  1. Car thief gives up in despair when he can't drive a stick! http://www.msn.com/en-us/video/downtime/bumbling-thief-aborts-carjacking-after-realizing-he-cant-drive-stick-shift/vi-AAjeWiG?ocid=UP94DHP This is too funny, guy holds up another young man and asks for the keys and tells the guy to get out. After a couple minutes trying to figure out how to put the car in drive, gives up and flees. The car was a 5 speed manual. Guess carjackers are not all well versed in driving everything.
  2. G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com China's Solution to Mass Transit, Drive Over the Cars! China has decided that due to the population they have and the mass transportation that a different way of thinking is needed. They came up with the idea that if the buses drove over the auto's they could use the same road for both personal and mass transit. These buses would hold 1000 people at a time. As such, they had this video and mock model of what it would look like posted here on the BBC web site: BBC Video on proposed buses This seem to go over well and as such, a large circle route was done with a fully functional 300 person capacity bus that has now gone into alpha testing, but by the looks of it could actually be in use now. This alpha is officially called the TEB-1 "Transit Elevated Bus 1" and this TEB-1 stands 16 feet tall, glides over two lanes of traffic and the inside comparment is 72 feet by 26 feet, yet with few seats as most are expected to stand for their trip. With China testing and playing out new ideas for mass transit, this does bring up the question: Would the US consider building dedicated routes that have the tracks to supports these types of buses? Would people accept making some roads passenger cars only roads to allow dedicated buses like this? One thing is that this would force from Semi trucks to regular pickup trucks / SUV's anything over the normal passenger car height to stay to their own roads compared to using all roads. SO what do you all think, could this be a solution to say the Washington DC circle or other high traffic flow routes that needs to move mass people from point A to B? Or is this a China only Solution? 300 person Bus driving over auto's by Washington Post
  3. Awesome to learn stuff about old auto's, Thank you Mr. B
  4. This is one Secy looking car! Would never own a low car but I can sure appreciate this beauty.
  5. I was not to aware of how they are doing, but like the idea of merging to allow Tesla to sell a complete Wall with charging panels as a one stop solution. What I do remember was that his cousin who was running Solarcity was not doing that great of a job I thought. Either way, I think the merge of Solarcity with Tesla is a win win.
  6. Ford is right to push forward with Aluminum, but they need to see how GM has used high strength steel to reduce weight. The aluminum bed and panels only got Ford to where GM already was with using high strength steel. Ignoring FCA American Divisions, GM and FORD both have plenty of potential in their trucks, GM is ahead with cars and SUVs is my personal opinion. EV auto's also and I have to think this is due to Ford Debt in comparison to GM. GM needs to keep pushing new tech and moving towards Hybrid everything, EV's at least one in each of the 5 product lines. Ford needs to update their cars, get current with a better EV and seriously change Lincoln.
  7. I also wonder especially now that they are buying Solarcity. How will all that expense flush out.
  8. G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com Tesla Reports First Profit after 12 Quarterly Losses! Surprise, Surprise, Tesla posts a $22 million profit for it's latest quarter. How did Tesla do this? Wall Street Story WSJ reports that Tesla reports the following numbers: Selling pollution tax credits to other auto makers. Gross profit from the credits soared to $139 million from $39 million a year ago. Revenue is up to $2.3 billion from $936.8 million a year earlier. Tesla said it generated free cash flow, repaid $600 million in debt and finished September with $3.1 billion in cash, a decline of $162 million from the end of June. Tesla also lowered its forecast for capital spending this year to $1.8 billion from $2.25 billion. About $1 billion of that spending could occur in the fourth quarter, it said. Shares were up 5% to $212.05 in after-hours trading on Wednesday. WSJ says this has been helped by Tesla's newest Model S version that starts now at $66,000 which contributed greatly to their bottom line as the Q3 was the first full quarter of Entry level Model S sales. Barclays auto analysts has stated that Tesla will need $2.5 billion through the end of 2017 for the Model 3 rollout and completion of the battery factory. WSJ Web Page Story
  9. So true, I have never had kids of my own yet biology does not make a dad. I married an amazing woman who left her arranged marriage when Amy was 8, Alex was 4 and I raised them as my own. They are now 33 & 29, both college educated and successful. Amy works for Tommy Bahama and Alex works for a High Tech startup. I truly believe, good parents can be anyone that cares to raise productive individuals who can support and drive themselves to success.
  10. Cannot agree with this statement more! Lots of Kids in the world that can be adopted and would love to have Drew as a Dad.
  11. Update, seems some of the pricing for individual items and packages is finally making it out from Dealers. Per the GM-Volt web site, they got their hands on the following info from a Oklahoma Chevy Dealer: Quote The pricing info provided by the Oklahoma dealer, David Stanley Chevrolet, otherwise looks like legitimate data supplied by Chevrolet. Further, some prospective Bolt customers have said their dealers told them this pricing info would be made available yesterday. Assuming so, it’s likely other dealers with access to the trim price details will begin posting as well. Following are prices that until now have not been disclosed.2017 Bolt EV LT • Driver confidence package – $495 • Comfort and convenience package – $555 • Rear cargo storage shelf – $100 2017 Bolt EV Premier • Driver confidence II – $495 • Infotainment package – $485 Common options • Kinetic Blue, Cajun Red, Orange Burst paint colors – $395 Aluminum sill plates – $85 • DC charging – $750 (this was disclosed previously) • Extra portable charge cord – $535 Limit promotional pricing • Universal tablet holder (2) mounting behind front headrests for rear seat entertainment – $115 • All-weather floor mats – $140 • All-weather cargo mat – $110
  12. You ROCK Drew, that was a perfect story relating the realities of the D3! Drew for President!
  13. Good to hear that, they should take the Camaro and make it a Halo car for Holden.
  14. Bravo for going bigger so us big folks might actually fit and consider one. Boo for the piss poor Hybrid. They should have at least a 50 to 60 mile range in that battery pack. Pathetic.
  15. I feel this will be a big disappointment to those that have had Commodore SS in the past. going from V8 powered RWD to FWD V6, is not going to deliver the same experience. Goodluck, your going to need it.
  16. Totally agree, they rated the Escalade the worst luxury SUV due to cramped interior and poor infotainment system. WTF, I am 6'6" tall and at 280lbs not small, yet the current Escalade is very roomy for me, so what is cramped as they are so vague it is pathetic. CR is not objective but clearly agenda driven by the Asians who pay the most to advertise in their piss poor magazines and books.
  17. Be interesting to see how this stands up against the vaunted MB S and AMG versions. Bet they have a Hybrid / EV version too.
  18. G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com Bosch Selling WaterBoost Injection for Turbo Engines Seems since BMW M4 using a Bosch water injection system that works, Bosch has decided this is what the future is for all turbo engines and has come out with a solution kit to sell to all OEMs of Turbo Engines called WaterBoost. Essentially this is added to the intake side with a water vapor injection to cool the piston, increasing density and driving longer life and more power from the engine. This technology is not new and has been around since WWII when it was used in supercharged planes to assist during hard maneuvers and intense battle fights. The early days of water injection for auto's started with the 1962 Oldsmobile Cutlass Turbo Jetfire, water injection made another appearance in the 1980's in Formula 1 cars. Bosch states 2019 for kit availability to OEMS and aftermarket. As per the Seattle Times story, biggest challenge will be to get the OEMs to redesign their intake system to accept the waterboost injector and customers having to refill the storage bottle with Distilled water. The second issue might not be so hard at least for Diesel owners who are already used to filling up their Urea bottles to clean up their emissions. Yet will the average petro driver want to deal with refilling a water bottle on the engine and how long will the water bottle last, what happens once it is empty, will the engine still run or stop or detune? Interesting times we live in for the auto industry builders. Big question is what is the cost? Will it be worth the 5% greater engine performance, 13% less fuel consumption and 4% less CO2 emitted per the Bosch web site? Info Source Bosch web site Seattle Times web site

  20. MB has failed, the car is hideous with a cheap looking front grill on it and the TT V8 turbo is pathetic. HP and Torque are under what I can get in a Cadillac. So how is this better than the CTS-V? Bigger failure to me is that this is an E Class AMG and in the past they have always outgunned everyone else in HP and Torque. It stops at 155mph when the Cadillac V series tops out at 200mph. Transmission is splitting hairs between 8 and 9 gears. The CTS-V beats this with 640 HP / 630 lb-ft of torque. The only thing I will give it Kudos for is the AWD to RWD / Drift mode. That is cool and I have always felt that the V series needs AWD to go to the next level. Nice try MB, but you failed to push the limits as an AMG.
  21. I realize this is just computer generated images, but the outside is just blah, the interior is even worse. The dash just does not work as it looks like a hatchet job. This will sell to badge snobs but the rest will look to more established better built mid size trucks. The GM twins beat this hands down.
  22. Not even sure where to begin on this, ccap summed it up pretty good. Meh!
  23. More money to come in working to settle this mess. Plus I have to challenge the statement harm to Diesel fuel. Yes with proper treatment the exhaust can be clean and diesel engines are torque monsters, but diesel is still a very dirty fuel that harms the planet. This did not harm it as it is already bad to begin with. It for sure did not help it. Be interesting to see how all the individual lawsuits are handled or thrown out, or what?
