  1. I will start off by saying I am thankful to my Family and friends for the support and friendship I have had this year. Especially as I joined the ranks of cancer survivors. So I am very happy to be here enjoying my passion for auto's, wine and life. I want to thank everyone at C&G from @Wings4Life & @FordCosworth who debate with me, to so many others all the way to our awesome writer @William Maley and our fearless leader @Drew Dowdell. Thank you for letting me be part of this Forum, being friends and departing your knowledge of the industry and take on things. Diversity is what gives us a rich full life and I am very happy to have had more than my fair share. I will be out celebrating my 25th wedding anniversary with my wife and kids from Dec 16th to Jan 1st. I will pop in from time to time, but wishing you all an outstanding holiday season and a amazing start to a new year full of exciting technology from our smartphones to our auto's. Thank you all for being a very important part of my life.
  2. Howdy fellow C&G forum members. This week with the debates in many different threads it got me to thinking and I decided why wait till 2017 when we are so close, I wanted to start this sooner rather than later. So please post what you are thankful for in regards to the forum, friends, enemy's family, life in general. Share good and bad of what has made you thankful for in 2016!
  3. https://my.chevrolet.com/content/dam/gmownercenter/gmna/dynamic/manuals/2017/Chevrolet/BOLT EV/Owner's Manual.pdf PDF file of the 2017 Chevy BOLT, Yes on page 322 it states: Like all batteries, the amount of energy that the high voltage “propulsion” battery can store will decrease with time and miles driven. Depending on use, the battery may degrade as little as 10% to as much as 40% of capacity over the warranty period. If there are questions pertaining to battery capacity, a dealer service technician could determine if the vehicle is within parameters. This is not different than any other auto with a battery even ICE. So no big deal. Yes ICE even loose HP / Torque over time depending on how well they are taken care of. Amazing how wide of range that can happen. Check out page 313 for Maintenance schedule. I would like to see any ICE that has that minimal maintenance.
  4. So much to love about what is on the Holden web site including the Ute. https://www.holden.com.au/ Love. their recordings of the engine and the black edition.
  5. @oldshurst442 The video of the bus and cars sliding down did catch the political hags off guard, no one bought the BS they shoveled and they were out the next election, the current idiots only thing they did right is properly prep now for these storms and we have not had issues like 2010. I hope all goes smoothly this week and wishing you the best for the winter too.
  6. Interesting as I honestly could not tell much from the pictures, so glad others can see details I missed. Thank you,
  7. Seattle is calling for 2-4 inches of snow tomorrow, Local Paper posted pictures and videos of what happened last time. Snow-ageddon and all forms of crazy will happen now with our hills. http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/weather/snow-wimps-when-snow-falls-in-seattle-it-gets-ugly/
  8. Cool, but are we really sure this is a Chevy and not a mule for some Buick or Cadillac?
  9. I updated my post above stating that I am clarifying this is my take on the stories. Yet if you watch the interview these are some of the very clear statements made by Ford CEO. This leave much to be wondered and I am seeing more and more stories along this same thought process from other news outlets. So one has to wonder ........... “Well when you look at the policy recommendations we support, obviously we will continue to advocate for currency manipulation rules, for free and fair trade; we’ll continue to support comprehensive tax reform — and to your point, we want to make sure that fuel economy regulations are aligned with market realities. “And I think we’ll engage as we always have done in very positive discussions with the administration and policymakers on what that means not only for our business, but importantly, what does it mean in terms of providing jobs and economic growth here in the United States?” “Well, I think — when we agreed to the one national standard back in 2011, one of the things we agreed to was a checkpoint in 2018 — what they call a midterm review. And listen, as a company, we want to make sure that our vehicles are as easy on the planet as possible. We want to have great fuel economy for our customers. But we also want to make sure that those regulations are aligned with how consumers are reacting to some of the new technologies and the new economic realities. And that’s the discussion we want to have, because we want to make sure our vehicles provide great customers satisfaction but customers can afford it and it can provide economic growth in the country.”
  10. Stumbled across this story on the BBC that shows that 4 major cities will have a ban on all diesel auto's and Trucks by 2025. http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-38170794 Paris Mexico City Madrid Athens These four cities are implementing complete bans on Diesel to improve air quality. Campaigners are pushing to have London Diesel free also by 2025. Very interesting read, plus I see they are converting more roads into bicycle lanes only. Bummer but the future is an ICE free future for many cities
  11. You watch the interview and interpret how you take it. Pretty much all the stories give a very mixed bag of how Ford with their Compliance EV's and Hybrids really would deal with moving tech forward. I am left with the impression that Ford would keep things static as long as they made profits and paid themselves well in comparison to moving forward with better propulsion systems. For you Wings we will have to almost always agree to disagree as you see Ford as perfect, I see a different side to Ford. These stories pretty much state that.
  12. AWD V6 AWD w/ V8 FCA giving us quality real products the customer wants
  13. I loved their first commercial that shows it being all the other opels.
  14. Just found this new commercial for the European version of the Bolt Opel Ampera-e This is awesome, we need commercials like this here.
  15. G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com 20 years from EV1 to Bolt EV Green Car Reports did an outstanding job on reviewing the last 20 years from the GM ev1 to the Chevy Bolt EV. This is a very solid read for anyone that is interested in knowing where we started and are at today with the EV. Good writeup and some very interesting news about the EV industry and reconfirmation of what is being done.
  16. Exactly, I am still on the Note 3 and was going to go to a Note 7 but have to wait for the Note 8 out April 11th 2017 in the US.
  17. Clarify, This is my take on reading the stories, watching the interviews and how I perceive Fords CEO take on this. Interesting is the recent interview by Ford CEO Mark Fields which clearly states that if possible they would have trump stop all efforts moving forward to make cleaner auto's as he says that with 55 models on the market, which is only 2.8% of the auto sales, there is no market for EV's or hybrids. Yet earlier in the year he contradicts himself and even admits that everything FORD has built to date is compliance EV's / hybrids. On top of this Ford CEO says no reason to not move production to other countries unless tax breaks are given to FORD. Trump has clearly now made us hostage to companies to move jobs out of country without tax breaks being given. Dec 2nd Bloomberg Story Pressure on auto companies without reducing EPA requirements for making auto's. Sees no market for EV's. Bloomberg Interview Where Ford CEO says he will work with Trump to reduce requirements by states and gov to allow making autos more profitable. Pretty much says no market for EV's / Hybrids. CleanTechnica Story where ford states that currently everything is compliance and by 2030 Ford is now reviewing on how to build real EV / Hybrid auto's. Rueters Small Car production moving to Mexico along with Compliance EV / hybrid auto production. Very interesting as this would tend to say that if they get money from the GOV, they will do all the right things in building EV / Hybrid auto's otherwise no need to build better auto's let us just build what we have. GM on the other hand clean sheet the BOLT and from what I have seen it will be a big success for them. Battery tech was always the thing holding back EV auto's. The future will go to those that embrace it.
  18. Gotta love the Raptor! Wish the Power Wagon was at this level also. I think RAM and GM could both offer on par off road trucks that would sell well.
  19. Forgot to mention that FF has also signed with LG Chem to supply all their battery packs for their auto's and that they have anounced via tweeter that they will have one of the highest density packs for long range driving. More details to some at CES. January is shaping up to be an exciting month.
  20. G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com Faraday Future Teaser, Pre-order, Reveal and More! Faraday Future emailed out yesterday Dec 6th 2016 confirming that they will at the Jan 5th - 8th CES show in Las Vegas reveal their production ready EV auto. They have also tweeted this and posted to their web site pictures and video's. Interesting is the pictures from Autoblog where you can see their first EV will be more CUV style I think than car. Better yet is that they are clearly using Tesla as a Bench mark.
  21. Have to totally agree with Blu here and I have raised eyebrows about the Holden. I wonder how much in lost sales they will have with a FWD versus RWD small models of their car line. On the flip side, these are nice looking auto's that should do well in the market place. I just wish the Coupe 4 door sedan look would end. So tired of that look.
