  1. Could Skoda be the new VW? Could they leverage and change the signage at the VW dealerships to Skoda Signage? That is one way to change the marketing message and still move metal.
  2. Semi Drag Racing with a Load to the tune of TNT! Cannot get any better Diesel racing than this!
  3. Yawn, check it out, pretty cool racing and the stands are packed! Some great coverage from up on the highrise buildings in Berlin. How a Formula E car works.
  4. No. Because the Cadillac fans have a LT4 in the CTSV. Not only that.. The ATS-V is a car in and of itself. For your constant instigating questions I pose this.. f@#kin C63AMG or M3 fans have an issue that the ZL1 will have 200 more Hp than they? I am all for a mid engine supercar at GM but it should wear a wreath and crest (yes bring the wreath back) and not a Chevy badge. This I totally agree with you on, a Mid engine supercar should be under the Cadillac label not chevy. Leave the corvette where it is as with it's own history and give Cadillac a proper supercar with a mid engine and let it roar. Not a rebadge of a corvette, though I admit I am one of those that did like the XLR, they just did not push the envelope far enough with it to stand out and be special. Agree, have a 300HP Turbo 4 base Camaro at $20,000 and you will get plenty of buyers.
  5. RIGHT! So the Mustang is .5 lower CG, yet everything else is destroyed by the Camaro. The interior style, comfort, ergonomics, and styling comes across as Car and Driver is just throwing a bone to Ford as the Mustang is destroyed by the Camaro.
  6. Agree, a GT as a Kia just makes me laugh also as it does not fit in my head or in the real world of their auto's based on their reputation.
  7. This was expected, just another money loss and the announcement this week of using tesla stock to buy up his cousins money losing solar panel business is to divert attention from the fact that this company has not really delivered on what they say.
  8. Sounds like Kia GT line will be what Chevy did with SS on everything. I truly hope it works for them as it did not for Chevy.
  9. Sounds like a very capable truck, just ouch for the price tag. Then again I am sure GM when it releases their Chevy version of the midsize truck to compete will also be similarly priced for gas or about 3500 more if diesel.
  10. Seems like they are really behind what everyone else was really doing. Makes you question a company that makes everything from TV's to cars, trucks, cranes, etc. You truly cannot be everything as the ultimate company.
  11. But SUVs are also holding a number of other automakers together. See Buick, Volvo, Mazda, and Audi to name a few. True, but then we have those that also continue to say MB is all about the superior cars to everyone else. If this was true then their cars would still be selling like gangbuster rather than dropping double digits in comparison to the SUV/CUV. I just think this proves that MB is at the same wims of the public that everyone else is.
  12. So SUV's and Vans is what is holding MB together. Not their so called vaunted cars.
  13. We'll the company shot themselves in the leg when they said this software would do nothing for the bottom line and the stock tanked. They seem hell bent on self destruction. Weird way to build a business.
  14. Be interesting to see if it can produce Monster Fuel Economy or just as good MPG as the Hybrids. Personally, I think Diesel had it's day and that day is over. Hybrid and EVs time is now.
  15. According to the web site, they have not allowed the teams to build their own auto's yet. So very level playing field and a must for strategy and driver skill as to who wins.
  16. G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com Q4 Shipments of Chevy Bolt to begin According to the Detroit News, North America President Alan Batey production is moving forward and shipments are being setup for deliveries to dealers nationwide beginning Q4 2016. Well ahead of when Tesla will have out their Tesla 3 sedan supposedly. Produced at the company’s Orion Assembly Plant in Orion Township GM is very positive on the Bolt selling well even at a time of low fuel prices and an appetite for EVs being considered lukewarm by the press. GM states that Volt sales are up 74.5% for the First half of the year with 9,800 models sold to date. The average selling price is up $1,700 over the same period a year ago and the cars are turning over on the lots much faster than before. Research is expecting a 60% growth to 200,000 EV's sold this year in 2016. GM is very positive on the Bolt as no other auto maker has created and sold this kind of CUV before. Full Story
  17. Escalade Hybrids were built from 2009 to 2013 or 5 model years and while I have not been able to find specific numbers, cadillac is on record saying that the Hybrid was 20% of overall escalade sales. So if we take the total Escalade sales for each year: 2009 - 25,884 2010 - 26,874 2011 - 25,503 2012 - 22,632 2013 - 22,514 We have a total of 123,407 Escalades sold. 20% of that would mean they built 24,681 Hybrids. That is not a bad number, so I would question as to why they killed off a very green and desirable auto? After all MB and BMW have models that sell a fraction of this and are not killed off. So why is Cadillac so afraid of offering an EV in their full size Escalade? Inquiring minds want to know!
  18. G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com Season 3 Formula E Racing - New Look! Season 3 of Formula E racing is getting close and with that a new look for the race cars has emerged. Initially all that the Formula E racing was willing to release is the above photo. Yet only 24hrs later the Mahindra Racing Team unveiled their new ride via Twitter. Dilbagh Gill Tweet This now is being called the speed racer nose, as the car behind this front wing is essentially the same from last season. The front end nose was designed to give the E-Cars a more aggressive look with the same down force. Thoughts?
  19. Solar City is a bailout by Musk of his cousin if memory serves me right who could not run it profitably. Now I will agree with Musk that selling his power wall with the solar panels so it is a complete solution makes perfect sense to me.
  20. Seems South Korea is punishing VW hard with bigger than normal fines for the diesel mess and banning sale of 80 models of auto's. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/03/business/international/south-korea-volkswagen-emissions.html?_r=0 This latest push with a total recall covering 68% of VW and Audi auto's in the country pretty much shuts down VW / Audi in that country. This pretty much kills the dealerships in that country who sold VW & Audi. Multiple countries are now pushing and asking the US to push for a total of 11 million auto's to be recalled and taken off the roads. Could this be the death kill of VW?
  21. I actually think an EV Escalade not only makes sense but can be done now. Cadillac sold every Hybrid Escalade they built and it is rare to find the Cadillac, GMC or Chevy version of these Hybrids on the used car lot. People who own them love them and are holding onto them till GM brings out a replacement. I truly believe GM is missing out on a much desired market that no one has delivered on yet. I think this could work very well to Cadillac's "Dare Greatly" marketing message.
  22. I can see a few C&G members going bonkers over this racy little auto. http://www.skoda-auto.com/en/models/octavia-rs-230/ Octavia RS 230 I also noticed that they have no line of SUVs or CUVs so I can see why they are developing them. Would think a reSkin of existing VW CUVs would work like the twins between Porsche and VW has now. One area they will have to jump on is SKODA has NO EV's or Plug-in EV's. The Hybrid thing is totally missing from their lineup. You can see the VW tail lights on this mule they have on their Kodiaq home page. http://www.skoda-auto.com/en/models/kodiaq/
