  1. Exxon Mobil, BP, Royal Dutch, Shell have all invested in Charging companies that make the equipment. On top of this, All have announced they are starting to install fast chargers at gas stations. Shell is farther along than most but here is their fast charger station. As I have said over and over, the West coast if much farther along than the rest of North America, yet just like the early 1900's where cars were being sold before gas stations were everywhere and before big profits could be made, Companies have to start somewhere.

  4. Green Auto Sales Up Gotta love it when you can find stories of research that shows the growth of the GREEN AUTO movement. Autoblog just posted their review of the September numbers and I just love this section from the story: "GM once again was buoyed by demand for the Chevrolet Bolt EV, which resulted in 2,632 units sold. That more than offset the 28 percent decline in Chevy Volt extended-range plug-in sales. Overall, GM green-car sales jumped 56 percent from a year earlier." So the highlight numbers are as follows: Hybrids / Plug-ins up 8% from a year earlier at 44,000 units. Plug-in sales were robust advancing 18% from a year ago at 14,500 units. Ford saw a 24% increase in Green Auto Sales over last year. Honda saw a 89% increase in Green Auto Sales over last year. BMW saw a 3% increase in i auto sales Toyota saw a 3% decline Nissan saw a 20% decline as people held off for Leaf 2.0 First 9 months of 2017 saw 354,000 units sold or 8.6% increase in sales over last year. 122,000 units or 31% of that was Plug-ins.

  6. Agree with @ccap41 that while I over all like the new Terrain, the headlights are off putting. I just do not dig the lower line of the headlight assembly system.
  7. I certainly hope so as in-wheel hub motors with torque vectoring would make a bad ass awd EV. I can totally see this for an Escalade.
  8. Latest AAA Report out on the auto's that are the most distracting and by no surprise it is auto's that have touch screen everything. The study goes on to say that a major reason for fatal crashes increasing is distracted driving. I find the best model year of a said auto is the last year the auto is to be built as the OEM seems to go all out on building everything into the auto and giving it a golden celebration as it sales off into the sunset. Then you seem to have a very reliable solid auto with a bunch of great stuff at a decent price.
  10. You just mentioned 3 compliance auto's that are only sold in select states and not available nation wide. On top of that the 500e was killed off. So the argument is not silly it is valid that Drew posted. There is little choice at this time other than Leaf or Bolt.
  11. OK, rereading this release I realize this is NOT a VOLT like powertrain, which is pure electric with a 4 banger generator. This is a true Hybrid that is ICE powertrain with Electric assist. In lower speeds you can use pure electric only. This is a stepping stone to a pure Plugin Hybrid that only uses a small ICE engine as a generator or pure EV's. My gut tells me some will buy these and be happy but most will wait for a pure EV. So this system is like GM's first attempt at a Hybrid that we had in the Tahoe, Yukon and Escalade as well as the Pickup truck.

  14. I like this, they did a Volt Powertrain to an SUV. About time, GM are you listening, this is what you need to do to your product lines stat!

Had to reread the press release and realized that GM is going to invest in the charging network it sounds like here in the US after stating they would be helping with investing in the XFC system in Europe. Fletcher said GM is planning to introduce the new vehicles in key, emerging segments. She also added that GM will help with "accelerating" the deployment of rapid-charging stations for its customers. There are currently more than 1,100 available publicly to GM customers in the United States. She declined to provide further details, citing more details "to come soon." So I take this as a positive sign that GM will help with the build out of the charging network and I hope in the details to come that it is all based on XFC systems. XFC = Xtreme Fast Charging has two levels, first one is a 350 Volt system. Second level is the one Porsche is pushing the 800 Volt system. Both can charge on par with gas dispensing.
  16. And that is fine, having two distinct different levels of the Avalanche works. One in Chevy and one in Cadillac. We just do not want what started this in 1999 with the GMC denali Yukon and then a rebadge Escalade. They truly need to be distinct and different.
  17. I see the point you are wanting to make but have to disagree that the EXT diluted Cadillac. I agree that the HD line of luxury in Cadillac is not needed, but a Half Ton luxury like the EXT is fine. I like the CT6 but will never buy it as it is not roomy enough for me and I do not like being on the floor when driving. For me Luxury SUV and Pickups from Cadillac in the manner of the EXT is what I want and believe can help Cadillac. Want Luxury HD, I will happily point you to GMC.
  18. Yes, I was planning to get the Bolt for the wife, but the dash white v killed it for her. As a visual person she could not see herself driving the auto daily with such an ugly dash. If it was a solid black dash, she would have given her blessing and boom, been in a bolt.
  19. Way too funny seeing them try to hid this as an ICE auto. Clearly EV Mules. I wonder if they will still end up doing the suicide doors or not. I hope so as I would like it to stand apart from Tesla and the rest. These were the most interesting photo's of all they posted online.

Not picking a side on anything other than saying I would not say that luxury trucks are stupid, there are clearly many people that would like the luxury side of an Auto in a Pickup truck with the flexible use of the truck. I for one will never be comfortable in a car, as such, I only drive full size SUV's and had planes to buy a fully loaded Cadillac EXT pickup till GM stupidly killed it. I think Cadillac should have a Luxury pickup, no reason to not have all the features found in a CT6 in a full size SUV and in a full Size Pickup. We all have our differences of what we want to drive and yet many still want the luxury.
  22. Like the Horse n Buggy change over to auto's in the early 1900's which for most of america took 25 to 50 years to achieve. I expect a more likely 15 to 25 year change over from ICE to EV especially once XFC chargers are everywhere at the Charging Stations of America.
  23. Yes, I watched it and no there is nothing wrong with checking out where you are going first and deciding if you want to go there or not. I am more bold in that I have taken my Escalade in places many would not, but I also do take the time to look at the approach or departure angles to keep from damaging my rides. Yes the G-Wagon has lockers, but does that keep people form taking what they do have off road? No and that is the point of our discussion, just cause I do not have lockers does not mean I cannot go places and use my head to figure out a way to get there and back. Some people truly do not know how to drive or are willing to attempt something. I am not one of those and while I do not record my off road adventures, many seem to think that no one takes an Escalade off road. These videos just show that they do no matter the competition. Luxury off road does happen.
  24. No matter what fans of either SUV will like what they have and enjoy using them. Everywhere I have gone in my Escalade I have gotten there and back including to Hearts pass a solid 4x4 trail in Washington State that takes you from ocean level to 7500 feet of switch back trails that have dug outs for allowing autos to pass each other and some steep approach and departure angles. Yes G-Wagon has more approach and departure angles and I could do that in an Escalade if I raised it up to the same level the G-Wagon is sitting at. Yet the core market is for luxury ride. Just cause the focus on what they sell does not mean it does not get used off road. Same with the G-Wagon, both mostly sold to people wanting a label or look and rarely used off road.
