  1. I will say this is much better than any previous version of the Camry in looks. Yet I see they have started to use the Predator mouth on Toyota making Lexus and Toyota look the same again. This could also be a move to give Lexus a new look and Toyota moves onto the old Lexus look. No matter what, while this is the best this car has ever looked, it still would not get me to buy it. BLAH.
  2. Why bother, you do not see duplication as well as SMK you guys see nothing but perfection in MB with all their excessive versions of auto's and blah style excluding AMG. you guys seem to see nothing wrong with MB much how people saw Cadillac in the 80's before their complete bust. excluding size, the minuscule amount of sales in the all convertibles to sedans, etc. shows why Parent Daimler broke up the company, they see weakness and my gut tells me they are making changes behind the scenes as I suspect you will see a reduction in product versions. No company is perfect and the Americans especially so. Germans are where America was in the 70's to 80's. history is repeating itself and the Germans are about to implode but you guys do not see it, enjoy your rosy glasses of German superiority.
  3. I have no gumption that it will come as a terrible built CUV with buggy software.
  4. Amazing what we did for marketing during the early console days. What other ads can you find?
  5. Update on this, Today this company is now a public company trading on NASDAQ. https://investors.electrameccanica.com/press-releases/detail/34/electra-meccanica-to-ring-the-nasdaq-opening-bell-on-august Today August 30th 2018 Meccanica became a public company trading on Nasdaq. According to the company, they are on track to offer their single person EV for sale in America starting Q1 of 2019. https://electrameccanica.com/
  6. So the CVT is a profit move for a cheaper transmission. Sadly it will also give a bad impression since they suck. Wish GM would have not done this.
  7. Sharp looking car. Thanks for the update. This is great.
  8. Thinking on this, maybe the point of FCA lawsuit is they realize money is on the table due to the success of say Yamaha ATV's and people wanting a bit bigger. So creating an off road Jeep ATV that they sell for 15-20K dollars is a great idea, but late to the party when you have a 10K Mahindra already here.
  9. Hate to say it but that looks so CHEAP. I would not want that on my truck.
  10. https://chargedevs.com/newswire/california-mayors-call-for-100-zero-emission-buses-by-2040/ Charged EVS is reporting that the mayors of California cities have proposed to the state transit agencies to convert 100% of public buses to zero emission by 2040 as part of their Innovative Clean Transit (ICT) initiative. 39 transit agencies in the state currently have over 130 buses that have over 200 mile range that run successfully showing that they can remove all emission polluting buses from city streets. With this push, it will pull along other states that want cleaner mass transit and ignore the push by a current administration that is more oil based supporting than clean air.
  11. Penn State Research Penn State Nickel foil fast charging battery diagram To quote their abstract with significance: Significance Range anxiety is a key reason that consumers are reluctant to embrace electric vehicles (EVs). To be truly competitive with gasoline vehicles, EVs should allow drivers to recharge quickly anywhere in any weather, like refueling gasoline cars. However, none of today’s EVs allow fast charging in cold or even cool temperatures due to the risk of lithium plating, the formation of metallic lithium that drastically reduces battery life and even results in safety hazards. Here, we present an approach that enables 15-min fast charging of Li-ion batteries in any temperatures (even at −50 °C) while still preserving remarkable cycle life (4,500 cycles, equivalent to >12 y and >280,000 miles of EV lifetime), thus making EVs truly weather-independent. Abstract Fast charging is a key enabler of mainstream adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). None of today’s EVs can withstand fast charging in cold or even cool temperatures due to the risk of lithium plating. Efforts to enable fast charging are hampered by the trade-off nature of a lithium-ion battery: Improving low-temperature fast charging capability usually comes with sacrificing cell durability. Here, we present a controllable cell structure to break this trade-off and enable lithium plating-free (LPF) fast charging. Further, the LPF cell gives rise to a unified charging practice independent of ambient temperature, offering a platform for the development of battery materials without temperature restrictions. We demonstrate a 9.5 Ah 170 Wh/kg LPF cell that can be charged to 80% state of charge in 15 min even at −50 °C (beyond cell operation limit). Further, the LPF cell sustains 4,500 cycles of 3.5-C charging in 0 °C with <20% capacity loss, which is a 90× boost of life compared with a baseline conventional cell, and equivalent to >12 y and >280,000 miles of EV lifetime under this extreme usage condition, i.e., 3.5-C or 15-min fast charging at freezing temperatures. According to another site, this new design only adds a 0.5% weight and a 0.04% to the cost while adding a breakthrough that frees battery design from other tradeoffs till such time that solid state batteries become practical in production and cost. The biggest challenge that this helps solve is what has been called the Goldilocks zone. Cooling is important but so is heating of a battery so that it is in that perfect optimized temperature to accept the maximum charging into the battery cell. Currently OEMs are using either air or liquid to get the just right zone of charging for their auto battery. Between solid state breakthroughs and continued research such as this, one could see much faster charging times and longer ranges in all weather conditions to getting an EV running all over regardless of what mother nature throws at it. 12. MB Brand covers Chevy versions to luxury versions and they are watering down their brand as a luxury line with the excessive duplication at every level. They are the king right now from a brand standpoint but I see them already dropping as their ATP is not what it used to be, people are confused as to what they want to be. They would have been better off doing a low to mid level brand line under a different name. I have to question if Mercedes-benz will be the same company in 10 years.
  13. Who cares, not me. No use for an off road only product that cannot go on the streets too.
  14. They clearly do not want to pay for the auto's just borrow them and tear them apart.
  15. Do you remember what the price was? I took a look at the local GMC dealer here and was shocked to see most of the trucks were all Denali from be it a 1 ton or half ton and they ran from $68K to $79K. WOW, that is crazy pricing.
  16. Amazing Tesla airborne, misses sticking the landing and ends in jail. The police sure have taken a jolly attitude about it on their site. Ack, Stupidest thing ever having a car like this.
  17. Always excitement here in Washington State. Last night a floating mine was discovered in our waters by a Marina.

  19. So looking at this, it seems a $300 to $500 dollar increase for a New 2019 Volt over the 2018. I do wonder why continue with the 3.6 kW charger. GM should be leading this by just standardizing the Bolt 7.2 kW charger on everything and push by using a 15 kW charger at the top end. GM come on and Lead, do not follow or lag after the great stuff you did with the BOLT.
  20. 2019 CHEVROLET VOLT CHARGES QUICKER, IMPROVES CONVENIENCE 2018-06-28 DETROIT — A new 7.2 kW charging system on the 2019 Chevrolet Volt cuts recharging times nearly in half by adding about twice the all-electric driving range per hour of charge. The new system headlines a number of additional enhancements for the 2019 Volt and increases the vehicle’s all-electric utility for owners who take advantage of “opportunity charging,” or plugging in around town to top off the battery charge. “With about twice the range added during 240V Level 2 charging sessions, the 2019 Volt’s 7.2 kW system makes opportunity charging more worthwhile,” said Jesse Ortega, chief engineer, Chevrolet Electric Vehicles. “It effectively extends the vehicle’s all-electric driving range, while providing about twice the range for the money when plugging in at public facilities that charge by the hour.” With the new 7.2 kW system, a complete recharge can be achieved in as little as 2.3 hours with a 240-volt outlet and supporting hardware. The new system is standard on the 2019 Volt Premier model and available on the LT trim. A 3.6 kW charger is standard on the Volt LT. The new charging system complements the Volt’s extended-range electric propulsion system, which with a full tank of gas and a full charge offers an EPA-estimated 53 miles of pure EV range and 106 MPGe, or gasoline equivalent. When the Volt’s battery runs low, a gas-powered generator kicks in to extend the driving range to a total of 420 miles (675 km) on a full tank. Improved owner experience In addition to the new charging system, the 2019 Volt offers a number of enhancements designed to improve convenience and help owners get more out of their all-electric driving experience. For those in colder climates who want to use as little gas as possible, the 2019 Volt allows activation of the automatic engine-assisted heating system to be deferred until much lower temperatures — minus 13 degrees F / minus 25 degrees C — for more all-electric operation. The 2019 Volt also features new Low and Regen on Demand profiles that enable increased regenerative braking capability when drivers let off the accelerator pedal. The feature helps the vehicle achieve its class-leading EV range, and the updates come with an improved driving feel with smoother operation when slowing. A new Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system with an 8-inch-diagonal color touchscreen incorporates a new Energy App. The app’s Impacts Screen shows drivers how driving style, route, weather conditions and cabin comfort setting may affect range and conveys the impact more intuitively based on mileage rather than the previous numerical “score.” Drivers will enjoy having more information about their efficiencies and can aim to eke out every EV mile possible. The 2019 Volt also introduces its first power driver’s seat. The six-way seat is standard on Premier and available on LT models. Additional changes and updates: GM’s continuing evolution of the pedestrian alert system, first deployed in 2011, now using front and rear speakers to provide audible alerts when operating at slow speeds. A new digital rearview camera replaces the previous analog system. New driver-switchable Adaptive Cruise Control allows the choice of conventional cruise control or adaptive cruise control. New tire fill alert sounds a horn when full tire pressure is achieved. New, decorative seating patterns are offered on cloth seats. New Power Convenience Package available on LT adds a power driver seat in addition to all content offered on the Comfort Package. Wireless charging pad for compatible phones is relocated ahead of the shifter for easier use (available with navigation radio). New Pacific Blue Metallic exterior color is available. New Jet Black/Porcelain Blue interior is offered on Premier. Available dealer-installed blackout package includes sport pedals, black front/rear bowtie emblems and 17-inch machined-aluminum wheels with black-painted pockets. “The 2019 Volt’s enhancements give customers more of what they love with the vehicle and make it even more useful as an everyday electric vehicle,” said Ortega. “It’s a more seamless experience than ever.” Availability The 2019 Chevrolet Volt goes on sale this fall. FAST FACT: Volt owners have driven more than 2.8 billion EV miles, saving more than 108 million gallons of gas. 21. Good write up, very interesting and for me it confirmed that this car falls in the same category of BLAH car as the Prius. Both have ugly dashes, exterior is that blah coupe design that is so tiring and right now is just barely better than the gas cars in mileage. I would rather just have a pure electric over this.
  22. Interesting ?, he squeals like a little girl!
  23. I agree that the AMG is an awesome line just like Cadillac's V edition that I still do not get why they have not done a V-edition to every product. Escalade, XT5, etc. Yet the worst part is also their most common BLAH part. From the S-Class to the A-Class they all look the same. On top of this, stop duplicating with a Roadster and Cabriolet. Just do a freaking convertible for the few that want it, no need to have one in every product line that sells less than 100 a month. I truly think there is an excessive waste of car duplication in MB which also is a waste of money. They are in their hey day and right now it is great they are so profitable to waste money on excess, but this is also how Cadillac fell and right now, the German brands have allot of black eyes due to the diesel emission scandal and other issues. If all was great in Daimler, they would not have broken the company down into 3 stand alone divisions. Starting next year, a true picture will show on just how well Mercedes-Benz is doing now that the other profit sections are broken out from them.
