GMC News: GMC Introduces Refreshed 2020 GMC Acadia
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in GMC Trucks
Considering what MB has done with the G-Wagon for so long, I see no problem with ubber luxury and executive packaged Escalades along with a proper V edition. -

I am enjoying this updated Opera way better than any others so far. Gonna stick it out and see how long before they piss me off again. But for plug-ins I see lots of options for stuff here: https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/ @Drew Dowdell Seems your desire is what others have figured out. Follow this thread to get Grammarly plug-in installed on Opera. https://forums.opera.com/topic/26251/opera-grammarly-extension Use this one as the actual thread https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/install-chrome-extensions/ Let me know how it works for you.

If the 310HP or 323HP in the Camaro can with a Turbo Package get up to 620HP, then the TTV6 should easily beat that and be more than enough for any auto as I am sure they could easily add on another 300HP to the default HP figure. -

If it brings quality with tight fit n finish of new auto's that keeps the name plate alive and not just a cheap ass badge engineered job, I am fine with looking to the GM Buick group in China for inspiration. Hopefully this is BEV3 platform focused EVs for the US market place. -

Electric Dragster, Garlits...
G. David Felt replied to A Horse With No Name's topic in Alternative Fuels & Propulsion
This is also how technology will change and keep racing alive as complexity goes away as simplification takes over for a level playing field. Hopefully we see more young people who can see the fun of racing with the lower cost of electric motors while still being safe enter into the sport. -
Totally expected, I know I did my Son and Daughters Tax refund and it is next to nothing even with their student loan interest and other deductibles, they are only getting a few hundred dollars back. Both my kids have said they are putting it towards bills and will not be buying anything this year like in years past when they would put the bulk towards their debt and still buy something for themselves. I expect the Tax Refund Specials to fall on on their faces and we will not be seeing the spending of tax refunds like in years past. This will long term change the way people spend money and how they handle debt.

Very cool, we Know a few here will down vote it and bash it for how quiet it is, but the speed and torque is amazing. -
Honda News: Honda May Close UK Manufacturing Plant
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Honda
Guess the few trips I made where I did get Euro's and did not use the company credit card, it was always accepted so I never thought about pounds sterling. Thanks, that is interesting. I still think UK is going to hurt long term from withdrawing from the European union. Especially the non-college educated will really hurt I think. -
GMC News: GMC Introduces Refreshed 2020 GMC Acadia

I think the Acadia Typhoon Edition TTV6 would help those looking for a sporty performance based CUV. This gives GMC some Pontiac EXCITEMENT! that would add to the Denali Excitement and AT4 Excitement. I think GM is missing packages that would have the hardcore auto enthusiast talking about their product line. Yes not many would buy a pricey Acadia Typhoon but knowing they have a performance version to go with the Off road version and their ubber on road luxury version would do them well. -

It might be for many people but then when has performance freaks ever said no to HP / Torque even if they have problems getting the wheels to hook up. My point being is that you could take a New 2020 AT4 and with a new exhaust, cold air intake and ECU Tune, get a considerable bump in performance. Then you also have the Turbo kits that can add plenty of bang for the buck fun. GM just needs to offer a Syclone and Typhoon edition of the CUV and Trucks. As you and others have stated, the TT V6 in the CUV lineup and Trucks would do wonders for increased sales. -

Brexit will be the death of jobs and stagnation in UK. People thought it was great to ditch the Euro Union and Euro Dollar and go back to stupid Pounds, stones, etc. history based crap. Welcome to the Global age of jobs and global commerce. UK is going to really hate their near term future as I expect many more manufacturing plants to shut down and move to Europe mainland. UK love of their history as the best way to live will be their death. Both Scotland and Ireland DO NOT want to leave the Union and yet will be forced by UK London stupidity. -

This is awesome and I actually expect this to sell well for them. I see plenty of the ICE version on the roads, I expect people will scoop up the EV version especially here on the west coast.- 8 replies

Good NPR article...
G. David Felt replied to A Horse With No Name's topic in Alternative Fuels & Propulsion
This is awesome read and I totally agree with many things in this write up. Quote: "Electrification, you cannot stop it anymore — it's coming," says Elmer Kades, a managing director with the consulting firm AlixPartners. "We have fantastic growth rates, between 50 and 60 percent on a global level." Electric vehicles are currently a tiny fraction of the car market, which is dominated by internal combustion engines. But many more electric car models will hit showrooms in the next few years, and several factors have analysts convinced that is part of a major transition in the industry. I also totally agree that ICE will be here for some time even as we see a tripling to quadrupling of models available by 2025 and the technology that will bring charging on par with ICE fueling by 2025 to 2030. Quality of City air is becoming a big issue for cities world wide and more cities are looking to ban ICE auto's and delivery trucks and require EVs for the health of everyone and to help quiet down the noise in the cities. GREAT point made is even is 100% of electric auto's were sold today, it would still take 20-25yrs to totally replace all the ICE on the road and even then not everyone will want to give up or convert their old auto's especially among the collector crowd. -

Crazy as I was curious about the 3.6L V6 performance modes and I see you can get for $5,200 a Turbo Kit that can be dialed up to 620HP giving you 11 second quarter mile runs. That is just crazy. http://www.superchevy.com/how-to/engines-drivetrain/1230-performance-mods-for-the-camaro-v6-engine-all-sixed-up/ Yes this is focused on the Camero with that V6, but it seems that tuning kits can get you the following 26HP / 29 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. http://www.kpe-products.com/shop/gm-ecu-tuning/gm-3-6l-di-ecu-tuning-with-module/ Considering that the Camaro is the Highest tuned at 323hp / 278 lb-ft of torque and the Impala is lowest at 300HP / 262 lb-ft of torque. http://gmauthority.com/blog/gm/gm-engines/lfx/ One can imagine that this engine is easily capable of 400hp in a V6 when my 1994 GMC Suburban had 210hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. We have come a long way. -

Yes it was an awesome finish and still exciting as any ICE F1 race. -
Thank you, yes this is the dash I was thinking of and to me very retro with the round dial knobs, the upright flat dash and the after thought nav screen. To me this is retro terrible for a modern 21st century auto.

Very cool, I do love how they can track how much energy each auto has left and far more driving skill involved to capitalize on position and finishing. -
Just saw this on GMC Instagram story and love the black chrome grill. Best looking in a long time. AT4 Rocks!

Chicago 2019: 2020 Subaru Legacy: Comments
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Chicago Auto Show (CAS)
Yet @Drew Dowdell is spot on here, Subaru is the Japanese safe Volvo equal. -
Must be thinking of the aviator that has that after thought Nav screen sitting on top of the vents just sticking up in an odd place and the retro controls below. White Nautilus was going the opposite direction from me on 220th here, so saw it coming and going in the mirror was it. Thanks for posting that pic. That is a much nicer dash than what I had in my head. Your right the berry red seats and trim is nice.

Have to totally disagree with you on the retro style A-class dash starting at a mind numbing $32,995. The spec's show me I can get many superior auto options for that amount of money from US and Asian auto's. Hell what they are asking for is easily out classed by a higher quality CPO.
