  1. This is what I believe will also push for VOLT type powertrains as more electric motors get built and for those that do not need the long range, then pure EV as 200+ miles will cover the commuter car with errands being run before, during or after work. Petro powered only auto's are on their way out over the next 10-15 years. All depends on how well the BOLT and Ioniq do along with the updated Leaf.
  2. Yup, the Japan consolidation is just beginning. I suspect over the next 18-24 months we will see more of these deals and the top three will end up being Toyota, Nissan and Honda with the rest of the name plates being under these three.
  3. How so? Even Paccar the owner of Peterbilt and Kenworth have concept trucks looking like this with a single access door running on CNG, LNG or Bio Diesel. It was only a matter of time before someone decided to apply what the Trains are powered by, electric motors with LNG generator. The CEO is a tree hugger and wanted a fun outdoor UTV that did not pollute, so now we see their drawing of their green UTV. Personally I really like these new aero Semi's.
  4. +1 to Drew for pointing out an overlooked truth about Tesla. Not your Grandfather's Car Company is it!
  5. -1, Sorry Thed, but I am NOT Impressed with that Tinny rattle of sound. It starts off nice with a deep tone and then goes high pitch tin can rattle that is not impressive. Plus to have to rev so high and hard to make it go is also not impressive. I will take a Torquey 4 banger over the out of date, green house gas producing oil consuming rotary every day. This is a decent sounding engine.
  6. Do not need the old Cadillac to make America Great Again. America is Great and Technology and innovation is what is driving this along with a division called Cadillac that builds fun to drive auto's that equal and beat much of the Euro and Asian rim auto's. Better yet is that GM is a green company compared to MB and their green house gas producing products. EPA even shows they are!
  7. One of the two links provided said it was not in production yet, still building the site unless this is outdated info, but even then, they should be able to ramp better than if the building part is done. Scroll way down towards the bottom and there is a little more info on the Gigafactory. It's pretty amazing how large it will be and how small what IS there really is in comparison. "Twenty-five miles east of downtown Reno, Nevada, in the rolling hills south of Interstate 80 sits one of the largest graded construction pads ever made. On this site, Tesla has been busy rapidly constructing a behemoth of a lithium-ion battery factory that will eventually be one of the world’s largest buildings. The fully realized factory is not scheduled to be finished until 2020, but already the structure is big by any measure; it’s currently running 24 hours a day and producing Tesla Powerpacks and Powerwalls. Eventually Tesla will make Model 3 battery packs at this building, dropping the cost of Tesla batteries by 30 percent. Here are some gigafacts to wrap your head around." http://www.motortrend.com/news/tesla-model-3-photos-analysis/ Cool, thank you for pointing that out. I took a break and flew through the links and missed this. Wonder just how many LI cells they are producing now.
  8. FCA's CAFE numbers are horrible. FCA ranks last among major auto makers at 20.8. The company actually has to purchase CAFE Credits from others http://www.autonews.com/article/20151216/OEM11/151219893/fiat-chrysler-buys-emissions-credits-from-tesla-toyota-honda Awesome Post, this is interesting to see that MB is failing the emissions and has to buy credits to be in compliance globally. Guess that quality MB auto's are not that clean. So the Early Credits reporting shows just how bad some companies are. Compliance is interesting that it shows MB and Kia as both FAILING to be compliant. Compliance Balance is interesting to see who has the most credits for offset. Compliance program is interesting to see how they use it. Very interesting 93 page report. Worth looking at if you want a good look at the auto industry. I can clearly see the drive for EV auto's will make or break the auto industry as the green credits you get for having EV and Hybrids is worth it IMHO. 2014GreenhouseGasReport.PDF

  10. That is one lovely shade of Green!
  11. We'll they do have to solve the battery problem since the gigafactory is not in production yet. Fix the current quality issues on the current S & X models plus get parts so they can actually build the darn car. Wait and see what happens, next 18 months are going to be very interesting for Tesla.
  12. Very Interesting, watched the crash section a couple times, seems the back wheel locked up and then they braked and it went it going before the wheels freed up and started to spin. I suspect either the rear brakes locked up or some other failure, course this early on in development, they will get these bugs sorted out. Nice thing is it can clearly take a hit and stay together.
  13. Yup, so much for the 400,000 or 500,000 presales, if this gets 30,000 delivered in 2018 I will be surprised. Reality, I bet over half of these become canceled once people can drive the BOLT or Ioniq EV. People will realize, no need to wait for Tesla.
  14. So in keeping to the spirit of seeing what people would drive. Here you have two choices, both 1987. So please choose which one you would drive and why? If you feel you cannot drive this, then keep it in the same Year and explain why you would rather have an alternative choice. 1987 Buick Grand National GNX 1987 BMW M3 1987 Alternative ???????
  15. 300M was to me a jelly bean blah car. Yea they did have a performance version of it, but the car over all was just blah IMHO.
