  1. This story is posted by MSN in their auto forum from a U.S. News and World Report story on "Why Are Manual Transmission Disappearing?" Thought it was an interesting piece. I agree with some of what is said but also feel there is a lack of effort on why some might still want a manual or how they can keep the value by being an informed sales person. I will agree that the best anti-theft device is a manual transmission now. Seems the news has more and more stories about the craziness of people breaking in to steal an auto and when it is a manual they end up having to leave. http://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/ownership/why-are-manual-transmissions-disappearing/ar-BBwHYFp?li=BBnb7Kz
  2. Very cool, thanks for the link, looks like they have the same features now as GM. I wonder how hard it would be to get the programming of this motor with more HP and Torque and put it on the same TT V6 in the Explorer? My 1994 GMC Suburban SLE is Monochromatic and I love the black grill with the Ruby Red GMC in the center. I then have Black Chrome rims on her.
  3. I have to say that I love my auto's to be Monochromatic and that I wish GM would stop having to have Chrome on Everything. I would love a new Escalade or Yukon that was all Monochromatic with only the logo in the center of the grill. I personally think this is a nice looking SUV 2017 Ford Explorer Sport. Would have to do after market Rims as I would want them all black, Black Chrome would be a nice accent, but not regular chrome or the existing rims.
  4. Agree, time to enjoy something new and reliable. Always nice to clean house and not deal with old stuff. Wishing you all the best for your new choices of rides. I am very much interested in what those are, can you list them please. I am being serious as I like both but would love to know the differences. Thank you
  5. Time for FCA to clean house, Dump the stupid Fiat and Alfa brand names. Move Fiat into Dodge. Move the Minivan, Chrysler's sole product now into Dodge. Move Alfa sole product into Chrysler and rebuild it as a Luxury line ONLY. FCA becomes 4 product lines Jeep, Dodge, Ram and Chrysler. Spin off the other non-essential products. Totally agree with everyone about performance versions of GM Full Size SUV's.
  6. Jeep Renegade are all over the dealership lots with low miles. Like the fiats buyers seem to not hold onto them. This starts the question of why would you have so many with low miles, low selling prices on used lots. http://www.truedelta.com/Jeep-Renegade/reliability-1289 Data is limited, but this little Jeep is just a rebadged Fiat 500 series. Reviews also tend to have the yellow flag of caution. http://www.truedelta.com/Jeep-Renegade/car-reviews-M203 Many of us here were taken or smitten with this little auto at first. Yet if you have test drove one and sat in one, you start to see many things from fit n finish to the over all tactile feel. This is an auto I could not recommend to family, friends or an acquaintance. Alfa, I go by the sparse few that are here in washington state and the couple that are owned by others in my company that have had the auto in the shop more than at their home. My opinion, Fiat / Alfa is still garbage just like they were back in the 70's when I was around them. Jeep Renegade sadly had to deal with it's origins which are poor to begin with. My personal opinion.
  7. I agree with what you say, but am thinking it might be time to reitre Chrysler with their single minivan. Move it to Dodge and focus on Dodge, Ram Jeep. If you want to keep Chrysler, then time to return to the history of Chrysler as a luxury brand above dodge.
  8. Poor quality statement is in regards to Fiat, Alfa and in the case of Jeep the Renegade which is based on the POS Fiat. Rest of Jeep lineup I am fine with, I do worry about the new compass that is replacing the old compass/patriot. Fiat has failed to build any faith that they can engineer a quality auto.
  9. History and stupid ideas like expanding Jeep dealerships by 400 so they are in miles of each other tends to not lead well with most that can look at poor quality and not see positive things. I am 99.9% of the time a Half full glass guy, but right now FCA is doing nothing to change that they are half empty and getting lower with their decisions.
  10. More of Sergio Stupidity. This will hurt and just proves Sergio is an idiot as he has not learned from the other auto makers that more dealers is not always good. Sergio is only looking at how can we move more metal onto other peoples lots to show we are bigger. not about success of the existing company. I could go down so many ways this is poor business planning and management, but I think most of the intelligent folks here also see this is suicide.
  11. Alfa and Fiat have a track record of building garbage and I see no reason based on the alfa dealership here and the few that have been sold to coworkers that have had the auto in the shop more than in their own garage. At least the old MB platform is very solid, I fear that the history will take the GC to a low that will hurt them not help them. Sergio is considerably cutting corners trying to survive and I doubt they will offer a good unibody system that is better than the MB one. They have much to prove about the alfa stuff.
  12. Gross Who goes around smelling dog feet?
  13. Weird that some do not see the option.
  14. Nope Mr. Ground Hog saw his shadow and predicts 6 more weeks of winter past the end. Bring on the powder and skiing!
  15. G. David Felt - Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.cheersandgears.com Electric G-Class for Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bill Nye the Science guy! This info come via the Green Car Report, seems two things of notice have happened in Hollywood. First, Bill Nye the Science guy who was one of the original lessors of the GM EV-1 from 20 Years ago and has been a strong proponent of everyone going EV is the proud new owner of a 2017 Kinetic Blue Chevrolet Bolt EV. Besides driving an EV-1 and was not happy to have to turn it in and have it crushed, Bill says GM has redeemed themselves with the BOLT. To quote the story, Bill told GCR that the BOLT "is head and shoulders above the rest" and this comes from a guy that has driven the EV-1 for years and then bought the following EV auto's. The Mini E, BMW i3, Ford Focus EV, Volkswagen e-Golf, Nissan Leaf and still currently has his Toyota Prius Hybrid that rarely gets used today. Bill says that in all previous EV's he always worried about getting stuck as his work commute is almost 100 miles which is what prompted him to get the Prius. Now even if he goes to his alternative place which makes the commute 120 miles, he can still get there with no range anxiety. Green Car Report - Bill Nye Our second story come from GCR on what Arnold Schwarzenegger is up to in his native Austria. Kreisel which is a start up company making EV components and EV conversion concepts, worked with Arnold to take a Mercedes-Benz G-Class wagon and yank out the Diesel power train and install an AWD EV powertrain with 482 HP compared to the 245 HP diesel powertrain in the auto. This shaved off 3 full seconds in the 0 to 60 to be just 5.6 seconds. This G-Class has a 190 mile range battery pack and is fully capable of playing in the mud and off road. Cool part is Arnold is all about being kind to the planet and as per the story, he drove a Hydrogen Hummer H2 previously and now will bring home this G-Wagon EV to replace it. Green Car Report Story
  16. But they do, Smartcars or Fortwo as they are now labeled and sit on the same lot right next to your A, B, C, E & S class MB start at $15,000 and go up. Again, do not care about the political side. I am comparing how one business man tends to approach things and my view of you tend to approach defending MB in that same manner. I am pointing to the fact that Chevy and Toyota do not sell a 200,000 plus auto either but the bulk of the product line from 15,000 for a smart car to their 100,000 luxury line does cover the bulk of what people buy and that puts them in the same market segments as the wider price point auto companies.
  17. Was poking around You Tube for various music and came across this guy who does his own acapella songs and I have to say it rocks!
