  1. So I want to focus on your first main point that is totally wrong. Can't Tow, Can't Haul, Can't work. I covered this back on June 2nd Electric Axles and the 4WD Ford F150 EV Pickup. 448HP 2,300 lbs feet of torque from a dead stop ProTean Electric which builds in-wheel motors is actively reaching out to OEMs around the world about using their motors to offer EV products that loose nothing. This design allowed them to take a 2009 Ford F150 Pickup and dump the existing powertrain, including driveline, heavy axle and create an 4WD Pickup without having to touch the existing handling characteristics by putting the battery pack in the exact center of the auto to keep the truck hauling and handling just like Ford Engineered it to be. So they lost nothing in hauling, but gained big time in towing. This prototype they went with just a 100KWh battery pack so about 150 miles on a charge, but they could have gone bigger for longer range. Just as proven with the new EV buses that set a world record at 603 miles on a single charge. EV is going to radically change the way auto's are done and we will see a faster change to them than most people are willing to acknowledge right now. Yet what you state is exactly what the public is telling the auto manufacturers, they want that 200-300 mile range in an EV. Sales of EV's with 100 to 150 miles did not ignite the market. BOLT at 238 miles and the Tesla 3 concept at 215+ is what has ignited the market. People want less maintenance, they want simple to drive cars that are feature rich. Woman especially do not want to deal with dirty petro. Having an auto with 200+ miles of range, so you plug it in every 3-4 days just like you would fuel your petro car is what the public is asking for. GM was the first to deliver a mass market auto and with that, we will see it take off as I bet everyone of the BOLTs they build for 2017 will sell.
  2. EV, build like the EV Bus, a full size Van with one massive 300-400 KWh battery pack, the skateboard concept and I bet they would sell every one of those EV Commercial vans as the savings over the long haul would pay for themselves due to less maintenance, no emission, quiet. These would make great city delivery vans for UPS, FedEx, etc.
  3. Fall weather, sore throats, why is the change over so sucky!
  4. Outstanding, this has been long in coming and should help to thin out the ranks of those that really do not care about building a luxury dealership. Get those that want to compete and beat the competition incentives to do just that and get us the supporters of Cadillac nicer dealerships, services, etc.
  5. RANG Anxiety Peeps The FUTURE is here now. The following companies, Blink, ABB's just installed the first 150KWh Fast chargers at Europe gas stations. People can go in including tesla and fill up any size battery pack in 15-30 min depending on the capacity and yes these chargers do take into account Tesla's newest 100KWh battery pack. As long as the EV supports the maximum KWh, they will get these charges. Now BOLT is stated to get software updates over their WIFI system just like TESLA does and TESLA has updated all their cars to handle faster chargers. It is only a matter of time that gas stations install these fast chargers and people then stop by a station to fill up their battery, grab a drink and go. Some great information on batteries, chargers and the future are here in this multipart series about the technology. Part 1 What is Fast Charging? Part 2 How does fast charging work? Part 3 The future of fast charging! Part 4 Fast charging capacity and economies of Scale. Based on the 4 part series above, it is very REAL and Possible that by 2020 we will have 4 min Fast chargers that will make the petro auto a dinosaur! DO NOT FEAR CHANGE BUT EMBRACE IT!
  6. I changed over from a gas lawn mower to an EGO lawn mower, blower and weed wacker. Bought the 3 pack and love how quiet and emission free they are over the gas powered items. EGO Power Plus 56V powered equipment that allows you to get your yard work done easier and noise free just about with no need for ear plugs like gas powered devices.
  7. Gotta Love the minimal maintenance, tires, brakes, cabin filter change at every 22K miles. What is not to love about this CUV! Trailblazer SS uses Premium Fuel, I live in WASHINGTON State, one of the states with the highest gas taxes around. We are in the top 5 states for gas tax. Such as our gas is always much higher than most other places. You can see it here, but 61.0 cents per gallon is the gas tax. http://www.gaspricewatch.com/web_gas_taxes.php http://taxfoundation.org/blog/state-gasoline-tax-rates-2016
  8. On the west coast, the states do not charge any sales tax for the purchase of an EV auto. So the Bolt is $37,495 - $7,500 = $29,995 and I am not spending $4348 on fuel since my electrical rates are so cheap, so as you state, I also do not have the oil charge cost. For me this is still a much better deal and the wife does not deal with fuel, smell of fuel, she also gets preferred parking in Seattle when she comes into the city, most of the time, I will save closer to the full $4800 fuel cost since all the chargers in washington state that are not privately owned are free, so I can charge up for free. Road trips, no problem as all the chargers along I5 from Vancouver BC to Baja California are also free. Pretty much if you look at the Electric Highway web site, you will see that there is no problem getting all over with an EV, not just city use only. No emissions, no gas smell, quiet as all get out, wife happy. This still beats the cruze.
  9. Much appreciated, WOW that is amazing to see just how poorly the European and Asian labels did. It does prove America has gotten their act together in building better auto's.
  10. Per the Bloomberg story, http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-09-22/tesla-lawsuit-claims-michigan-direct-sales-ban-unconstitutional The only states that bane direct sales are Michigan, Texas, Connecticut and Utah.
  11. Can someone post the list, the link is blocked by my work.
  12. Whisper Whisper, can you tell it is a diesel? That will surprise peeps. Again, I hope the up front cost is minimal as 1,500-2,000 is a good upgrade cost, but if they go 3,000 + then they will have lost the chance to move them well.
  13. G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com Germany's First Hydrogen Train Yesterday Germany introduced to the world the first long distant Hydrogen train, the Coradia iLint can travel 497 miles per tank load of Hydrogen fuel, carry 300 people per train. This new train is slated to start service Dec 2017 in Germany. The plan is to replace all 4,000 diesel trains that Germany says is contributing to their Acid Rain problem with clean emission free Hydrogen trains. According to the various news reports, this new breakthrough train was developed in only 2 years. The company that did the development work is Alstom of France and they are hoping to get the whole European Union to convert their rail network to this new generation of clean emission-free trains. Interior is very spacious and designed to put travelers at ease with clear vision of the outside while allowing plenty of room for packages, bags, etc.
  14. Tesla had an email announcement about their newest software. Enhancements to the display that improves maps and autopilot, more intuitive media player and what they are touting as an industry first, Cabin Overheat Protection focused on Child and Pet safety. This is a feature that keeps the interior of the car at a safe temp when the car is off, as they stated made possible by their large battery packs.
  15. So how goes that workout routine, toning up the body for a better life style? Shitting out the bad and in with the good or have we slacked off the slippery slope?
  16. What a lovely CUV! Honestly if you look at the over all shap, same as the old one generally speaking, but they went and gave it some sexy body lines which built character into the car, used a freakin kick ass color with two-tone interior. What is not to love about this car. I am happy they went with a torquey diesel option. It will be interesting to see how many people take the diesel based on the cost GM charges for it. If it is like 1500 to 2000 dollars, then it is a no brainer. But if they go over that, I think it will be a hard sell. Diesel with AWD would make this an awesome CUV. If they keep the same engine lineup in the Terrain which I am expecting to be more butch, then this will really rock!
  17. Forgot to mention, that I had bought her an Escalade ESV to drive and she then went to college and found it hard to park in the UW parking garages and asked me for a smaller awd SUV. I then bought the Trailblazer for her which she has loved for the performance, but is tired of the rumble of the exhaust and the gas smell from fueling.
  18. I love my SS and have no plans to get rid of it, but the wife is tired of filling it up and wants a car with no gas smell, clean and easy to just drive. She is very OCD and as such has containers of antiseptic wipes in each auto so you can clean your hands after filling up. This will be her auto to drive, not mine. As she says, all the current auto's I own are in my name, my choice and she really likes the BOLT and likes the idea of just driving home, plugging in the charging cord and going inside to do her thing. This is her choice to go fueless. Yes we could have gotten a different American CUV that would cost less on gas, but the SS is paid for, no other cost than insurance and gas. Based on the savings / monthly cost of the BOLT, she will have what she wants. An auto that does not smell when fueled, quiet, preferred parking in Seattle and it will be her quick lighting fast CUV! This car will be her car in all things chosen and in name. Me, I will enjoy all my SUV's I own and drive around like a bat out of hell.
  19. Interesting, I wonder just how many they will really sell? Must be a push by VW Corp to recover as fast as they can cost associated with the Diesel mess now that diesel is in the toilet. I also wonder if anyone will buy one of these and private import it into the US.
  20. Just an example of my wife using our Trailblazer SS @ 14MPG average, she is spending $400 a month on all her crazy driving. Now with a Bolt, that goes to $37.63 per month / $451.56 per year cost. A savings of $362.37 per month or savings of $4348.44 per year on fuel by switching to electric. Yes, I know that means using plenty of Level 3 Quick chargers, but the life of the battery and the savings over time is huge still and worth it to me.
  21. Per what I posted in the thread on the 238MPe EPA rating: Just as an example, Washington state has some of the cheapest if not the cheapest electrical rates in the country. We have level 1 to 3 chargers all over and the cities are pretty much letting you charge for free at this time to get people to convert over. BOLT, 238 miles on their 60 KWh battery, at 6 cents per KW equals $3.60 cents to fill up the battery. At 1000 miles per month, you have $15.12 per month energy cost to drive that 1000 miles. That compared to my trailblazer at $2.25 per gallon, getting an average of 14 miles per gallon, costs just over $400 per month to fuel. EDIT: Before anyone says anything, yes my wife drives much more than the 1000 miles, but I used that as an example of how much sense this BOLT makes as a commuter car, daily driver. I can take my paid for Trailblazer SS and just enjoy it on road trips, weekends but also buy the BOLT and still come out ahead in local driving. Gotta Love the Video's Chevy is doing on the BOLT! Love the fact that this little CUV is 128 MPe City and 110 MPe highway.
  22. As much as I love GM, I have to agree with ccap41 and others that in today's 21st century, companies should have the right to sell direct and not have to have a dealership. Tesla has Petboys work on their auto's so that does not conflict with the manufacturer working on their own auto's. Direct sales rock!
  23. Alpha being reborn to save the Italian union is a theft of dollars that were generated by the US divisions and should have been reinvested in those companies not to bring back a money bleeding label that most people care less about. Fiat is a joke, poor quality shit that just should be killed off and closed. Making poor quality auto's just to keep folks employed is stupid. FCA needs to Drop the Fiat / Alpha and focus on building great autos out of the Chrysler/Dodge/Ram/Jeep line and take them global.
