  1. Kinda my thought as well....but do not count on them being built here.... I take it as we will build them in the US along our auto's also.
  2. Fuel Eco Gate, The New Emotional "The sky is falling" story for the news. Sensationalism at it's best.
  3. Ebay, the world of wonderful discoveries has this latest addition, a tubular frame with corvette suspension and powertrain wrapped in a VW Bug Body. Your for $17,000 or join in the bidding war. Ebay Posting Quoting the posting of Description: Professionally built Volkswagen Beetle body with no rust, on a custom-made tubular steel frame and Corvette transverse leaf spring front and rear suspension. It has a Z4 400-hp Chevy 350 cu.in. V8 with a Corvette tuned port injection (TPI) system, aluminum driveline, Dana 36 rear end, and 16" aluminum wheels with Z-rated tires. It has a 3" dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. With the widened and flared fenders, this bug is 9" wider than the standard '71 Super Beetle, which gives it a bolder stance and impressive appearance. Tan leather interior.
  4. They are sure going ot have to come up with a better looking auto than above that is for sure and better have an SUV/CUV which is what americans are buying.
  5. I can appreciate that sentiment, and I'll not argue it… but I'd occasionally trade 5 minutes of indecision in the wax aisle @ Pep Boys vs. hours of fabricating & welding a dual exhaust system from scratch. LOL, So very true, something very worthwhile about creating with ones hands. I love to weld also, there is satisfaction in saying look, not pretty but damn, I built that.!
  6. G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com $1.4 Billion incentive to go Electric Auto in Germany According to CNN Money, Germany's government has joined forces with Daimler, Volkswagen and BMW to offer up to $1.2 Billion Euros ($1.4 Billion US) as rebates to purchase electric auto's. $4,000 euros ($4,500 US) for pure EVs and $3,000 euros ($3,400 US) for Plug-in Hybrids in today's conversion of currency. Germany has announced that they are also inviting all US and Asian auto companies to take part in this rebate program to sell electric based auto's. Germany lags behind the U.K, France, Italy and Spain in electric auto sales. Currently around 50,000 EVs are on the roads in germany. This program is designed to get 400,000 electric auto sales in the near future with the goal of 1 million on the roads by 2020 and 5 million by 2030 in Germany. Experts have warned that these targets are not reachable. Yet Germany has pointed to GM and Tesla with the BOLT/VOLT and Tesla 3 as examples. This program is only available on autos costing $60,000 euros or less. This is where the German auto companies have to drive efficiency to get their basic EV below this price point. Currently German Auto companies are struggling to compete with foreign rivals in the electic car market and the German government has committed an additional $300 million euros to electrify the country's highway system for charging saying they will have 15,000 charging stations installed for quick charging in the next 36 months. Germany has also committed $100 million to ensure 20% of all government auto's are electric.
  7. G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com Tesla Model 3 to be Unprofitable per UBS Per the Street insider web site, UBS analyst, Colin Langan is stated as saying for the Tesla 3 to be break even they will need to sell at $50,000 each. Until Li-Ion chemistry costs drop and Tesla can get economy of scale in building auto's, the ability for Tesla to make a profit let alone break even on the Tesla 3 auto is going to be impossible. This story is based on the UBA analyst hosting a call with Jon Bereisa, President and CEO of Auto Lectrification. Jon is a 35 year veteran of GM responsible for the VOLT program as well as the EV1 program that they killed off. Interesting is Jon is a conservative individual and Tesla called in to defend and call Jon wrong as Jon says Tesla's cost per battery pack is about $260 per kWh and GM for the BOLT is $215 per kWh. This is in comparison to GM who says the BOLT will be $145 per kWh and Tesla who says their cost will be $190 per kWh. Interesting is that the story goes on to say that the Analyst is very skeptical about Tesla's cost estimates after talking to MIT and others in the industry who say at the price Tesla is stating cannot include factory variables, engineering plus R&D, overhead, SG&A, etc. Based on stated facts from auto makers around the world of needing 45-55% markup to break even, this would imply that the Tesla 3 would have to sell by some at $45-48k and others say $50k. 8. WOW, Watching this video again, I realize I really like the capabilities of the seats. Cool
  9. Love this first Commercial from Lincoln on the 2017 Continental
  10. CT6 Commercials XT5 Commercials Escalade Commercials Stumbled upon this web site, never heard of it before but surprise, Cadillac had a Dare Greatly web site for the product line. http://www.daregreatly.com/
  11. Sorry Drew, got caught up in the Cadillac side discussion. Agree they should be in the caddy thread. Saw this on the Lincoln in regards to why they are bringing back the Continental. Great video to watch. http://edition.cnn.com/video/api/embed.html# http://www.cnn.com/videos/business/2015/03/30/qmb-ford-ceo-mark-fields-intv.cnn
  12. While I completely agree, we don't know that they aren't getting a form of "profit sharing" for the very good few years they've had. Like Walmart. All people see is X dollars/hr. but they never hear about the quarterly bonuses for having a good store with high scores in sales, customer appreciation, shrinkage, etc, etc. . That's for all employees, not just management. The store I worked at was typically between $200-600 and then there were quarters w/o a bonus and then quarters w/ ~$900 bonus. Very True, I just wish more companies would have transparency and show these benefits as it does help recruit better quality employees.
  13. I approve all Man Cards here no matter what you do if you rebuild an engine or project auto like Balthazar or just keep your ride sparkling and shinny like Olds. We all love the industry and so that in itself keeps our Man Cards Stamped. Trust me, washing and keeping a car looking show room new is just as hard as working on a truck like Balthazar keeping a lovely ride on the road. Ya all Rock! Love the updates on where your at Balthazar, look forward to seeing that baby on the road again. Let us know how the inspection goes once your ready to drive it again.
  14. ^^^^^ +1 as I totally agree with you SMK about Sergio being way over paid. Most really are. They could grow companies so much more if they kept their pay reasonable and actually shared the profit with the employees who would most likely work harder if they know they get a portion of the profit from the company performing well.
  15. ^^^^^ How is FWD wrong wheel drived when Audi as well as BMW and MB have sold plenty of FWD appliances?
  16. Of course, because MB follows revenue above all else! March 2016 ~ cla-class : DOWN 28% c-class : DOWN 13% e-class : DOWN 19% s-class : DOWN 36% VANS :: UP 29% Expect to see increasing emphasis / dealer stock on from the etherial "van division" of Daimler in the coming year as the rest of the brand is entering a sales 'slide'. Do not forget the rebadged Nissan Truck that will show up along side the vans for sales s
  17. http://www.autoextremist.com/on-the-table1/?currentPage=2 Hey....dont shoot the messenger, Im only saying what others are thinking! And Why Do They Not say this about the MB product line that has the same cheap ass face on their A, B C, E and S series? Talk about a bland blended product line. I can tell more differences between ats, cts and CT6 than I can on the MB units.
  18. BUT BUt But Subaru has marketed us to believe that AWD is the second coming and we have to have it for winter!!!
  19. Cool, I would LOVE for GM to shock the world again like they did with the BOLT concept by showing off an Equinox Plug-in powertrain, aka using a beefed up version of the VOLT system but with the battery of the BOLT. That way you should have about a 600 mile range of driving for road trips but at least the first 200+ would be pure electric.
  20. Not much to really tell at this stage, wish there was a better shot of it along side the current model to really tell if it is smaller or bigger. Hard to tell from the single image they have.
  21. I am hoping this allows GM to finally scale out the VOLT powertrain for use in far more auto's. The VOLT powertrain should be in everything especially in trucks and SUVs. This would greatly bump up GM MPG average and greatly reduce the green house gas production.
  22. Washington state just finalized their updated group buying program for EV auto's and Hybrids. Approved for immediate purchase is the following: 2016 Nissan Leaf with 107 mile range and 30 kWh battery for the SV and the original 84 mile range with 24 kWh battery for the S. S Model - $20,734 SV Model - $25,642 2017 Chevrolet Volt $33,859 More details here: http://wwcleancities.org/new-washington-state-ev-contracts-equal-huge-price-savings/ As far as I can tell this is before Fed rebate is applied. 23. Update on this, not only have these electric buses proven to be more reliable, much less maintenance but also longer life between DC quick charges. Metro has decided rather than Diesel Bio Buses, they are now going forward with 6 more of these electric buses as they start to replace the full diesel inner city bus fleet with electric buses and use CNG busses for the express long distance drives. Full story here: http://www.kingcounty.gov/elected/executive/constantine/News/release/2016/February/17-battery-bus-launch.aspx Per the article, this purchase brings their inner city bus fleet to 70% pure electric or hybrid electric buses.
