  1. Ugly little cracker jack boxs no matter how you view them.
  2. Very interesting, the buy back is what I think should have been done from day one. With that said, I think VW to show good will and to address their lies of creating and using cheap software especially on auto's that cannot be fixed without engineering change should just swap out equal 2016/2017 model for their faulty versions. This will build good will with the owners and help bring back customers to the vacant VW dealerships. Cost money? You bet, allot, but long term this would really help to turn things around for VW. They need it as they are bleeding to death on the table.
  3. Seems Chris Doan, occasional visitor to C&G caught a Dodge Durango Hellcat exposed for the world to see. Seems the folks did not secure the tarp too good and HotRod is showing off the images of the beast with the new nose clip. Story Interesting seeing this nose on the Durango. Check out more picks at HotRod.com web site.
  4. Cadillac is Luxury what one strives for in owning an auto, rich in Leather, woods, worlds most quiet and comfortable ride. Fit n Finish better than the rest. Luxury is something you never should find at a Chevy, Mercedes-Benz or any other dealer that is not just Luxury. You can have near Luxury level rides, but not top notch luxury when you compete in the lower segments. I never want Cadillac to compete in the subcompact space IMHO. ATS should be the smallest any auto gets under Cadillac.
  5. Was just reading this on Bloomberg. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-04-20/mitsubishi-motors-plunges-after-improper-handling-of-fuel-tests Pretty interesting but nothing like what VW did. Here via over inflation of tires and tweaking things on the car to reduce air resistance they got higher ratings. Not unlike what FORD also did to get higher MPG ratings. This is recoverable fast and easy and minimal penalty. VW did was far worse and will hurt them long term. Best thing is to just buy the auto's back, crush them, pay the penalty and move forward. Best solutino for VW would be to give a current emissions legal equal auto to the auto owners and call it good. Talk about good will and how that would give them fans and social media good will.
  6. Cool and Interesting, but I question the complexity of a Hybrid like this in relation to a BOLT or VOLT solution. I think rolling out more VOLT based powertrains is a superior way to go. This gives time to continue to grow the battery packs so that eventually everything will be BOLT like as pure EVs.
  7. Shame that they had that to say, but then I really think Manuals are the way of dodo birds and should go to the history books. Well my car isn't getting any younger, and I have to consider what I'd get as an affordable replacement if it died or was totaled. A new Cruze 5-door was looking pretty attractive (for band gigs), but I've gotta have a stick shift if I'm gonna be stuck in a low power mainstream car. I thought the new versions had Torquey engines to not give that impression with an auto?
  8. That would be very tasty indeed with a Mocha Mettalic Exterior color!
  9. OUCH, I just read the whole story from where this is quoted and it is not nice towards Tesla. Powerwall Fading
  10. Yes it would have to be a larger car as the Regal is just not in the price class to deal with doing this right. This would be a top end halo sedan over the Lacrosse targeting a lower volume niche of people wanting sporty with jusdt some compromise for style in a sedan. Like a 5 class Benz. This car would replace nothing as it would just be supplemental. Also forget the old names. Is this really a car fitting the Park Ave name? Even Riv would not fit because of the extra doors. You want to continue the changes at Buick you do it in styling, product offerings and names. The old names only garner old customers that are loyal. The new names bring a different view to the new customers you are trying to reach. You can sell an old customer a new name but seldom do old names mean much or make new customers respond. Especially since so many of them were damaged on poor cars in the last 30 years. Lets face it the last Riviera was not the 1963-65 model. The only old name with a shot is Wildcat as most people that are the new target customers were not even born when the last one was made and it never went thought the Down Sized FWD drama. I would not be disturbed if the Regal name went away either. It reminds me too much of the soul less W bodies of the 90's. Skylark is the embarrassment of the 80's N body and I could go on. Lesabre was not a bad car but younger buyers equate it to dad or grand dad car as we all know some one that was 60 plus years old that had one or two of them. My dad did so did Grandma. Park Ave is a large luxury sedan not a sporty sedan. That is what the Lacrosse should be. Make it a Hybrid and call it Electra 240 for the charging system. I agree that you take this car and do one of two things, either a pure EV and call it Electra or TTV6 and call it Wildcat! Both pay homage to Buicks rich history!
  11. Totally understandable, I wonder just how long manual trans will be around before it is a history note in books. With the need for clean air and higher MPG, automatics are the way to go. Plus safer for all especially in hilly areas. I really think there is no valid reason to keep building manual transmissions. Calling it here, maybe 10 years left before Manual transmissions are gone. No need to have them with EVs and Petrol, Diesel and CNG all get better MPG with auto rather than manual transmissions.
  12. Shame that they had that to say, but then I really think Manuals are the way of dodo birds and should go to the history books.
  13. No matter what when a person puts their money where their mouth is and gets the auto they want and supports the company they like, I can totally respect that.
  14. +1 As well as an AWD version to put the STI in it's place.
  15. Based on comparing the two trims, I would have to have the Premium 2 Package. I have to have my cooled seats, something that is not available in the Premium 1 package. Even after looking at the 2017 trims that are also posted for the 3 lower trim levels, I would still only consider the Premium 2 package on this auto.
  16. EXCITEMENT! Wish they would tell us what specifically is in Premium 1 trim versus Premium 2 trim. I am excited for this to hit the dealers lots. I expect it to do well for Buick. Update: Buick now has all the details on their web site. Buick Envision 2016 Trims
  17. According to Top Gear SVR stands for Special Vehicle Racing. Weird right?
  18. So interesting question, unless these are very tiny V8 engines to meet the stupid Euro Spec of taxes on displacement, why not a normally aspirated V8? After all GM can get 500HP out of a V8 normally aspirated and that would relieve pressure on having to run Super in the Supercharged V8. Do not get me wrong the sound of a Supercharged V8 is a lovely thing. But in today's world of MPG Nazi's, supercharged just does not make much sense to me anymore when you have electrics delivering the same performance, Hybrids and of course Naturally aspirated DI engines.
  19. Gas2.org published the following story Chevy BOLT Not a Compliance Car Says GM Click the link above for the full story, but the end result according to Kevin Kelly, GM has the ability to build 50,000, 100,000 as many as the market demands. This is not to satisfy the Government due to the loans or california but truly move to what customers are asking for. GM has invested in their 3rd party supplies 250 million to insure supply for world wide demand plus the millions invested in the assembly line in the US to build the BOLT and export it all around the world.
  20. CNET had a Deep Dive session with Chevrolet about the BOLT powertrain. All of the pics are on GM Media but also in the story, A very good read with comparisons to Tesla and what Apple is doing. Interesting is that the story clearly states that the Spark is only sold in states that mandated an EV, aka a compliance auto. The BOLT will be available in all states. The BOLT only weighs 700 lbs more than the Spark at 3580lbs and is a Crossover compact compared to the Subcompact car that is the Spark. Road/Show by CNET 2017 DEEP DIVE - BOLT's Electric Powertrain In an accident, GM learned from the First Responders what they wanted for safety. No electrical issues as seen in other EVs. GM built in the fastest disconnect of the electrical system. GM's Leaders who presented the Deep Dive session.
  21. More BOLT Updates GM Media GM has released more info and this continues to show how solid GM engineering is, on the range front, Chevy Spark has an 82 mile range, the batter in the BOLT is double the size and triple the capacity plus. The density of power per cell is 60 percent more according to GM Media. The Battery will come with an 8yr 100,000 mile warranty. Bolt battery is 164 inches long, 70 inches wide 60 kWH 288 Lithium ion cell 960lbs. More info found here Chevrolet Media For those that say this is no Tesla, the motor is a 200HP 266lb-ft of Torque electric. 100% from zero. This is how you hit below 3 seconds to 30 and below 7 seconds to 60. Final drive ratio 7.05:1. COOL Comparison Left to Right - VOLT Gen 1, VOLT Gen 2, Spark and BOLT Battery packs.
  22. Very cool, so awesome to hear that GM is building a worthy compact auto for the masses.
  23. Wonder if you do end up in this type of accident and those bars bend, crack, etc. how can an owner verify that they really did fix it back to OEM spec. I know there are some body shops I would never take my auto too because of the shortcuts they have done and that even includes insurance approved places.
