  1. December figures are out and they are ugly. https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/the-first-economic-data-from-december-is-in-and-it-shows-trouble/ar-BBRIw5s?li=BBnb7Kz GM is doing the right thing in reducing headcount and shutting down unneeded manufacturing. Yes some of this is UAW Union positioning, but most of it is the fact that the economy is past due for a serious correction. I would plan to see layoffs and reductions later this year from all the auto OEMs and their suppliers.
  2. Excited to see what GM shows off for EVs this year and to get to sit in and test drive the MB EQC.
  3. Any vehicles used for business can qualify for the business tax deduction, you just have to clearly document it or have the business buy it and have your accountant properly apply the deductions against the business asset usually. I strongly suggest you talk to your accountant to learn specifically how to apply the business deductions against the auto cost.
  4. Awesome review @bobo Thank you for such an outstanding review of the year and nailing it so well. Happy New Year!
  5. Be interesting to see if they finish bringing online their assembly line in northern California. https://www.ff.com/ https://www.ff.com/us/press-room/new-hanford-manufacturing-facility/ Hanford California is where their production facility is located.
  6. Totally agree that the powertrain needs to work for what is envio friendly. Washington state is all Hydro, Solar and Wind, so power is cheap and ultra clean, so running EV's make the cities quiet and cleaner. China only recently joined the worlds biggest hydro production with the completion of some massive dams in the last 20 years, they still also suck down the largest amount of Coal, so rolling Coal Power Production with no exhaust filtering is pretty dirty there. @dwightlooi Really like your engine thoughts here, so in adding to @Drew Dowdell questions in regards to the 6.8 Liter size. Why only 11.5:1 compression and not go higher and require the Premium? After all Europe points to the benefits of running the cleaner higher octane with the power/performance benefits from premium.
  7. LOL, New Year, did not even think of our Amish Loving @ocnblu who I hope is having a great New Year. I was truly thinking of what I am doing with my Suburban. Since there is no new cars that excite me outside of Cadillac and fit me outside of SUVs, I look at the wide range of cool trucks and SUVs that can be had at a cheap price if your looking for a project.
  8. The same could be said about taking an old rusty ICE auto and spend 10's of thousands on rebuilding it from the ground up including customer exhaust, suspension, fuel tank etc. It is the passion we have for keeping new and old auto's around but in something totally different. It is why I have my 1994 GMC SLE Suburban, went from stock, to performance ICE, then performance CNG and now will go to EV as I will have a long range Suburban all Electric, room comfy and not having to deal with all the bloody nanny devices. Seeing early 2000's or lat 1990's auto's that people have converted as they love the auto but want an electric powertrain. I truly believe GM push to have Electric motors with harness and battery packs you can buy to retro fit an ICE auto but just connecting the transmission to the electric motor will be an exciting move for them in the Crate Motor area.
  9. Course always fun if you have the time and money to take a newer auto you like that say has a blown motor and decide you want to convert it to an EV for local commute fun.
  10. Excellent valid points and finally we are getting out of ICE what was proven and shown 40 years ago. Efficiency for the time being as R&D takes place to get EV's to the same point and even better for society. Looking at 40 years ago and the smog level of LA which is what Shanghai is like today shows that technology must push forward for the betterment of human health. No reason to not us both technologies where they make excellent sense. EV's in the inner city and suburbs where you have short trips, can easily plug it in at night and have a full tank the next morning and ICE for many other uses that EVs are not ready for. In regards to the V8, I truly like your design you have suggested above, I just will never be a fan of DOHC engines and the lack of torque they have compared to HP naturally aspirated. I get what can be done here with this motor and the use it would bring. Happy you are back and stating your ideas and beliefs, Happy New Year Dwight!
  11. I watched live that run and it still is awesome even on YouTube. Future is Electric screaming by!
  12. Would also probably be a good replacement for a new 300! ?
  13. With Toyota Ownership, the cars seem to have gotten smaller inside and more bland. Have to say nothing really exciting here from Subaru even in STi form.
  14. Been seeing these lately all over the Greater Seattle area. Seems to be a very popular family hauler. I wonder if this is due to the following for Washington Resident purchases. Fully Loaded Hybrid Limited is $48,825 here $7,500 fed tax break $1000 Chrysler incentive Washington State no Sales tax on EV's / specific Hybrids such as this model. Save $4,883 in sales tax. ?
  15. Looks like two cars one across the front of it, agree tight wrap like this is not good.
  16. I do not remember that chrome bar on the front. Exciting they are here, but will have to wait till I see more on them. Was the Sport model, top of the line Monochromatic? ?
  17. The bland styling of this auto and the terrible front nose just make it a puke fest for me. Pass, I see nothing inside or out that would make this an exciting auto to own. While I would never own a German auto, I would take a German auto over any of the over rated garbage Italians make.
  18. Weird part here in Seattle is the white boys love the asian auto's and the asian boys love the american pony cars. Very weird to see this at the local car club shows.
  19. Lets actually go with his inauguration day when he is held accountable for the stock market, not the past president. From this point forward he truly had control of changing the dynamics and now we sit near this point again on Xmas day just shy of 2 years in the white house. The Dow closed at 19,827.25 on Inauguration Day, Jan. 20, 2017
  20. Short term they will succeed, but long term, I agree unless they morph into something else, this will be a dead end business in a decade.
  21. Totally agree, from an engineering standpoint, I see no reason to not have a skateboard concept that could also still handing 4 and 6 cylinder motors. As a global platform, that would allow a large array of power train options for various market needs around the world and would pay for itself.
  22. Agreed, we have been long overdue for a correction. https://money.cnn.com/data/markets/ Apple is down to $146 and change. Over all this week to the end of the year will be profit taking and I would not be surprised to see the market hit 20K and then bounce back up to around 21-22k. The KKR published in mid 2017 saying the US would be in a deep recession by the end of 2019. https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-07-13/kkr-predicts-us-recession-2019-and-inevitable-cycle-millennial-deleveraging Now many various places are saying it too and it seems the drop in stock market, over long crazy trillion dollars of debt by businesses and the billions in personal debt will take us there. It is going to be interesting to see what all happens next year.
  23. Hope Koch Brothers die an ugly death soon. They are spending millions to attack the lovely EV industry. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/koch-electric-vehicles_us_56c4d63ce4b0b40245c8cbf6 Death to these pigs!
