  1. In watching the record set above for standing mile, clearly he is driving a manual EV, but I think the records will go beyond that with an automatic as the computer can shift faster than a human can. In regards to slowing down, it is more a matter of keeping the electric motor in it's maximum torque and HP range which I have read and see examples about that does help I believe the EV auto from a supercar standpoint. I think for a commuter car, no transmission is just fine as they run the instant torque to get going and maintain the speed for what is done around town.
  2. Just watched the Genovation GXE Corvette hit a world record 190.48 standing mile speed with a top speed of 209 MPH for an EV Corvette. Amazing part is you can choose yours with an 8 speed paddle shifter or 7 speed manual trans.
  3. I agree with Drew @bobo you really need to stick around and add 2-wheel news to our alternative forum. This local Seattle company has exploded with sales of EV Bikes. https://www.electricbikeseattle.com/ Some pretty cool tech.
  4. Awesome @bobo, Hope to see you post more about EV's and your Two Wheel fascination.
  5. Happy New Year to Blu, Olds, Drew, Balth, etc. Happy New Year to you all, Make 2018 an awesome year!
  6. Here is our New Years Day Soup, gonna enjoy it all day long along with our Korean Side Dishes. Dill Pickles, White Radish with spices, Jalapeno Cucumber and Danmuji (Korean Yellow Pickled Radish) Gives a crunch factor to the soup.
  7. Fake News Just like so many east coast things lately!
  8. Even the older Cayennes have very low miles, so if you want a Porsche, then why not go 6 to 10 years old to get the price down since I have found plenty in the $30 K range with only 25 to 45 thousand miles on them. Plenty of Diesel and Turbo models in the 2011 / 2012 that are around 40K miles for around 35-40K. Not bad price. Auto Trader shows plenty of Jeep GC that are in high 20 to low 30 thousand miles with V8 summit, SRT, etc. versions all 2013 to 2015 in the 40-45K range. Go a couple years older and you get the 2010-2012 and your in the 30K range with 40 to 55 thousand miles. Some pretty loaded and nice GC for prices that average 10-15 thousand less than a MB with less features.
  9. Saw a Titan Diesel today on the Highway, wife and I both agreed that is one butt ugly truck. New Ford drove by right with it and looked way better.
  10. Got it, I can understand that, found a really good detailed explanation of the two types of suspension that they use on these so their basic steel spring and the airbag suspension. http://blog.autospeed.com/2008/11/04/air-or-steel-springs-the-porsche-cayenne/ Lucky you can find plenty on Autotrader and they do seem to hold their value better than MB or just about anyone else. Here is what their own website had to say about their air suspension:
  11. I thought the Cayenne had that airmatic type or Hydromatic like my escalade for raising and lower it for clearance but also comfort in regards to driving dynamic. Gonna have to make a stop out at their web site as I thought they had that type of tech.
  12. According to JD Powers, Seems they are rated the same! So this comes down to cost and repair cost which MB is notoriously higher on as everyone knows.
  13. I thought you were all the rage now on going back to a truck ZR2 Duramax Diesel or was it a ford?
  14. Stick and CVT just does not sound or make sense to me when I envision it in my mind.
  15. I would agree with everything you say, but the stick will not happen. Stick is dead and not worth the R&D cost to build for new future auto's. Plus less efficient in many ways which you know that. I agree, sticks can be much more fun than an auto, but the days of stick are over.
  16. Cost, Cost of repairs, Cost of Maintenance, Cost of owning an MB Black Hole that just sucks money as they suck worse in reliability in real world than even on the ratings Charts. GC are really bulletproof and cheap to repair when they do need it in comparison to the MB.
  17. Due to a busy New Years Eve and New Years Day, I spent my last day of 2017 up on the slope at Stevens Pass skiing. We have had a week of powder dumping and as such 3-5 feet of powder was all over. Legs are worn out and I am tired but feel great. People Arriving, 8am and getting ready for the lifts to open at 9am. In line at Hogs and looking up the mountain at all the fresh powder For a snowy day, had a rare break over Double Black Diamond, the really high run in the middle of the picture. In Line at Kehrs Chair to ride up there to pound the powder. Heading to the back side of what is called MIlls valley for more powder pounding. Hidden Gem, many people ignore this run called International, single black diamond run but talk about awesome powder. Happy blurry me, heading down the mountain after a long day of awesome Powder Pounding fun.
  18. What are your New Year's Eve and New Year's Day Traditions? Since I am starting this off, I will tell you what Mine are, been the same for the last 26 years of Marriage. I am married to a Korean and they have very specific things that are done. We start off with a Korean Pot sticker making party in the first week of Dec. Make hundreds, people who help get some to take home, most are kept for use in what is called Korean New Year's Day Soup. We then start on the 26th and make a ton of homemade Beef broth with flank steak in it that is then shredded. We also make a wide variety of Korean side dishes from scratch. This takes multiple days as to why we start early. Then on New Year's eve, we clean the house, Korean custom, always start the new year off with a very clean house. New Years day, Koreans go and visit each other, friends and family stop by all day to visit, wish each other a happy new year and to have a bowl of New Year Soup. What is in the soup? Beef broth, rice cakes, potstickers, shredded beef, green onion, optional egg and optional seaweed. So What is your traditions?
  19. Also big maintenance cost differences between them.
  20. Always go for a new Apple Play / Android Auto Head unit and still get the car you really like.
