  1. Would agree with this as their auto's are very dated in the looks department. Yes they have leading edge tech in the power train, but the style is truly affected by public emotion and right now, what other OEMs have shown are exciting people more than Tesla at the moment is. Tesla really needs a Style update, yet Musk implies they are running out of cash, so I doubt we will see much change.
  2. I understand and like you there is a need for Taxis, yet I prefer to drive my own clean auto than one trashed by people who just want to use it and be held responsible. I also like you think the whole auto sharing future is over blown.
  3. While I am not a fan of using Uber / Lyft / Taxis, I do get their need and appeal to those that would rather use an App to get a ride from A to B. GM if it really wanted to change peoples perception of GM auto's should Market and push using the Best of each model GM has to offer to show off how great their auto's are. I am sure they could find some way to use this as a marketing write off to at least break even showing everything from entry level to luxury level in the Maven family. At least I would hope so.
  4. Bonus today, walking to the bus to head home and all 3 vendors were in close proximity to each other. so gla and glc plus x3 yet all.small autos.
  5. I am not surprised by this for the Diesel. I do wonder how sales will be affected on Diesel. Be interesting to see what sales are this year compared to last year and the year before. Those that want it will eventually get it, but this delay is not good for diesel sales.
  6. I can totally see American as well as Chinese companies wanting to buy Tesla. Makes total sense for a tech company that does want to push into the auto space to buy them especially one with deep pockets like Apple, Microsoft, Google, Huawei, etc.
  7. If GM would actually market it, use a wide selection of auto's from full size trucks and SUVs to compacts, I think they could make money on this. Heck I would have liked to use a full size GM truck over U-Haul. GM just does not get how to support and actually grow new businesses. Sad
  8. @A Horse With No Name Not so sure Apple is that smart, they seemed to have missed the streaming thing, Apple products have not been innovative, Samsung has passed them up. Tim Cook seems to be more on status quo and just keep things consistent than innovating. I suspect Apple will fall back down to where they were in the early 2000's.
  9. Enjoy the Day with the Wife @oldshurst442 I will admit, taking public transit, aka express bus into work every day has cut my gas bill and maintenance down big time. Most of the Uber / lyft drivers are driving compact auto's so not comfy for me compared to our double decker buses here. The ride share programs are all small auto's. Lime uses Fiat 500, ZipCar here is all Honda Civics or Subaru Foresters and Car2Go is MB C-Class or their equal CUV. ReachNow is BMW 3 series with a few X3. For the most part, the auto's are too small for me.
  10. Zipcar and Car2Go are big in Seattle, but I can honestly say the cars are beat up. It is not pretty to see the amount of damage on them. Lime Bike who started in Seattle a couple years back and those ugly lime green bikes everywhere started a Lime Car share program and has ugly Lime Green Fiats all over, but they seem to not be getting used like Zipcar or Car2Go. FYI, I question how long these ride share programs will last. BMW had ReachNow in Seattle and the auto's are still around but have not really gotten much use, just plenty of damage like Car2Go and Zipcar. I see on their web site that ReachNow and Car2Go have merged and will now be known at Reach Now with a new phone app and logo for their joined auto's. You now will have a choice of BMW or MB autos. https://reachnow.com/en/
  11. Car sharing service requires people who careless about the auto so sharing it with others and having nicks, scratches, etc. does not bother them. Most people I believe like to take care of their stuff and as such are not willing to let someone else use it and abuse it.
  12. If the person truly does not care about auto's but does live an active life style, then CUVs and I would say follow consumer reports and get a cheap reliable CUV. If they are not living an active life style, then go car and again, be a CR lemming and just follow what they quote. I a truck might be perfect for someone who cares less about the auto, but just needs to haul stuff and it does not matter if it gets wet or not. Might be a bit too open ended until you know more about the person who will be driving the auto.
  13. That should be popular then as a 3 some was listed on the dreams of college students for a crazy night of passion.
  14. Did I miss the ride hailing service picture with a prostitute on the cover? ? Just saw the pic Bill used.
  15. Funny that a comment on the original story says sell the whole company to Gilbert as the company initials would not change and the person believe Gilbert would run it better. lol
  16. WOW, Lot's of potential, but they both need a remodel IMHO. I do like the rambler space and all the garage space. Being on the lake would be cool. I could fish all the time. I noticed, are most of the home there electric heat? Must have some power bills during the winter and summer for heating and cooling. Wonder how hard it would be to get gas at the home?
  17. Not to mention those deadly critter in Arizona. I would rather have a garage, but big one on my rambler.
  18. Trumps hatred of all things not Baby boomer old including electrics as he seems to love oil companies could truly make Tesla go private / merge with another auto company. Sadly that seems to be the fate for small companies that have bucked the trends of what some see as the way to do things. I would say Tesla's biggest mistake is not coping the assembly process of the existing auto companies and trying to re-invent the assembly process as all robotic. It will be an interesting year for sure. It is bigger than just making more crossovers. Musk has not wanted to follow anything the existing auto companies in the world have done to streamline the assembly process. As such, they clearly waste more money on manual intensive processes in building a Tesla.
  19. Takes me 1hr 30 min to get from my house to SeaTac. With the New Pane Field in Everett, now 15 min or less to get from my house to that new airport in Everett. Yes, that is true, just makes more sense to have my wife in the past would drive and we would drop the daughter off at work, then go to the airport and she would drive home. Being a morning person, I always get the first flight out in the morning.
  20. Agree, this is one time that GM needs to deliver on all fronts as a broadband strong electrical system would do wonders for all the auto's and the interface of the nav system working with your latest Android or Apple phone.
  21. Do not forget Private auto's. Getting from SeaTac airport to my house is a $125 plus tip in a Yellow Cab, $100 plus tip in an Uber / lyft and cheapest is private car, $75 plus tip. I use the private auto's because the cost is so much cheaper over a traditional taxi or messing with the uber / lyft app stuff.
  22. Had no Idea International Loadstar made single person cab trucks still today. Old Barn Find of a Chevy Pipe Truck
  23. I honestly see no reason to have more than 10-12 models at most. OEMs can easily go with base, sport and performance models, 3 trim lines on a single model and you can tweak the options. MB and BMW went crazy at each other with building models for roles that did not exist nor really I think made business sense. Flush with money makes marketing peeps go crazy.
  24. We'll could not find my name list but will take another stab here: Cars, I would drop the coupe look, go back to having a trunk and make magnetic ride standard on all models with luxury float, sport and V mode for driving and having the suspension deliver what the owner / driver wanted. Power trains would be standard on a V6 with V8 option and Blackwood TTV8 as the top engine choice along with EV versions. Names I would take Cadillac back to them: SUV/Truck Names: Escalade Escalade ESV Escalade EXT - This needs to come back. XT7 = Fleetwood XT6 = Palisade XT5 = Eminence XT4 = End of life, leave this category size to Buick. Car Names: CT6 = Escala CT6 Coupe = Eldorado CT5 = Ciel CT5 Coupe = Calais No need for the CT4, this is a luxury line and compacts belong to Buick and below. All models would have Sport and V editions. That is 10 models with 3 trim levels per auto, all options can be bought at any trim level. Improving the CT6 as with all auto's in my lineup above would have real leather as base or a luxury cloth option on top of additional tiers of leather quality, real wood and the glossy black plastic trim would be a thing of the past. Carbon fiber would only be available as an option on V Sport and standard on V editions. Through out would be LED piping to highlight the feet area and beyond so that you could always find things. Massage chairs, recliners in the back of the car, minimum of 24" of leg room so one could stretch out. So much more Cadillac could do if only they would dream again to be the Standard of the World!
  25. Lovely auto, Cadillac needs to get back to their roots. I loved reading about this 1950 concept: Cadillac exhibited the luxurious Debutante convertible at the 1950 auto show, which was the first Chicago show since 1940. General Motors stated at the time that the $35,000 Debutante was “the most luxurious car ever built by Cadillac.” The exotic interior was upholstered in leopard skins that covered the floor, seats, and portions of the door panels -all highlighted by 24-karat gold plated instrument panels and fittings.
