    The Emissions thing had me wondering what China Standard is and what they plan to do. Just Bing or Google "china auto emission standards" and read the wide variety of stories from around the world covering China's push to EV their auto industry and push MPG even higher. Interesting is the number of stories where Ford and GM are stated as working on Global engines to meet the strict standards. They also talk about a global standard would be best so everyone has the same level playing field to build to. Interesting times we live in.

    Have to say this is the first Porsche that would make me want to consider buying one. I am excited that this will spawn a whole family of products. 2 & 4 door, convertible, etc. Love those Suicide Doors!!! This should be used in the Matrix reboot movies.

    @Cmicasa the Great I agree with you that Cadillac on their current products need 2 door, 4 door sedans, coupes and convertibles. Love that cadillac you posted, such a beauty. Anything below an ATS soon to be CT3 and XT4 I think they can ignore.

    Your just moving the goal post again to try and justify that MB is no different than Chevy, Ford, Toyota or VW. They are no longer a luxury only auto builder. They have expanded their brand to cover everything and eventually that will change their badge image in the public's eye. Cadillac is rebuilding itself as a luxury builder and is looking at select profitable models over being in everything at every level. Two different approaches to market segments.

    CTS is far more exciting than anything Audi, BMW or MB are putting out and much lighter in comparison to the other RWD. Weight based on current 2017 models from their web site, except MB that only showed 2016 model weight TBD for 2017 model. CTS RWD - 3652 Audi A5 Sportback FWD - 3450 BMW 530i RWD - 3746 MB E350 RWD - 3825

    I can see this getting pushed out but many states have adopted CA carb standard and that will continue to force the auto companies to build auto's with better MPG. Trump needs to put his own cash where his idiot mouth is. Talks about American Auto's and yet drives a Rolls. I only own American and I support everywhere I can American business first and then move outside the company for items that are not built here. If you care about making sure your neighbor has a job by buying American made products first, we would be better off. Trump and his SPAWN buy foreign, make the crap they pirate from others in China and try to preach his America Great again. Double Standard Idiot!!! Back up your words with proof and put your cash into manufacturing and business here rather than say one thing and do another.

    And as History has proven as well as many write ups, the Alfa is unreliable and too many people are idiots to learn CUE. I find just as many writeups where people wonder why others say it does not work. So I will damn them till they have some solid history as history is what we have and garbage is what dead Alfa built and died of. Two sides to this coin and you only want to see the it's great best over everyone and yet just as many see problems and like this a production auto that is broken from the get go.

    The Greater Seattle Area has seen the Infinity dealers close by half. We used to have 2 on the eastside, 1 south, 1 north and 2 in Seattle. We now have 1 in Seattle, 1 on the East side and 1 in the north. The south end closed but is a much lower income area. From 6 to 3 and I honestly do not see much business at the lots very little inventory and I do not see them on the street like you do Cadillac, BMW and MB.

    Interesting read, I actually think this will hurt long term PSA more than it will hurt GM. I see this as positive for GM no matter what.

    Jeep & Ram are the only two things I can see VW wanting from FCA.

    Let Lexus continue in their Buick, Lincoln, Acura battle for mid luxury level auto's. Cadillac should stay focused on defining themselves as an upper level Luxury line. No need to go below the ATS / CT3 and XT4.

    Simple, the XTS does not meet the future long term plans of Cadillac and their product line. Many other products can cover the XTS sales plus the CT# product line will take over for this any way. ATS, CTS, XTS are all dead in the near term replaced by the much better planned CT# product line which will have a much more uniform marketing plan.

    Awesome write up, thanks for sharing. Too bad a new car put out for test driving has such a black eye out of the box. BROKEN PANORAMIC SUNROOF. Right there it shows their history of building piss poor auto's and why they will fail. The first cars should be perfect coming back into a market where the majority of people who remember Alfa and have driven them, worked on them, etc. know what garbage they are. Wait and see, but I bet this car is eaten alive by Consumers Reports and everyone else in the auto world that did not take marketing money from Alfa. Hate to say it but I do not expect them to succeed. History is against them. Sergio should have never wasted the Billions taken from the American nameplates. IF he was Smart, he would have reinvested that money in them and made them better rather than trying to bring back a dead name plate.

    If Cadillac was to kill off a big car, I would say the XTS would go as they bring in more CUVs. ATS & CTS will stay and become a CT#, CT6 is here to stay also. You right CAST cost way too much money! Thanks for the laugh as I really needed it this morning for HUMP Day!

    I love the idea and I think Buick needs to embrace the off road wagon concept more than a street only version. Give it a lift, some burly shoulders and allow it to do the awesome job that the Eagle used to do in wagon form.

The Ohio State University took up a big challenge, how to replace a core component in tire manufacturing, Carbon Black! This important component of tire manufacturing was in surplus up till 10 years ago when the Chinese market for auto's took off. A reason tire prices have increased is due to a dwindling supply of carbon black. The Ohio State University took on this challenge to find a replacement that would accomplish 3 things: sustainability, reduced foreign oil and reduction of waste from landfills. Their website states that the food industry uses 100 Billions eggs a year and over 13 million tons of tomatoes. This would give them a new market to sell the waste into rather than a landfill. Tire companies would buy their eggshells and tomato skins from a known source. Quoting the web site: “Fillers generally make rubber stronger, but they also make it less flexible,” Barrera said. “We found that replacing different portions of carbon black with ground eggshells and tomato peels caused synergistic effects—for instance, enabling strong rubber to retain flexibility.” Katrina Cornish (left) and Cindy Barrera (right) examin ground tomato skins and eggshells, as well as samples of rubber.
