  1. Interesting to see what changes on the SUV. The cars I could care less about, though I am happy to see them go the Hybrid route.
  2. Yes, I could so just live in the Yukon and off the land and enjoy the peace and quiet with no modern tech at times.
  3. Nice, looks like a normal CUV, has a 21st century looking dash. Be interested to see what the actual interior space is when they are on the lot.
  4. Floating islands of FireAnts in NC flood zones. Crazy!!!
  5. Meh, time for it to go bye bye till they bring it back as an EV in limited production on their global platform.
  6. They are on the back end of their oil reserves and must diversify for the long term wealth of their country. Right now going into other technology is the smartest thing they can do.
  7. https://driveelectricweek.org/index.php Started in 2011 and now from a local to a national even, last week was the biggest turnout ever for National Drive Electric Week. Washington state alone had 17 individual events. This year for 2018 there was a total of 322 events during the week throughout all of North America. As is to be expected, the top auto's most commonly found at these events are Tesla, Nissan Leaf, Chevrolet Bolt / Volt, BMW i3 / i8, plus all kinds of cool conversion auto's. Plenty of shows all over but here were some cool ones like this one in New Jersey. Here was one in Issaquah Washington at the XXX Root Beer Burger place.
  8. The durangos and dakota pickups had this also. My daughters 1999 Durango and sons 1998 Dakota both have this option.
  9. I agree, I am surprised that Chevrolet did not install a manual deactivate switch for airbags when offroading. Seems like a common sense rather than have such a sensitive your rolling over sensor when they are not.
  10. Yes fairly new but not wow, better than everyone else. It would be nice if GM would actually focus on being better than everyone rather than just equal to or we have a product in that category, good enough attitude.
  11. Should be exciting since it will be built side by side with the Jeep pickup truck. That should mean we get some serious off road capabilities hopefully without the current side airbag problems the ZR2 is having.
  12. Seems a British racing car company has patented a new production process that will allow auto companies to dump weight by using race car or body-in-white production to enhance a cars efficiency. With electric auto's having a weight increase due to batteries, this company believes this is the future. seats are 30% lighter than standard seats and just as comfortable and even safer. Better yet is that they see the average auto having a power to weight ratio of 8.5 lbs per horsepower. The company goes onto say that you could have a modern auto that would weight about 1,874 lbs, use a 220 hp 1.5 L 4-cylinder engine to achieve their power to weight statement. The whole body-in-white design is taking the best of the production world with the best of the racing world so that you end up with an ultra lite carbon fiber reinforced body structure paired to high strength aluminum pan and ribbing. Welcome to the iStream car as the British race car company calls their new mass produced low carbon vehicle. Race Car Lightweight design on production cars story
  13. My last comment on this as we have gone away from the car discussion, but I find much less personal space in the Asian side of the house for me. Back on cars, GM needs to make a massive update to their car line to keep it competitive which I think we all agree needs to be done and at least they are not totally dumping it like Ford which I think will bite them in the butt in the near future.
  14. OUCH, seems ZR2 trucks are blowing their airbags in mild off road use and clearly lots of fans are not happy as GM is blowing them off. https://jalopnik.com/chevrolet-colorado-side-curtain-airbags-keep-deploying-1828951213 Crazy to watch the videos and see very mild off road stuff being done and BOOM the side head airbags are deployed. A bit too sensitive I think for what this truck is supposed to be capable of.
  15. Absurd, NOT. Yes they are designed for the US market and to the average spec of 5'6" tall for female and 5' 8" tall for male. With company HQ that still focuses on their own view of the world and size. My 5' 8" tall Korean wife who spends plenty of time in the Asian rim and is always called an American asian when she was in fact born and raised in Korea but moved here to the US at 13 years of age and works out so is more muscular is always told she is fat by her cousins as they are toothpicks. There is a very different approach taken in how they look at auto's as they come from a car bases first whereas US OEMs come from a truck view first I believe. My view and I stick by it as I spend plenty of time in Asian, German and US based auto's to see where things are tight for me, where my head hits, how things like a extreme sloped windshield of a CX9 makes it harder to get into compared to a Travers, etc. One can clearly see the slope of the Mazda compared to the Chevy in these pictures. It makes a big difference in entry and exit to the auto. I hit this same problem on many cars but especially on asian cars with a geater sloping windshield.
  16. In 2019 Hyundai will be launching their new Fuel Cell Electric Truck line in Europe. For now, the truck will officially debut at the IAA Commercial Vehicles Show that takes place September 20th to 27th in Hanover, Germany. The truck continues Hyundai drive to lead the market in clean transportation options. They have offered a clean simple aerodynamic truck that is expected to match the real truck that will be shown at the show. The tech is based on the experience gained from the ix35 fuel cell auto and the recent NEXO Fuel cell concept. Hyundai has had numerous announcements this year as they have partnered with Audi on Fuel Cell technology research to allow them both to reduce costs as they enter the FCEV supply chain and product sales. Hyundai has come together with 53 energy companies, transport and industry part companies to host the Global Hydrogen Leaders Forum at Global Climate Action Summit to show the benefits of Hydrogen electric auto's. The goal by the Hydrogen council is to get agreement and consent to move forward so that by 2030 1.5 million autonomous taxis, 700,000 autonomous shuttles, 8,000 VTOLs (vertical take-off and landing taxis), 3.6 million delivery trucks as well as providing up to 1 TWh of backup power for data centers. Hyundai is making a giant push forward that Hydrogen will place a niche but very important part in the auto revolution. 17. Totally makes sense, Diesel is dead in regards to cars and basic personal transportation. I expect diesel to continue on strong in the trucking sector, mass transit for a while as they slowly change over to CNG/LNG and other forms of hybrid use. Hybrid Personal transportation is the future along with EV.
  18. I remember Mailbox baseball and my dad fixed it by using a commercial I-beam in 4' deep cement along with welding a new mailbox out of 1" thick commercial sheet steel. The next time the kids tried, they ended up having damage to their car and and a we got a bat. I think the kid swung, hit an immovable object and the bat left the hands, hit the car and no more mailbox baseball attacks.
  19. I just do not get the whole prank to cause big damage to people houses.
  20. At least we are seeing some crazy concepts much like we used to see in the 60's.
  21. Nope, CX9 sucks on space, people over 6' tall are cramped, lack of versatile seats was a big problem till this years version and still you hit your head getting into them due to their Komodo dragon style of extreme sloped windshield. Mazda Failure. Trucks, Tundra had the measurements, but not the real space same with the taco. Measurements but not real space for real large Americans. Your probably average, 5'8" to 5' 10" tall, try getting into them when your 6'6" tall and large frame. Asian built for small petite Asian size.
  22. White collared, small height people tend to buy asian trucks. I totally agree that they are old and have the kinks ironed out, but as long as they build for small people, the larger redneck, physical working Americans will still go with GM / Ford / RAM. Asian Trucks, CUVs, cars mean little people in my book and this continues to prove out even in the improved Mazda CX9 that has a better interior than the one I rented 2 years ago, but is still built for small people.
  23. Totally agree, I wish he would come back and continue cool discussions like this.
