  1. Over all I really like what I see and HOpe VW keeps true to this concept as it would sell and sell well I suspect. Sadly VW has a bad habit of producing awesome concepts and then going ultra conservative to the point of falling asleep and not delivering what people got excited about. Wait and See,
  2. I am thinking people will see reduced rebates towards the end of this year. If Tesla Delivers on how many model 3 they build, it will hit based on S & X sales staying the same late Nov or early Dec and that will reduce down how much people will get to write off.
  3. Talk about an interesting comparison. Leaf 2.0 is far better looking than Leaf 1.0 but I still like the Bolt look far better.
  4. My friend check out this story on a review between the BOLT and the GTI. Crazy crosshop but so real and the BOLT does well against the GTI. https://electrek.co/2017/09/05/chevy-bolt-ev-autocross-event/ Video of the autocross in the BOLT.
  5. 2013 to Today, Engines under 3 Liters and Turbocharged have gone backwards on MPG and Emissions in Real World Driving Technology today is proving to be more effective in controlled testing than in real world driving. A U.K. based company that does emission testing has been in the US running a long term testing of over 500 auto's testing real world versus testing for MPG, greenhouse gas creation and overall improvements and the end result is that with all the new technologies from Turbocharging, start-stop, lightweight materials and eco-drive settings that the top 4 things have shown up to Quote the story: Vehicles with engines smaller than 2 liters have essentially posted no change in fuel economy. Meanwhile, the fuel economy of engines between 2 and 3 liters, the most common, dropped by 8 percent, and fuel economy rose by 8 percent in engines of 3 liters or larger. The drop in economy for the most common engine class is problematic for overall CO² emissions in an era of cheap gasoline, when Americans are commuting longer distances but small-car sales are lagging. While the EPA's five-cycle test procedure tracks pretty closely with EA's real-world tests, automakers may be relying too heavily on "off cycle" credits given by the EPA for technologies like engine stop-start systems and "eco" driving modes that cut fuel consumption. Those systems aren't accounted for in the driving tests. That said, it's only logical that a car sitting at idle gets zero miles per gallon, while one that's turned off by a stop-start system is by definition economical. Turbocharged engines show large gaps between lab and real-world use, delivering big fuel savings when under low stress but becoming far less efficient once the turbos are engaged. In other words, these systems are driven with a light during testing, but real-world drivers engage the turbocharger far more often. Regular hybrids, which have gotten lost in the hype over plug-in hybrids and pure EVs, are among the best technologies in delivering fuel economy and cutting greenhouse gases. What I found interesting is a very true point stated at the end, how economically we drive is negated as the technology cannot make up for a lead foot. So having a NON Turbo V6 or V8 is better than a smaller Turbo engine it would seem! autoblog story
  6. Let's add in their auto's destroyed by Irma and Jose. Should help to update the average age of Auto's in the US.
  7. Expect us all who are in our 40's to 50's and younger to see a major change in the auto industry in our lifetime. Course to quote the ZEV mandate which is helping to push forward the EV tech: It’s a direct result of the country’s ZEV mandate, which requires automakers to have zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) represent 8% of new car sales as soon as 2018 and quickly ramp up to 12% by 2020.
  8. BOLT and VOLT power trains in both cars and CUV's just makes sense and I do agree, after Gen 2 Volt came out, they should have then also introduced the powertrain in the Trax. Based on China, France and UK news, I say we are going to see this happen in our lifetime.
  9. One Item I forgot to mention and maybe this is where @balthazar is thinking is the california rebate too. Fed is $7,500 rebate on taxes. California is $2,500 cash for purchase of a BOLT. Full list of all auto's and Bikes that qualify for cash rebates. https://cleanvehiclerebate.org/eng/eligible-vehicles This would tend to make the Bolt a $20,000 auto then or if a Premier edition about $30,000.
  10. Agreed, Hope they put the BOLT powertrain into the Cruze and with a bigger battery into a mid size auto as well.
  11. ON TOPIC: My hope this season is we see at least 2-3 VOLT Powertrain auto's in CUV form. I also am hoping we see the BOLT Powertrain used in a few auto's as well. All told, I would love to see 6 to 7 Hybrid / EV's shown at the auto show circuit this year.
  12. Seems True Car has the average price between 33K and 35K, but you can clearly find new car dealerships in california that have them thousands less. I have found some with the base bolt 2-3 thousand off the MSRP. Yet that still leaves this auto around 23K with the tax break. Lots of options though.
  13. So ON TOPIC, with China having now posted the Death date of ICE auto's for China, 2030 if you did not read my posting: When do you think we will see a more detailed road map from GM in regards to EV / Hybrid's on every product line for the Global Market especially China? I am hoping to see some awesome EV / Hybrid concepts this autoshow year. Hoping that the LA auto show we will see some cool new concepts. Love the listing of 2017-2018 auto shows: https://www.edmunds.com/auto-shows/calendar.html
  14. To be expected since China just announced the death date of ICE auto's. I expect far more plans to be revealed this year at the auto shows in regards to EV's / Hybrids as auto companies move forward in dealing with the change on ICE auto's and climate change.
  15. Love Tequila, many do not realize that quality Tequila is usually 100% Agave and aged. Becomes a sipping drink that allows one to enjoy the hints of nut, vanilla, earth tones, etc. Becomes much like a fine cognac or brandy. The group I used to be in when I worked at Microsoft was a big Tequila group. Picked up my habit there, enjoy tasting the following two as they are awesome: Don Julio 1942 Milagro Select Barrel Reserve Silver One that is very good but also can hit ya hard is the 110 proof Kah. This is a Day of the Dead Tequila. Awesome for making your mixed Tequila drinks. Now my favorite to drink is what got me hooked in 1993, Porfidio Silver 100% Blue Agave. This is one of the most flavorable and smooth Tequila's I have ever drank and I love that every year they produce a unique bottle for their tequila. Check out this web site as it covers their history. http://www.tequila.net/tequila-news/latest/the-history-of-porfidio-tequila.html Sadly Mexico seems to have issue with their tequila and the company has moved to Hong Kong and I do not find their product around here in Seattle. No matter what the Mexicans say, it was a very smooth and enjoyable product.
  16. G. David Felt - Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.cheersandgears.com China sets 2030 as the end of ICE Auto's Country Wide China has chosen to lead the world rather than follow the first industrial revolution by not only holding themselves accountable to the Paris Accord on Climate Change, but to ban all sales of ICE Auto's starting in 2030. This mean that 2029 will be the last year one can buy a petrol powered auto in China. Now this covers a wide range as China says this will be applied to cars, trucks, SUV's, CUV's, Motorcycles, Mopeds, transport trucks, buses, etc. This has geopolitical and business economic muscle written all over it and as such will see over the next 12 years a big change happen at companies. This also speaks big of China and their massive mineral deposit control they have on items such as Lithium, cobalt, etc. Honda has announced this weekend that the market for their newest EV will be China first before the US or any place else. This new EV auto will go on sale some time in 2018. Many other auto companies have paired up with Chinese auto companies to build and supply the local market with EV's. VW is now going to roll out their first mass produced EV in China first followed by Europe and the US then onto the rest of the world as regional support grows. Paris and the UK have stated 2040 as the start of banning ICE auto's from sale which China is doing 10 years sooner. It would appear that as has been stated before, not if but when it happens, it will be a monumental shift in the market. Auto replacing the Horse was no different in being a huge change for humans. Supporting Percentage of EV sales Norway already has a 29% share of electric cars sales; Netherlands - 6.4%; Sweden - 3.4%; China, France, UK - 1.5% (each); U.S. - 1.4%. 17. Based on SMK comments, I just did a search for a 70's era s-class convertible and this 1970 came up as a close match to the eldorado convertible above.
  18. Disagree, I would take the Eldorado over the Benze. This MB is not better for the time than the Cadillac.
  19. Yea, this was posted here earlier this year too I believe and agree, he is a Dick just to get attention. An Idiot of modern times that should not be doing reviews since he clearly does not get auto's of that time.
  20. WOW, I love it! Sorry Bill, but I actually love this! About time BMW built a vary awesome full size SUV. Yes the grill is a bit polarizing, but the greenhouse of the SUV, the interior and for the most part the exterior is awesome. I have to question the need of a Turbo engine unless this SUV does not use electric motors as I see no sense in a turbo gas generator. If I am missing something here please point it out but normal ICE generator would do fine. I like this and it is way better than anything MB is building right now in the SUV market.
  21. Thank you, yea have not been impressed with anything Lexus, but the ES. Friend of the wife has one and he wishes he did not. He thought he was getting a luxury car and instead got a badge job. Agree that you can have them even in GM, but GM has truly worked hard to make them different. Lexus and Toyota not so much.
  22. OUCH OUCH OUCH, This just proves EVERYTHING I have seen and heard from coworkers and friends who have left MB. They have clearly duplicated Pre-Bankruptcy Cadillac to the Tee! WOW, What an Ending, Want a superior car, buy a BMW, Lexus or better yet Mazda. Don't Buy a CLA! Would love to hear his take on Cadillac. Good or bad, it would be entertaining.
