Howdy all, So doctors are coming in a bit to tell us the game plan. I totally agree about taking care of myself. I have already built a schedule for family and friends that have offered to stay with my mom in 8hr shifts. I am sleeping tonight and since I did the bulk of the stay with mom, everyone told me to take tomorrow off. So Skiing I go to get a good burn and work out. To bed tonight for a decent night sleep, ski and then after I get back home check in with the family. Wishing you all the best with your own family and Friends and hoping for a better flow as we move on with 2017.

Kia News: Kia Stinger Could Boast Hybrid and Electric Powertrains

EV and Hybrid should be in everyone's plans moving forward. -
Thank you all for your wishes and my heart out to you all dealing with senior parents. Never easy. Just got home from the hospital. The MRI's have shown she had a total of 3 mini strokes. Doctors say she will fully recover with therapy and that it was caused by the stints they put in which causes minor blood vessels to reopen breaking the calcification causing the strokes. They are monitoring her to make sure no more complications as they also start therapy. Off to shower and back to work and plenty of caffeine. Crash this weekend when my sister stay with her. Sadly neither of my sisters can push through multiple days of staying awake with caffeine like me. Have a great Day to those excited for the new Prez and my condolences to those that feel this is a Dumb and Dumber Inauguration.

I see your point you are making and will agree to disagree. He was an obsessive controller, he know what he wanted and to hell with everyone else. It might never have come to him in email or letter form or any group presentation, but he would want to know the details of how they were getting this done and when it would be ready. I doubt he was that blind to it. Can VW get his outrageous golden parachute returned as they will need it to help pay the fines.

I get what you are saying and yes many products require Oil to be made. Still pissed with the Oil companies but I do get the point your making about pricing for Oil and currency manipulation. Still do not like it, but understand it. -
OK, I am putting EVERYONE on notice that My 2017 officially SUCKS! If I am short or snippy it is because I spent last weekend at the Hospital after my mom had a heart issue and got two stints. Just got to work as my sisters took over after I spent the night at the hospital again as my mom had a stroke yesterday. Fuck 2017! This year officially SUCKS!

BMW News: BMW To Begin Production of 2017 Diesel Vehicles
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in BMW
I think all auto companies are rethinking their Diesel strategy and I believe this could be the last go around by those that do get their EPA certification. Was looking at Def and shocked that MB on their Diesels charge $317 to refill the DEF tank which is needed to be filled twice a year based on 12,000 miles driven. Costs are much higher than they used to be for driving Diesel and I do not see the MPG off setting that cost much. I think Hybrid and EV's will clearly replace the so called benefit of having a Diesel car or SUV. I really only see value in having a Diesel in the trucks or FULL SIze SUV's like a suburban. The torque could be well used there. Course EV's once Batteries get better will replace that too. -
Cool, not a mini van person but still very cool! Will be a hit for the Pot head Crowd! Guess that covers much of Washington, Colorado, California!

Good Question, I wonder who could answer who is using the MB Pee Solution versus building their own pee solution or an afterburner solution which is how I believe GM is doing it. GM's on PDF is an interesting read: http://www.chevrolet.com/content/dam/Chevrolet/northamerica/usa/nscwebsite/en/Home/Ownership/Manuals and Videos/02_pdf/SilveradoHD_DEF.pdf Wikipedia and Yes I know take it with a grain of salt states that VW is now licensing their BluTec solution. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BlueTec Interesting Read on the EPA and their emission testing: http://www.autonews.com/article/20160927/OEM11/160929847/the-car-emissions-sleuth-whos-costing-fiat-chrysler-5-billion Interesting emissions story about VW and the rest of the auto industry with a good chart showing real emissions in testing. http://www.which.co.uk/news/2015/09/vw-diesel-emissions---its-only-half-the-story-416730/ 2007 based but good paper on Diesel emissions and control solutions: http://www.meca.org/galleries/files/MECA_Diesel_White_Paper_12-07-07_final.pdf Cool Info on Detroits DEF solution for their Class 8 Semi's https://demanddetroit.com/why-detroit/emissions/ Interesting info on the Wiki page about Emissions for the US auto market. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_emission_standards Some very good info on DEF. http://ppcdefsolutions.com/ Still I could not find a listing of who has built their own DEF exhaust solution versus licensing from MB the original DEF emissions solution builder.

I get what you say and why I love EV's, the best way to BREAK the back of BIG OIL and their stupid Billions they get in R&D grants while making 100's of billions in profit by screwing over the little guy. Time to change things up, sadly we are on DUMB & DUMBER Inauguration day! -

G. David Felt replied to G. David Felt's topic in Alternative Fuels & Propulsion
According to a recent Forbes story more states are now charging additional fees for EV auto's. As you know Indiana has their $150 annual fee for EV's. Now add the following to the list: Georgia has started a $200 annual fee. Idaho has a $100 annual fee. Michigan has a $30 annual fee. Wyoming ch -

In the US, most states have either emission testing that is done or safety check before you can renew your license. This would be the time to record the odometer. Unless they go GPS module that is also installed in older auto's, they will only ever have my Odometer to check my miles in my 94 Suburban. So true Drew, I hate and do not play the suck up game of Office Politics. I have come to accept it, I make a solid good income and still working on a way to make my own company dream come true. -
And that is why EV's are AWESOME! No messy oil changes, gas fill ups, etc. Nice Clean plug-in.

I agree with Drew, some of us work damn hard and rarely get promoted and yet we survive merges, downsizing, up-sizing and seem to never get promoted. I also due to the work ethic my parents instilled in me will never do anything but 100%+ effort. I eventually will find my true calling that allows me to work for myself and achieve my wealth desire. Desire to work hard, make society better and grow can make even those of us who have been screwed by others a far more optimist than many others who get beat up once and quite. I have found that most of my growth has come from moving onto new startups and taking on new challenges than from promotions and I admit, I do not play politics well so that will always be a hurtful thing to my career since many others that do next to nothing but can kiss ass so well end up promoted even with their stinky brown lips. -

I can see your concern if it was GPS based, but here in washington I have volunteered to test out the tax per mile and all it is is them reading your computer for the miles recorded driven, that gives them nothing of where you have gone or done. I see nothing wrong with a Tax per mile and each year your odometer is read. -
I can totally believe this, MB wanted a fortune for their Pee solution and VW balked and as such we have VWgate.

G. David Felt replied to G. David Felt's topic in Alternative Fuels & Propulsion
So then should it be broken down by weight class. Amazing is the listing of State weight fees. For auto's depending on state, they are no extra fees up to 4000 to 8000lbs, after that, depending on if it is a regular auto or class C they have various fees up to 300,000lbs in some cases. Most states seem to top out between 40,000 and 80,000. http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/ohim/hwytaxes/2001/pt11.htm In thinking about this, I would agree an Auto regardless of class over 6000lbs does put more wear on the roads than under that. 0-6000 lbs 6000 - 12,000 lbs 12,001 - 40,000 lbs 40,001 - above lbs. I can see this as a fare weight class with no added fees for the first class, 1/3 of a cent for the second, 2/3rds of a cent for the third class and a full 1 cent added cost to the fourth and final weight class. -

Very True, I put myself through College while working full time and very little help from my parents. Amounted to living at home rent free and eating dinner with them when I could. I put my two kids and wife through college and am paying it off, just a few more years left. I will agree with Drew, College has become a profit center which favors the rich and screws the rest unless your a minority and can get them to pay it all for you. Sadly, being white and making too just enough money over their so called income line kept me from being able to take advantage of any perks to reduce the cost of college. 12 years straight and two kids and wife all with Bachelor degrees and eventually I will come out ahead but tough doing. Over all I stand by my statement of Minimum wage is very much needed for teens. That should NOT be a living wage. BACK ON TOPIC What do people think of the Tax Per mile? ????????????? -
indiana Indiana Slaps new fee on EV's.
G. David Felt replied to G. David Felt's topic in Alternative Fuels & Propulsion
EV Tax - Back on topic, but I truly think a tax per mile is the best way to go even over a kWh used counter thing. EV's just like any alternative fuel auto needs to pay it's fair share for road use. Tax per mile is a very fair way to go. Example is the Fed rate of 18.4 cents per gallon at an average of 25 miles per gallon for auto's with 12,000 miles driven per year equals = ???? 12,000 / 25 = 480 gallons of gas. 480 gallons x .184 = $88.32 tax dollars paid by a Petro driving owners to the feds each year. Diesel is 24.4 cents per gallon. http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/PowerSearch.do?action=noform&year1=2014&year2=2015&vfuel=Diesel&mclass=Pickup+Trucks, Sport+Utility+Vehicles, Vans, Minivans&srchtyp=newDslTrks Based on the gov figures which does not show diesel being that much better than gas. Yes VW TDI Fans I know you love your 50+ MPG auto's, but based on the Gov auto figures your looking at 27 MPG on average. Diesel Owners on the same formula: 12,000 / 27 = 444 gallons of Diesel 444 x .244 = 108.44 tax dollars paid by a Diesel driving owner to the feds each year. So why an equal amount to EV's. Using the Amount paid by Petro above, $88.32 / 12,000 = $.0074 cents per mile. So Road Tax per mile makes the best sense to me. You have your auto checked at the time you renew your license and the miles driven is how much you have to pay the feds for Road tax. My senior parents who barely drive 4000 miles would pay $29.60 a Year to the feds for Road tax. Myself who drives about 15,000 miles would pay $111.00 This would then work out just like a gas tax, states would add on their own miles tax and collect and pay the portion to the feds and keep their own portion. Tax per mile, The best solution for all! -
Not sure what it is about this car but I also get it from the Camero, but Meh! Maybe it is my age and place in my life that these just do not do anything much for me any longer.
