  1. It will take 100 years for no ICE on the roads except in collectors hands and that is only if the planet figures out how to build electrical grids in 3rd world countries that are not destroyed by terrorists. By 2050 I expect most 1st world countries will have moved over to electric cars with old ICE collector auto's still out and about. Course the sooner I can covert myself the better.
  2. Rivian could build the truck RWD/AWD only with a bare bones rubber interior for State, County, City and Fed Gov's that want EVs. I suspect a number of cities would love to have a low maintenance electric truck to use for their parks, maintenance, etc. I honestly am surprised we have not seen one sooner out of the OEM's marketed to that group like the police Interceptor SUVs.
  3. But ya know Musk is the smartest person in the room and it would be a cold day in hell before he would snuggle up to Barra to have a joint manufacturing where they actually built a consistent auto and quickly off the assembly line.
  4. So then 5 different woman, one in every port as they say? ? Totally agree, one has to wonder what the hell is wrong with someone that makes more money in a year then 99% of the rest of society and he still needs to steal? ?‍♂️
  5. Clearly Musk did not listen as he still wanted to roboticize in a way not done by the OEMs. That really seems to have mucked him up.
  6. I understand the delay in announcement, but I had also read and I think it was in Bloomberg where the release date of the long range leaf was still on track, just the announcement to the press and at what show was now delayed. Will have to find that story.
  7. WOW, what a sweet Ride. Saw this today, talk about amazing shape. The senior who owned it clearly takes pride in owning it! Also saw this old Muttang Convertible while driving.
  8. OUCH, Seems a 1 star rating by the European safety commision testing auto's. Makes me wonder how the 2019 version will test out here in the US. Interesting statement: "It is truly disappointing to see a brand-new car being put on sale in 2018 with no autonomous braking system and no lane assistance," said Michiel van Ratingen, the secretary general of Euro NCAP, in a statement. "It is high time we saw a product from the Fiat Chrysler group offering safety to rival its competitors." In its statement to Roadshow, a Fiat Chrysler spokesperson said that an integrated radar and camera modulenestled behind the rearview mirror will give the 2019 Wrangler both automatic braking and adaptive cruise control capabilities. 9. Correct, Thanking for posting that link. One can only plan and strategize when one has details and that link is a good one to know. I hope no one is harshly affected by the next downturn, but one is coming and planning, prepping, etc. is a very important part to minimize the affect of a cooling economy.
  10. Seems to be enough willing to spend millions on their hyper hybrid car, I bet they would buy this too. I have multiple coworkers that have Porsche cars and they are all super excited for the electric versions to come out. I actually expect the Porsche buyers to be more embracing than other OEM buyers.
  11. Totally agree, I just do not get the 6 sp to gas versus diesel with the 10 sp. You would think they would have the gas mated to at least the 8sp that you find all over other GM auto's or use the 10 sp from the diesel. That I would think would be great.
  12. I expect RJ who is a very sharp individual and has the education chops to survive to get their auto's to market. To quote their web site: Rivian acquired a manufacturing plant near Normal, Illinois in the former Mitsubishi Motors plant in January 2017. As of 2017, the company planned for this plant to be the primary North American location for its manufacturing. The plant has a floor area of 2.4 million square feet. They also have a fully functional paint shop and receiving site.
  13. Makes total sense as it would also help Ford out with under utilized manufacturing and could reduce the estimated 25,000 layoffs that the financial world says is coming with Fords $11 Billion restructuring.
  14. The charts are amazing to look at when you review the last 40 years here in the US. https://www.cnbc.com/2018/12/04/the-same-bond-market-move-happening-now-occurred-before-the-last-three-recessions.html
  15. Audi has confirmed that the e-Tron will be in the next Avengers 4 movie! https://www.autoblog.com/2018/12/04/audi-e-tron-gt-concept-avengers-4/
  16. Seems CHP are still smarter than Tesla, a possible DUI was asleep at the wheel with no response to the officers. They positioned themselves in front of the 70 mph Tesla and slowed down which causes the Tesla Autopilot to slow and eventually come to a stop. The 45 year old driver was arrested under suspicion of DUI. https://www.autoblog.com/2018/12/03/chp-officers-outsmart-tesla-driver-asleep/ Very Cool!
  17. Volkswagen AG expects starting in 2026 when they roll out their next-generation gas and diesel engines that are currently in development that it will be the end of any new ICE power trains. Michael Jost strategy chief for VW has stated that in some markets already ICE is starting to fad and by 2026 as more EVs enter the market place, the transition will be underway. VW will continue to modify and tweak as needed for markets where there is insufficient charging infrastructure which will carry this last power train line past 2050. For all major markets though, EVs will become the norm. Bloomberg Story
  18. I know the front of the truck is polarizing, but https://www.rivian.com has placed a shot across their bow. The Rivian Electric Adventure Truck clearly has the chops to go places most of the other trucks cannot especially in the water.
  19. 2020 Chevy Silverado HD is 910 Pound-feet of UGLY! Road/Show has an awesome title for the story about this truck! https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/2020-chevy-silverado-hd-truck/ So 3 inches of legroom in the rear of the crew cab models tell me they are wanting to go after the buyers of the RAM Mega Cab truck. Gonna have to see what the leg room is as I just saw elsewhere that Ford was also adding legroom to the rear seat area of the crew cabs. Seems we might have a legroom war brewing!
  20. WRONG, She is saving it and planning for a bright future and even bigger profits. The days of a single company being everything from eco entry to ubber luxury are over and focus products is where the profits are and more importantly jobs that are supported by profits.
  21. Sounds like you have been drinking the MB Koolaide where one company will rule it all from entry to ultra luxury. We are a Multicultural Society of Global Products Globally sold and the days of US Empire building are gone along with the English Empire and everyone else that thinks singularly in the world. Globally is the planet you live on.
  22. Why not remove it totally, even if bolted in and open the full space for your need.
