  1. G. David Felt - Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.cheersandgears.com Morgan Stanley's Research Group say's Expect 1 Billion EV's on roads by 2050! No matter how one feels about ICE or EV's the market is in flux and the strain is going to be felt by the financially weak auto companies and auto suppliers. Morgan Stanley's Research group predicts that many existing part suppliers could be replaced by new startups. The story on another web site has the following 3 interesting quotes: “We have modelled the global car fleet out to 2050. We see global car sales growing by 50% to over 130 million a year, and expect battery electric vehicles to make up 80% of global sales by 2050. Looking at the global passenger car fleet as a whole, BEVs make up 7% of a growing fleet by 2030 in our base case, rising to 24% by 2040 and 57% by 2050.” “For the OEM business model , BEVs are a game changer. Up to 50% of the value of the car could migrate from mechanical to electrical systems and electronics, and this transfer of power could challenge OEMs’ competitive position, branding and pricing. Our modelling of an illustrative OEM transition from ICE to BEV drivetrain suggests that price and volume pressures could push down ICE profitability sharply from 2021, as new BEV products cannibalise sales and pricing power, with potential for losses from 2028. BEV losses peak in our model in 2023 before production ramps on new model launches. The range of profitability outcomes is wide.” “Margin pressure is likely to be passed down the supply chain. Moreover, OEM suppliers for the powertrain, transmission and fuel systems face loss of content – much of the electrical / electronic systems in an BEV could be supplied by new competitors. On the other hand, technology change and outsourcing are typically opportunities for OEM suppliers.” With the German auto companies spending billions over the next few years on EV auto's, the world is in for a rapid change of transportation. 2. Web site Electrek believes Tesla will make up 50% of the global EV market in 3 years with the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y pickup. https://electrek.co/2017/09/04/tesla-model-3-model-y-global-ev-market-report/#more-50960 Due to the Gigafactory, many are believing that Tesla is going to take a commanding lead in the EV market even as many other established auto companies enter the market with product.
  3. G. David Felt - Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.cheersandgears.com ALCRAFT Motor Company EV Startup ALCRAFT Motor Company made it's debut this week with a AWD Shooting brake performance hatchback. 4. What Idiot Serfio is not saying is no one wants a Crap company that he ran into the ground in trying to bring back Alfa a worthless auto brand in a market of too many name plates and no real value. FCA cannot spin off Alfa / Maserati as they would die quickly without the cash being stolen from the American nameplates.
  5. Yup, There are two fuses on the BOLT EV system identified as Trailer Interface Modules. There are 3rd party class 1 hitches and yes this is the same hitch used for Bike racks, Ski/Snowboard racks, etc. Currently Curt Manufacturing and Draw-tite are builders of these class 1 trailer hitches with a 1000lb load capacity.
  6. It actually can tow a class 1 trailer.
  7. Bolt in the mall shopping lot, first I have seen with a trailer hitch. EV Towing Power!
  8. So maybe it would help if you actually checked the Buick China web site and converted the Yuan into US dollars so you have actual pricing. http://www.buick.com.cn/ Most expensive model is the CUV Kore, US Enclave at 509,000 Yuan, starting price US which equals as of Fridays close $77,561.90. or fully loaded flag ship of 649,000 Yuan / US $98,895.24 Cheapest model is the Hideo Sedan at 109,000 Yuan, starting price US $16,609.52. Surprising is that according to business news executives love a luxury Minivan. Buick has the best selling one in China, GL8 ES Business Luxury Minivan starting at 289,900 or $44,175.24 Cadillac pricing is above this, so not necessarily cheap or low end. MB covers with their product line cheap ass Model 1 at the same price up to the S Class at double the Kore pricing. So how is Buick and Cadillac not being competitive with everyone especially on pricing?
  9. @smk4565 Thanks for posting the numbers. Interesting so the Cheap CUV GLA is up but everything else is down. Total SUV/CUV for the month is 13,254, respectable number sold. Good chance if Cadillac had an XT3 and XT7 they would be equal too or beating MB in SUV/CUV sales. @balthazar Yup, totally missed the X1 in the Passenger cars group of sales for 2002 sold. MB = 13,254 for 5 models BMW = 8,847 for 5 models Cadillac = 10,230 for 3 models All respectable sales of SUV/CUV's Have to say it is an interesting observation.
  10. Nice gain by Volvo. CUV's are taking off, the new V90 versions seem to be doing very well as well as the rest.
  11. Interesting, wish I had a full chart showing all their sales by each model but I find this interesting MB for GLC & GLE sold 8,248 units BMW for the X series sold 6,845 across 4 models. Cadillac with 1 CUV sold 7,236 or if we add in the Escalade versions sold 10,230 units for 3 SUV/CUV Models. Bill any way you can post the sales numbers for the rest of their SUV/CUV full lineup? Interesting that a luxury brand with a single CUV is outselling one with 4 versions and nipping at another with 2 models.
  12. What is going on with the Korean's? These numbers are ugly and such a huge drop. Wonder if this is because there are so many other options for quality SUV/CUV's out there. Be interesting to see if people flood back to Hyundai as gas prices spike because of Harvey? Bad Havery
  13. I am excited for their i-Pace EV CUV as I think that will jump their sales again.
  14. Doing good, Interesting the large drop in SUV/CUV sales here.
  15. Clearly BMW is not what it once was, their sales across the board are UGLY!
  16. Traditional expectation of cars sales drop, CUV sales rise. But interesting that the number of posted sales are showing a clear slowing of auto sales over all.
  17. Interesting to see that the Impreza and Crosstrek are their big sellars. Confirms the move to CUV type auto's.
  18. August is the month that Chevrolet opened the BOLT to everyone in every state, so half the US states could finally receive BOLT's in the month of August. From July to August, the sales went from 1971 for July to 2107 for August. 136 sales increase from July and a total jump from 9563 to 11,670 YTD. This is doing better than many German Luxury auto's. I am hopeful we see a bigger jump in September as all states and dealerships should have BOLTs on their lots.
  19. Cars are being murdered and cuv's are doing decent. Surprised Mazda is doing this well.
  20. One ugly sales report with very few bright spots.
  21. To be expected numbers considering they are cutting way back on fleet sales.
  22. Savana and Caprice sales exploded Nice what GM is doing for the relief effort in Texas. Course the State says Don't Mess with Texas, so why is everyone helping them?
  23. WOW, Nissan is down but still respectable sales numbers.
  24. Some are very surprising especially Jeep Down and GMC up. WOW Really appreciate all the work that goes into reporting this by Bill and the companies. One interesting observation is that some companies seem to be resorting to just giving overall sales numbers, % up or down and highlighting just a few models. This makes me wonder about the confidence in that automakers product line when they stop reporting individual numbers and generalize their overall sales. Wish Tesla would get onboard with better sales details and certain German brands that have gone generic would pick up the ball and report everything.
