  1. Remember my friend, we are all crazy in one way or another. Just depends on what degree of craziness we are! So says the wife and every other person I have met that works in the crazy world field of study.

Yesterday April 13th 2017, Lucid sent out an email about how their near production test car hit a top speed of 217 mph at the Ohio's Transportation Center banked oval test track. Many of us that follow the industry know that Tesla limits their auto's to 155 mph. Lucid is on record that they intend to meet the needs of the high-speed cruising market of Europe and Middle east. Simulations can only go so far on a computer and then you have to put rubber to the road. This allows the engineers to monitor and tweak everything from the power train, suspension, body fluidity and so much more. This will allow them to review the data, make adjustments and come back later to push the limit even higher. We know that Lucid is planning on a $60,000 dollar 400hp, 240 mile range RWD EV with the top model being a six figure AWD 1,000 HP and 400 miles of range on a super dense battery pack. This begs the Question, other than the few places you can push this kind of Speed, Does it matter any more if an auto can go over 100 plus mph? This question comes from seeing so many auto's that are now breaking that 6 second 0-60 speed showing they have the torque and hp to maintain the speed needed for daily driving. Lucid News

David Felt - Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.cheersandgears.com Jeep Easter Edition Moab Utah The 51st Easter Jeep Safari in Moab Utah is taking place this week and Jeep has a slew of working concepts that will be on the trail all week long for people to drool over according to the story at USA Today! To quote the story: "Go fast and look good ... and if you're not smiling, get out," said Mark Allen, head of Jeep design, as walked around the hot rod Jeep Quicksand, which was "built for sand dunes." The roar from the Quicksand's Mopar 392 Crate Hemi engine with eight-stack injection drew smiles and stares. But one of the cooler features on the Quicksand was ornamental — a clear acrylic gear shifter knob with a Jeep Matchbox suspended inside. The other Jeeps were decked out, too. Love their Cocktail which was built based on 3 different generations of the wrangler. Luminator, which pretty much will light up the night for night wheeling. New Jeep Safari Concept Jeep Switchback Jeep Trailpass Concept Loving the Jeep Quicksand Concept with that 392 Hemi and optimized for dune jumping. Loving the V8 Power!!! More pictures and info in the story on the other auto's which has a total of 7 concepts to gauge Jeep Enthusiasts feedback.
  4. So you're saying they will be Hybrids then based on what I am reading. That makes sense, but then we have seen plenty of 12v Hybrids that are over 50 mpg.
  5. Yea Sergio would consider that a success just like his 56 Alfa's in 2016 that he wasted billions on are considered a success.
  6. Very informative, nice write up. I myself could drive it as a commuter car but would not really be happy. Interior is way to sparse for me, just blah bland. Plus being a car, you sit so freaking low. With that said I am sure many will love the car. I honestly could see this lifted about 10 inches, some butch wheel covers and bigger tires and a more powerful engine and you have a nice small CUV off road.
  7. I understand, having a wife who is a professional psychologist, I have learned to leave calling a person mental to the pro's.
  8. Leave mental to the professionals. Let's just agree that he left civil / Professional debate and discussion moved into an area that should not be done.
  9. I agree with you on the lite colors and how dirty the interior will look like in 5 years considering that most people are slobs in their auto. I do wonder how comfortable those seats are. My 2006 Escalade Seats are still looking like new and firm but comfy for long road trips. 2017 Nav 2006 Escalade ESV Platinum I have to disagree with you on the Aluminum. This auto was heavy and they only dropped 200lbs with all the Aluminum work they supposedly did to the F150. 2017 Navigator Curb Weight of 6297 lbs. Makes 2018 Navigator 6097 lbs. Over 500 lbs heavier than the Escalade. https://www.edmunds.com/lincoln/navigator/2017/suv/#edm-entry-build Escalade 5521 lbs curb weight. https://www.vehiclehistory.com/vehicle-curb-weight-specifications/cadillac/escalade/2017 https://www.edmunds.com/cadillac/escalade/2017/#edm-entry-build http://www.cadillac.com/crossovers-suvs/escalade-suv/standard-optional-equipment.html?ppc=MICROSOFT_700000001296812_71700000019876877_58700002108534486_p17376421571&gclid=CPjI8aGRpNMCFUHt6QodEoYFaQ Navigator is a pig.
  10. I really have to question the sound decision on this. They might as well just keep improving their ICE line as is and build their EV line on a far superior electrical system. Having slept on this, from an engineering standpoint I get it that they would have a single electrical harness for the auto. Yet this also means they are going to spend a fortune on R&D to do this, they will also now have issues with mechanics who mix up the existing 12v line with their newer 48v line and I can see all kinds of mistakes being made by the mechanics.
  11. Both have thin seat design, I wish they had a bit more comfort padding like my 2006 Platinum ESV. Otherwise everything on the 4th Generation is perfect.
  12. So you are saying MB is going to move all ICE to 48 volt systems too?
  13. JD Powers Listing interesting comparison of 2017 to 2016 list. 2017 2016 Top three models per segment (in order of fewest issues) Small car Chevrolet Sonic Nissan Versa Compact car Toyota Prius Buick Verano (tie) Honda Civic (tie) Compact Premium Car Lexus ES Mercedes-Benz C-Class Acura ILX Midsize Car Toyota Camry Chevrolet Malibu Hyundai Sonata Midsize Sporty Car Chevrolet Camaro Ford Mustang Midsize Premium Car Lexus GS Mercedes-Benz E-Class Audi A7 Large Car Toyota Avalon Buick LaCrosse Kia Cadenza Small SUV Volkswagen Tiguan Buick Encore Hyundai Tucson Compact MPV Toyuta Prius V Kia Soul Compact SUV Toyota FJ Cruiser Chevrolet Equinox GMC Terrain Compact Premium SUV Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class Acura RDX Volvo XC60 Midsize Pickup Honda Ridgeline Nissan Frontier Midsize SUV Toyota Venza Ford Edge (tie) Honda Pilot (tie) Midsize Premium SUV Lexus RX Lexus GX Porsche Cayenne Minivan Toyota Sienna Chrysler Town & Country Dodge Grand Caravan Large SUV Chevrolet Tahoe GMC Yukon Large Light Duty Pickup Ford F-150 Toyota Tundra Chevrolet Silverado (tie) Ram 1500 (tie) Large Heavy Duty Pickup Chevrolet Silverado HD GMC Sierra HD Ford Super Duty
  14. Honestly, I see little reason to put limited R&D funds into a full size luxury sedan. The future of EV is going to make people want roomy CUV/SUV like auto's. I personally would continue to tweak the model with new interiors, exteriors and special limited edition packages to keep it going and unique and focus on the other bigger and much more profitable segments.
  15. Creepy to just think how much bacteria and other bugs / crap is in the auto.
  16. You could kill Fiat and all the Euro garbage and kill Chrysler. Some will say no, but kill durango and Journey and focus Dodge in the same building as Jeep and Ram. SUV, Car and Truck in a single DJR Dealership. Clean up and kill off. Honestly no need for Chrysler anymore. Agree with moving the mini van to Dodge. FCA has starved the various brands to a point where it is time to consolidate and clean house. The wasted billions stolen from American name plates to bring back Alfa is a joke and shows how bad Sergio is as a CEO.
  17. Meh, Forgettable is what this looks like. I agree that those looking for a deal will end up buying this auto.
  18. I understand that, I am overly OCD about cleaning my auto's so my dash never has anything on it and I keep it dusted and clean.
  19. I am surprised that with all the work Ford has done on their auto's, especially the truck line with Aluminum that 200lbs is all they could pull out of the old Navigator as they built the new one. Weird
  20. Nice for a volvo. Should serve them well. A bit to conservative in style for my tastes.
  21. Couple of coworkers who put stuff on their dash all the time broke theirs grabbing for their stuff. Seems to be much easier than I would have thought too. Escalade
  22. I am wondering just how much room is inside as the picture Drew took of the front from the mid row seats makes the leg room look tight. Still do not like the floating nav screen.
  23. WOW, that looks allot tighter than I was expecting. For a big guy, that does not look like much room and it looks tighter than the Escalade.
  24. With Tesla's system being an 84V to 265V system depending on the charger used to recharge the auto. One has to wonder why only 48 volt system for MB especially when Porsche is going with an 800V system in the Mission E?
