  1. Cool to see what they build off these platforms.
  2. Way better looking than the butt ugly i3 car from BMW. that is truly ugly just like the Prius. I take this bolt over the BMW i3 or the prius any day. The Prius' drag coefficient is only 0.24 though. Huge difference. Tesla Model X is also 0.24! Who cares, in daily driving that little tiny bit does not make that big of a difference and the looks of the Bolt are way better than the Prius or Tesla IMHO. Efficiency is noticed daily. Every time you commute somewhere the vehicle's efficiency matters. Bolt looks terrible compared to the Tesla but better than the Prius, but that doesn't really matter as that isn't really the topic and it's opinion based anyway... If the 200 mile range Bolt could claim 220miles, wouldn't that be better? 0.08 isn't a "tiny" amount. If you keep the Bolt within city limits, it won't batter as your speeds will rarely see north of 40mph. Beyond that is where the benefits multiply for an efficient aero package on a vehicle. In thinking about this more, I bet Efficiency matters to about 25-35% of the population in an extreme manner and then another 25-35% will think about it but it will not be that big of an issue when they make a final decision on the auto they drive and the rest will not care at all. I fall into the last category, I do not care about efficiency as long as I get from point A to B comfortable and rested. If efficiency is there, BONUS. This comes from a guy that owns only full size SUVs with a suburban built out with a performance focused 402 V8 getting 9mpg loaded with people and pulling a trailer or empty just me driving.I love my space, comfort and high seating position. So Efficiency does not matter as to why I could care less about the .08 you are saying is so important. I found this story about trends and changes :http://www.strategyand.pwc.com/perspectives/2015-auto-trends Very interesting reading, I wish they covered the average CD of the auto industry as I think it is much higher than what is being discussed in this thread which would reinforce my feeling that only a small group really care about the CD numbers on an auto.

I understand what you are saying the the point being made. Yet GM is on Record that the battery in the BOLT is fully charged at 9rhs and you get 25 miles of range per hr charged so in essence they are saying the bolt has a 225 mile range and yet they are understandably saying 200+ till the EPA tests are done and certified and then we get the final number. LG also states that their battery packs have a range of 200 to 250 miles. So this makes me wonder just where the BOLT will end up at and at what speed is the final EPA number certified at. Might seem high to some folks and not the egg shape of Tesla or other experimental auto's but for a tall guy like me at 6'6" tall and wife that said it would be her next car so deposit down at Chevy, I am hoping that height of the BOLT equates to interior space that makes it a true 4 person car for tall people like me with a decent range.
  4. No one promises you work or a job for life, and business should never do it. Reality is you keep your trade skills sharp and learn new things or become unemployed. I am so sick of unions thinking they are superior and have to have promises of lifelong employment. Welcome to the 21st century and if you are that ignorant to not see this coming you deserve what you get.

  6. Posted 02 August 2016 - 12:08 PM G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com Rip Off or Compliment? Today MSN Auto asked and posted the following pictures on what people thought about one OEM auto company copying another OEM Auto company. This is very common in China where independent Chinese auto companies pretty much buy and clone every part in a established brand and sell it with no recourse or intellectual protection from the government for the name brands in comparison to markets like Europe and the US. 69 Mustang versus 73 Toyota Celica Bentley versus Lincoln Hummer Versus Dongfeng who still makes this Hummer rip off and sells to the Chinese military. Land Rover Versus Landwind Rolls Royce versus Geely Mercedes-Benz versus Kia Porsche versus Nissan So what are your thoughts? Should China enforce protecting intellectual property rights, should these companies have to pay for ripping off designs from other companies? How do you feel about it?
  7. Do not see any build and price, but just more info about it and a link to sign up for updates as it get closer to release. http://www.chevrolet.com/cruze-hatchback.html Have to say with the VOLT nose and the hatch backend, it is pretty nice looking.

  9. Interesting, I question this mix of some states with stores, some states with factory stores. I can see a nightmare of litigation from state to state about if dealership versus company owned store. I have no warm fuzzies about this succeeding.
  10. WOW, Talk about screeching tires and crazy Japan driving. Guess he really likes his spark!
  11. Bummer, sorry to hear about that Ocnblu, sucks when stuff like that happens, all the best to getting it fixed and back on the road ASAP. Tell us how you like the Sierra, ride, etc especially compared to your truck.
  12. Enjoy your electric Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  13. BMW I think failed in many ways with the i Series, too customer built, too high a price with too limited range. GM hit the note right and I think if MB does it right with range and style, they will succeed with BMW failed. I only hope Cadillac is being aggressive to build properly priced EV's and plug-in Hybrids into their lineup.
  14. Like all those 50-65 year olds with masters, doctorates and PHDs that are unemployed as they feel they do not have to change, continue to learn and move forward, the fact is EV's will not replace petro immediately, but climate change is real and even the arabs who are pushing education to build other industries outside of Oil know we are in the final decades of it's use. Countries are going to push to find a way to clean up emissions and while battery production is just another form of Greenhouse gas compared to petrol, EVs does make city living especially far better. For one that works in the auto industry, I would expect you to take a more embracing role as accidents will happen and you will still have work as long as you learn about the EVs so your shop can work on them. Jaguar's place could be a leading one if they do it right for style, design and performance plus range. This could make them a player rather than a fading footnote in history. Change is inevitable and just like all the spraying going on to kill the mosquito larvae to prevent Zitka, petros days are numbered I don't owe you an explanation. You assume that because I am anti-electrification that I haven't kept up my industry training. Hello Ocnblu, I am making a generalization in regards to learning. I know you have been attending training to keep your skills updated. I am just pointing out that I disagree with your own statement you posted about what Jaguar is doing. Have a great day!
  15. VW still has minimal recognition. Amazing ot hear people talk about VW and comment how does it survive? Their advertising is pathetic to non-existent. They screwed themselves with the diesel issue, I really wonder how they can survive outside of the really die hard fans.

  17. Sounds like a plan to compete with Tesla head on and just move to the Torque Monster EV's as default standard for all auto's.
  18. Way to soon for rust but then FORD - Fix or repair daily I know the brine on the roads takes it's toll, but still 3 years seems crazy for building rust bubbles. I too am interested in knowing where on the car are they. I would look for a clogged drain hole in the door, fender, etc. depending on where the rust bubbles are forming. It sounds like water is getting in but not draining out.
  19. Looking at the full Q2 Earnings Transcript is very interesting, so ATPs are up a full $1500 per auto across the board. Page 3 has some wondering insightful info. Net incomve raised 150% year over yre http://www.gm.com/content/dam/gm/mol/docs/GM-2016-Q2-Earnings-Transcipt.pdf
  20. Links please, I have not found anything but rumors and would love to read if there is true information that GM is moving the Corvette to DOHC V8 engines. The weight gain would go against the weight loss they have been doing while still getting amazing performance out of the Pushrod V8. OK, My bad, Did not realize Corvette started in 1990 to offer a standard OHV V8 and a DOHC V8. http://www.edmunds.com/chevrolet/corvette/history/ Interesting to see the history line of what came when on Corvettes from the very beginning of their time line. 2nd update, really interesting going through the history, so in 1997 with the new model they dropped all engines and came out with the new 5.7 aluminum block. Since then they have had various sizes of the single in block came OHV engines making amazing HP and Torque. So we are then back to the rumors only of a DOHC Turbo V8. This from GM that talks about their silky smooth 335HP V6 yet only 283 Lbs of Torque just confirms for me that DOHC is no big deal. http://www.gm.com/mol/m-2015-may-2016-camaro-0516-camaro-powertrains.html One might as well just go turbo 4 or V8 and not waste time with the fat, over weight under torque DOHC V6.
