January 2017: Mercedes-Benz USA
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Sales Figure Ticker
And Toyota, Chevy, Ford, etc. have auto's in that same price range. So that tells us nothing but as MB and BMW have gone down stream, they have picked up people for the badge, these sales are not the same ones that bought MB when it was a true Luxury only auto company.- 26 replies

Very cool, I love the look, still hate the rear lights with that pull down thing in the corners. -

So can we do the Dump test again on both trucks beds to see which one holds up best? A pillar is well disguised, so not sure it is that much fatter based on that blurry picture. -
Love that for the cushy Float Auto's and back seats, but for the drivers, that is way too non-supportive. I think we can get a nice mix of comfy and relaxing with support. My 2006 Escalade seat meets that.

Fiat News: FCA Expects EPA Will Certify 2017 MY Diesels Soon
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Fiat
Agree, at this point in time, kill off FCA, Let a well backed investment team scoop up the company, killing off the stupid products and clean house to those that should be kept. At this point in time, not sure if it is worth keeping Fiat/Alfa alive in the US. Also Chrysler with only 1 product a minivan, might as well be killed off. Put the Minivan into Dodge and focus the new company as DJR. A car company, a SUV company and a Truck company all in one dealership. Close down the excessive dealerships and clean up.- 4 replies

I also love the 6.2L engine. I have used it in both the V8/V4 mode and turned it off to be in just V8 mode. I have to say, I understand the V4 thing, but the engine and driving is way better in V8 all the time mode. Seats are much firmer than in the past. I know many thought they were like a lazy boy, but for my 2006, they are awesome, firm enough to hold you in place and yet soft enough to make a long distance road trip very fun.

January 2017: Mercedes-Benz USA
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Sales Figure Ticker
BMW and MB growth has come at the expense to their Luxury status as the bulk of sales is now based on these posting in the Toyota, Ford, Chevy range. People who want others to think they are rich when they are not and so hoping a badge can give them additional look at me clought. The next few years, being by 2020 will tell if this pays off for them or not. Either way, interesting to watch and see the evolution of the auto industry.- 26 replies

Rumorpile: Alfa Romeo Giulia Coupe To Bow At Geneva :Comments
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Alfa Romeo
True they did, but that is not what was stated. Agree, Fiat and Alfa were more terrible than any other auto company and left as no one was willing to buy their crap. They came back in thinking people would have forgotten about the 60's and 70's and we have not. Crap then, Crap now and when Fiat could have built up Chrysler, Dodge, Ram and Jeep, instead they have stolen the billions to try and bring back Alfa "FAILED" and to prop up Fiat. If Sergio had half a brain, he would have dumped the low end of Chrysler and built it to be a true luxury competitor, continued to improve and grow Dodge, Jeep and Ram and with solid products from those 4, then replace and improve Fiat and the rest. Instead he choose to take the billions, lie and bring back a pathetic Alfa that does not sell and keep Fiat building the same crap that people buy and dump on the market before they have 10,000 miles on them.- 9 replies

Interesting, yes the HP and Torque of Turbo'd engines possibly could move what is needed on Full size Trucks. Will the Good O'l Boy network accept it? That is the big question. I myself see the need for this, but am not sold that this is the way to go. Be interesting to see.

I find it interesting that muslim countries have such a low literacy rate and yet Sony still makes billions selling cassette decks / walkman there since the religious nuts record their fire and brimstone and then have the illiterate population listen to it and act stupidly. The ban is just stupid IMHO. So many more places should be on the list then if you really want to become closed and a horse with blinders on. Having a better vetting process is GOOD, shutting the borders to a select group of places, BAD! Can we better deal with our immigration? Sure!!! Will it happen? Probably not, to many IDIOTS in DC have alternative agendas rather than fixing the problems. Lets leave the Political Debates in the Political Forum PLEASE! SO BACK ON TOPIC, What does others think about Escalades Seats based on the photo's I posted above?

BS, Believe it when we see it. Segio is a lying sack of Sh$t. He took the billions out hurting the US brands to bring back his Italian Garbage Alfa and proved it was a mess as he has failed to deliver on anything he has stated. Now the only way to save face is to then push out his Alfa crap onto the rest of the brands to try and justify his incompetence. Face it Sergio, Alfa should have stayed Dead and Fiat could be killed and no one would shed a tear except the Italians. "Garbage in Garbage out" a term that never fit a company so well as it does Fiat! US should have Never let Fiat buy Chrysler, Jeep, Ram, Dodge. I would have rather merged GM and Chrysler than let Fiat buy them and screw it up even worse.

Drug Abuse is Sad! Yet it is a form of population control since many abuse themselves before being able to reproduce and die young.

Rumorpile: Alfa Romeo Giulia Coupe To Bow At Geneva :Comments
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Alfa Romeo
Yup, better quality than Fiat but not great, but they have generated Billions that Sergio took to bring back from death Alfa and make him look like superman in Italy since it created jobs there, but in essence, it was a short vision thinking as it is killing the goose that laid the golden egg and now the American Brands are just about dead. Since Alfa generates ZERO Profits and is a black hole sucking down money, how will it survive once people stop buying Chrysler and Dodge products cause they are so old in comparison to the rest of the auto world. SERGIO = IDIOT, NO VISION, STUPID, Should have been fired long ago if it was not for his manipulation of numbers to keep the board employed also. They are only looking for a way to get to retirement and not about long life of the company or jobs. IMHO- 9 replies

Arghhhhhh Alphabet soup just screws my brain over. So hate the whole naming thing be it numbers or letters. So I assume you mean this? • XTC (noun) Sense 1 XTC [BACK TO TOP] Meaning: Street names for methylenedioxymethamphetamine Classified under: Nouns denoting man-made objects Synonyms: cristal; disco biscuit; hug drug; XTC; go; Adam; ecstasy; X Hypernyms ("XTC" is a kind of...): MDMA; methylenedioxymethamphetamine (a stimulant drug that is chemically related to mescaline and amphetamine and is used illicitly for its euphoric and hallucinogenic effects; it was formerly used in psychotherapy but in 1985 it was declared illegal in the United States)

For Cadillac, I see the line up as follows: ATS = CT3 CTS = CT5 CT6, 7, 9 all in base trim, Luxury, Premium Luxury, Platinum, V-Sport & V editions. This would cover their 2 door coupes, 2 door convertibles, 4 door sedans. XT3, 5, 7, 9 all in base trim, Luxury, Premium Luxury, Platinum, V-Sport & V editions. Escalade in regular and ESV versions. All in base trim, Luxury, Premium Luxury, Platinum, V-Sport & V editions. This is a complete Luxury Lineup with no need for sub compacts or ultra compacts or any other low end version. If someone wants that, Welcome to Buick! Under Trump, you have to have your cheap working staff! Midgets, the new minority! I fully endorse this SARCASM and Non Politically Correct Comment!

That is being addressed with the V-Sport and V edition of the Escalade. No need for a smaller more expensive CUV/SUV. I hate even the thought. Escalade is the top dog in the lineup and it has room for the two mentioned versions. That is not to say that an XT-9, 7, 5, 3 should not also have a V-Sport and V edition too.

Do you think SMK is talking about his Better than Anything Ancient G-Wagon that I think in his mind is better than the Escalade and above it due to price. 2017 G-Wagon starts at $110,000 and tops out at $220,400 in the AMG G65 version.

I love the newest look and quality of the Escalade. With that said, I do have one nitpic issue. The Seats. They have gotton thinner and less comfortable than in the past. My 2006 is firm and yet very comfy for long road trips. I have had all this week a 2017 Escalade and have to say that there is much to love, but the seats really make your Bum go Numb fast within 30 min. I have done everything I can to adjust the seats but both my wife and I have come to the same conclusion, the seats are not comfortable compared to my 2006. Big change is how flat and thin the side supports have become for the back and legs. So much to love about the newest Escalade but also the seats since I love road trips just might be a deal breaker for me getting a new ESV Platinum. For comparison, I looked up the seats to see the changes over the models and this is what I found: 1999-2000 2001-2006 My seats are really comfy. 2007-2010 2011-2013 2014-2017

Cadillac Escalade up till 2008 was AWD all the time and a note in the owners guide that the back wheels had to be up also. You could not tow it like a normal RWD or FWD car. That has changed as the new 4WD systems have a disconnect now.
