared to the Hybrids like the VOLT or Prius. I know the diesel can hit the 30-s to low 40's but that has been it. If the EPA says to buy them back, I assume you will get a payout or can deal with suing VW. It really is all up in the air right now and it will be interesting to see comes out of the negotiations on dealing wth this. dfelt, I can say I have seen 40+ in the last Volkswagen TDI I have driven (2014 Jetta TDI). That is very cool, wonder how the software update to the Jetta TDI 2014 would affect that MPG. Being in a cold state, I have always heard 30+ and up to high 30's so figure the cold weather also affects the MPG. Be interesting to see how VW deals with a reduction in MPG if that is what happens with the software fix for those that can be updated versus those that require major changes to be emissions compliant.

Which, I didn't say 40's and 50's I said 40-50mpg. I guarantee if my buddy set the cruise on his Jetta going 55mph the instant readout would be in the low 50's on flat ground. I understand you're not going to average that but replacing a car like that won't be a gas-only car. Do these drivers want a hybrid? Do they want 40+mpg? My buddy says if he doesn't drive stupid fast like he usually does you can cruise and easily get 40+ mpg average. He will drive 80mph+ and still averages right around 40mpg, give or take. That is cool, wonder what VW will do to try and keep the MPG at this level. Be interesting to see what the end result ends up for VW.
  5. Very cool, I think this is competitive price and I like their Concierge service. This will give the buyer a very personal experience that will build brand loyalty.

  8. Very sweet write up. In thinking about the auto, other than the nav and the seem on the dash and the regular hinges, anything else stick out as a wish they had done this better? Agree with you that the V6 AWD would be the best version to get IMHO. Look forward to the pictures.
  9. SS Halo 4 door Sedan with V8 very well could live on as a special edition auto based on a frame used by Cadillac, Buick, etc. They very well could keep the SS going as long as it helps to reduce costs and breaks even or even makes a profit, a small one at that.
  10. Hello McFly, You cannot fix all the auto's, buy them back and get those stinking, smoking polluting auto's off the road. END of STORY! I truly believe VW will end up fixing those that can but have to buy back the rest. Crusher / recycling here they come. Not like there is any auto here that is really worth saving from a history standpoint, most of the polluting ones are just basic transportation.
  11. Humours day for the Hybrid, Electric, SmartCar parking situation in Seattle.
  12. So you can now get your own Trans Am Bandit edition signed by Burt Reynolds. Seems a company purchased the naming rights and all things Trans Am and are now producing 840 HP Trans Ams from the latest Camaro. 2016 Trans Am Bandit Edition signed by Burt Reynolds.
  13. So they are just doing putting out the same cars with different skins. Sounds about right. This is what will lead to both MB and BMW ending up loosing their luxury status as they become a true Chevy, Ford or Dodge to the US market. They are loosing that Luxury status as now they are just an anyone auto. Why bother buying an auto that anyone can have? Poor fit n finish and reliability to boot.
  14. WOW, Can you say BIG Mouth Billy Bass! I knew you could! Some will love this cheap little ride, but I would pass.

  17. ^ Drew's Statement is so True!
  18. LOL, you could not tell that in Seattle, the amount of STI and EVOs on the road here is crazy. Maybe a High Tech Young Engineer thing BMW and MB cannot touch these cars with the young engineering crowd.
  19. Interesting is all the projects ARPA is overseeing that is researching into the whole RANGE issue for batteries: http://www.arpa-e.energy.gov/?q=programs/range Interesting is that Chevy is considered one of the best systems out there. http://www.arpa-e.energy.gov/?q=arpa-e-programs/range To quote from this article: Program Description: The projects that comprise ARPA-E's RANGE Program, short for "Robust Affordable Next Generation Energy Storage Systems," seek to develop transformational electrochemical energy storage technologies that will accelerate the widespread adoption of electric vehicles by dramatically improving their driving range, cost, and safety. RANGE focuses on four specific areas; 1) Aqueous batteries constructed using water to improve safety and reduce costs. 2) Non-aqueous batteries that incorporate inherent protection mechanisms that ensure no harm to vehicle occupants in the event of a collision or fire. 3) Solid-state batteries that use no liquids or pastes in their construction. 4) Multifunctional batteries that contribute to both vehicle structure and energy storage functions. I have to say when you look at all the programs that the colleges and auto companies are involved in here, I expect us to see great things over the next 5 years in EV auto's.
  20. Sems MB and BMW have become Ford and Chevy of the 80's. Guess they are entering their 90's phase.
  21. Fun Fact: 95% of all students would ask for extra homework and abstinence education over a Mitsubishi Mirage.
