  1. BP Buys Chargemaster to Electrify BP UK Stations According to this Reuters story, British Petroleum (BP) has agreed to buy Chargemaster for $170 million US dollars. This will give BP the leading position in the UK for established EV auto charge points around the country and allow them access to Chargemasters Ultra-Fast Chargers which they will spend $500 million over the next year on installing at their BP stations around the country. BP in competition with Royal Dutch Shell, VW and Daimler who are all investing in their own charging systems or teaming up with other station companies to install ultra-fast chargers wants to lead the nation in the growth market as consumers shift away from polluting fossil fuels to EV auto's. BP like their rivals wants to clearly carve out this position as petrol is forecast to peak as early as next decade as nations move to leave the fossil fuels behind. BP forecasts the EV auto's to soar to 300 million by 2040 from the 1 million in 2016. Having a series of stations where people can stop and get at least 100 miles of charge in less than 10 minutes across our 1,200 petrol stations in Britain is what will happen over the next 12 months. While most will charge at home, BP believes that the stations will play a important role as only the stations will have the Ultra-Fast chargers that can cover from 150 kW to 800 kW charging for road trips. BP will be rebranding Chargemaster to BP Chargemaster this year as they operate the existing 6,500 EV charge points in Britain and the over 50,000 units across Europe. BP now has the largest charging network of any petrol company in the world. Once Britain stations are installed over the next 12 months, BP will then focus on doing the same across China before turning to the US market in 2020. In January, BP invested $5 million in FreeWire Technology which manufactures mobile EV rapid charging systems. In February, BP connected with Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi to develop new battery tech for the next generation of auto's.
  2. Guess I never got that Memo as I do not see that for BMW and MB with the number of them I see on the side of the roads needing help or on tow beds. Maybe it is my area where both brands to sell in large quantity to mostly asian badge snobs and as such you see them on the roads allot and broken down allot.
  3. Based on reading here and at Motor1, https://www.motor1.com/news/250475/2019-dodge-charger-updated-trims/ It is the same motor with a detuned ECU, this would tell me that I could take the Challenger ECU code and update the Charger. Then you have the same HP / ft-lbs.
  4. I would totally disagree with that. I grew up in a mixed household of auto's as every maker has their day of building a superior auto. The badge means nothing compared to the quality, comfort and what you like. In that regards, I have had asian brands and all the American brands and do not buy based on badge. You have two types of buyers, badge snobs and those that are buying based on what they like, works for them, etc. That has clearly been shown here.
  5. Seems they did get more Muscle, The Demon Engine is now standard in the Hellcat. https://www.motor1.com/news/250478/2019-dodge-challenger-srt-hellcat-redeye/ Very cool all the stuff that is added according to the story above.
  6. I knew he was a Closet Case of EV Love! ? I do not even exist on the Chart! Based on that I am roughly 80lbs overweight if I take their average per inch and run it out to 6'6" http://www.thedrive.com/news/21797/driver-going-120-mph-in-construction-zone-asks-officer-for-warning This cracks me up and the moron asks for a warning.
  7. I really like the look of this Charger. SWEET!
  8. I believe Mercedes-benz will have to react to the XT4 once they start losing sales of the GLA / GLC to Cadillac.
  9. This makes sense to simplify the product line and standardize the style look on the new design language. I have to say they are still giving allot of value for the money.
  10. So far I have to say I like this look the best of all the Genesis auto's so far. Decent exterior look and interior. Nice job Genesis @William Maley The openings on the lower front end are they just open to the underside or do they actually direct air to cool the brakes?
  11. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/harley-davidson-to-close-us-factory-as-sales-slide-2018-01-30 Yup not a pretty read but clearly you can tell they are cleaning up and simplifying operations here in the US and expanding overseas to support a more global diverse manufacturing system to offset the whole tradeware / Tariffs BS. Totally Makes SMART BUSINESS SENSE! Harley needs to get the EV Bike "Live Wire" up for sale if they want to get younger new riders. Heck this old rider would buy a Live Wire bike, the only thing Harley would have that interests me. The rest of the product line is just old garbage to me.
  12. We'll more and more evidence that we are heading towards a bear market. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/the-next-bear-market-in-stocks-will-spark-a-retirement-crisis-2018-06-27 Social Security has started to tap trust funds that will run out by 2034. Medicare has increased using trust funds that are expected to be depleted by 2026. End result is both programs are expected to be insolvent and the gov continues to increase spending on defense over taking care of the country. 10,000 baby boomers retire every day making this an even bigger uglier mess. We are in the 10th year by some of a bull market that has quadrupled since March 2009 with an average 17.5% return, outpacing the prior 89 years of a 10% average growth by S&P 500. A correction is over due. 401K's have been pushed to their highest level ever, but over half of retires will not be able to afford basic expenses in retirement. Pension funds by feds, state, county and cities not to mention private companies will see major hits as they are greatly underfunded and a bear market could force many of them to become bankrupt liabilities that will destroy people counting on their pensions. Corporate tax cuts and go for broke spending of the current administration and political groups in DC has guaranteed Trillions in budget deficits for the next 10-20 years at a time that interest rates are rising. Federal Reserve added $3 trillion to it's balance sheet to deal with the last depression / recession has no room to address the next one. This means rate cutting will not happen and central banks will not be able to buy up bonds. Many have prepared for this, but more often than not many more have not. Paying down debt and saving is a must for everyone.
  13. Went to a local auto shop that is well known for quality work as my daughters AC system has to be replaced and recharged. They had some beautiful American Iron there being worked on. Buick Beauty Fords
  14. Totally agree as to why the competition I see with the XT4 is the GLA, X3, Q3, etc.
  15. QUESTION: Does anyone know if the XT4 requires Premium or can run on regular or premium? I noticed in the comparison chart that all the other auto's are stated as Premium fuel required.
  16. You clearly have not talked to the bulk or type of people that are buying JGC. They DO NOT CARE about 0-60 times, they care about if it gets them from point A to B and safely with their tech toys. My son is a perfect example, when he was shopping to replace his Jeep Patriot that he loved but was starting to have issues at 81,000 miles he test drove a JGC with a V8 and loved it, but the cost and gas mileage for commuting to work and doing his kind of active lifestyle did not justify him spending the money when the V6 was fast enough to get on the freeway and merge, roomy for him and his girlfriend and did everything he wanted it to do. The 0 - 60 Time crowd is less than 1% of the population and even smaller among auto enthusiast like here on C&G. As @Cubical-aka-Moltar points out, JGC has the Trackhawk and Trailhawk to deal with those crowds and it does it well. XT4 related and I do admit to being partly to blame for going off into the weeds with full size SUVs, the XT4 will NOT compete against the Compass, Terrain, Equinox or many other CUV's out there. What would be interesting is to see a chart if anyone has the time to dig up a comparison of the XT4 to the X3, GLA, Q3, etc. Yet so many websites say the competition is the Acura RDX, Infiniti QX50, Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes-benz GLC, so a hunting I went and found on the website "The Car Connection the following comparison: Weird, the saved picture is much bigger than what is shown above. Here is the website link: https://www.thecarconnection.com/compare/cadillac_xt4_2019_choices
  17. My 1994 GMC Suburban SLE all cleaned up and ready for the summer.
  18. Potus 45 does not care, he only cares about becoming a dictator of America and increasing his own wealth at everyone else's expense. We all know that Trade Wars never make things better. This is part of the upcoming recession brought to you by the 1% club that does not care. What I worry about is that this is going to bring about a new global caste system. There seems to be more and more that want a global socialist system and more and more of the elite power pack that wants a caste system. Sadly Democracy and freedom is the loser here. When a daughter of a president earns 82 million estimated in a year that she is also supposedly working for the american people, clearly conflicts of interest no longer seem to be an impeachable offense. Our system has become corrupt all the way to the top and this brings about what we now see here in a trade war that will cost many jobs beyond the auto industry. Trickle up reaction is what will happen, as jobs are lost, companies close and we could enter our 3rd great depression since the 2nd great depression of 2007 to 2012. Added note: One of the worlds largest Tech companies is going to consolidate their excessive overlapping storage portfolio to clean house on the best of small, medium, large and Enterprise storage. I estimate they will lay off about 30-40 thousand tech workers as they retire old block storage. These people are going to be out by the end of the year searching for jobs at a time that this Tradewar is killing jobs.
  19. LOL I can imagine you having to climb up and in. I just lift my wife into them all the time, but then she loves sitting up higher. For me even in my lifted suburban I still just slide in, but then I do have side steps for everyone else getting into the suburban. Love the ground clearance and my wife is the one that always tells people they drive like a car as she find them very easy to drive and nothing like what people tend to think of being that old 3 point truck lock to lock turn around in a parking lot. I think @Drew Dowdell Nailed it with his statement: "Their ease of driving far exceeds common expectations. "
  20. I Disagree, it amazes me how many people drive bashed up subcompacts and cannot park them and yet I can put SUVs in places that many people thought would not fit. Driving skill and confidence is what it takes.
  21. Pass, cool car, but pass, many other options that are better out there I think.
  22. I honestly see GM eventually reducing the price on the Bolt and Volt in relation to dropping fed credit. Plus new EV models will help continue to drive the market forwad.
  23. Saw these all the time going to college in Kobe Japan, but mostly I just see the same Skylines running around Seattle. Not much else.
