Chevrolet News:Corvette C8 Almost Sold Out Already
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Chevrolet
I get what you all say and yes 2 feet, 3 pedals will always challenge humans. Yet there is more to driving than just that and paddle driving brings in a different way of driving is all I am saying and still shifting up and down while driving will always offer challenges along with so many other inputs. -

Agree to disagree, you should try racing someone and see how you drive it and hit redline shifting up and down. Driving takes skill period and to drive a manual or paddle shifting to optimize power, torque and turn in a consistent time, does take skill. -

We have no idea of what cars they will have in the EV role out. Very possible for the Malibu to come out as an EV. -
Chevrolet News:Chevrolet Silverado Diesel Gets 33mpg Highway
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Chevrolet
Based on the GM released info, you can get this in the LT as a $3,890 upgrade. So basic LT is $28,300 according to their web site. 28,300 + $3,890 = $32,190 plus delivery and applicable taxes. Not too shabby for a 33 mpg diesel truck.- 38 replies

Agree, BMW wanted to be more Benze than Benze. Now they are all messed up both MB, BMW and Audi.

Will PA take back over the road then after the company bankrupts?

Chevrolet News:Corvette C8 Almost Sold Out Already
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Chevrolet
@Robert Hall @surreal1272 I honestly would NOT say it is cheaper to do a Manual transmission any longer, but that form of transmission is so inefficient and the lack of interest by the bulk of society to drive a manual with the advent of paddle shifters thanks to F1 driving has moved society to want something that is even faster. I rarely have seen manuals at the drag strip here in washington any more, usually more of an older sports car on open day when folks can drag their auto against anyone. There is also real talent needed if you were to drive a paddle shift corvette just like a manual. I think many who feel you have to have a manual transmission just have not had a chance to really learn to drive paddle shift auto's. I relate this to those that felt putting a manual on the floor was a terrible idea compared to the 3 on the tree design that I first learned to drive on. The more technology changes, the better things get, clinging to the past is how one dies early in the business world. I honestly doubt other than a few I can count on one hand that the bulk of folks here at C&G would want to drive a modern day auto with 3 on the tree or a 4 speed manual especially if you live in a city of hills like San Francisco. -
Never did understand the business case for a privatized road. It goes against what America is about, the culture and the freedom to drive anywhere.

Chevrolet News:Corvette C8 Almost Sold Out Already
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Chevrolet
@Robert Hall @surreal1272 After having searched for and posted the follow up info especially GM's own post about this design from the begining was built with ICE, Hybrid and EV in mind plus with no engine in the front, it left far more room for folks over 6' tall to easily get into and out of, I have to say I am EXCITED ? to actually go and sit in one and maybe even take it for a test drive. If all 6'6" 300 lbs of me can fit, who knows I might just have my first sports car ever. In response to all the aches and pains we have in our body, as a past life body builder and power lifter, my C1 to C6 are bone on bone and I was given two options, fuse and limit my quality of life, or workout and stay strong for life as to why I am a daily work out man in the GYM. I can still ski and pretty much do everything I want as long as I keep my CORE strong. I can tell when I take more than a day off from lifting so for me lifting / cardio is 5 to 6 days a week with a single down day for recovery. I do not plan to ever retire in the baby boomer sense of retirement, but am sure I will have a different type of job by the time I am 70. Hope I can have a sporty ride in those silver years, that would be very cool. I have to say that my favorite corvette was the Stingray from Corvette Summer, the movie 1978. But now I am really liking this C8, grows on me more and more every day. I can understand why it would sell out especially if they end up going hybrid / EV, then these first few ICE models will be real collectors editions. -

Chevrolet News:Corvette C8 Almost Sold Out Already
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Chevrolet
I am fine not everyone wants an EV and there will be those that will die before they ever consider new technology, just a fact of life. In regards to your 20 yr comment, in a country where there has not been supporting infrastructure till the last couple years and where most people drive large size auto's, the much smaller EV's have either been weird in style and design for the bulk of the public, too expensive as is all things when they start out and not really had much incentive. We have had incentives that have gathered the public view, many hobbyist and early new tech adopters have bought and why Tesla still survives and we have major Governments pushing change. So while you and others might view it as company suicide, others once normal looking EVs get on the lots to buy see it as a time to wait and then change over to a better way to drive, use of an auto. If this was the old history of the early 1900's I get it and the electric died for a reason, yet today we have technology and fast changing on our side and I fully expect ICE to be replaced in many use cases within the next 10-20 years. -
Chevrolet News:Corvette C8 Almost Sold Out Already
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Chevrolet
Plenty of threads in this forum where I have not mentioned EVs. Wrong again Bucko, I first brought up the question about I wonder if there would be a hybrid / EV option. Then Drew said he had read somewhere that there would be, I then searched and found from GM to other sites where this new Corvette was created to be an ICE/Hybrid/EV version all on the same platform which GM has confirmed pretty much. Then I found a cool story that I posted after all that of a company that takes the existing C7 bought without the powertrain and makes them an EV. Now you have the proper timeline and what @surreal1272 was commenting about, go ahead and comment on that. Thank you, -

Yet, GM does NOT sell it in the rest of the Asian rim. It would sell and is a perfect size and I agree it is NOT too big, yet with that said, those small asian countries would need to open up to GM selling it there. There is great control over the story of what the local population is told and what works and does not work for them. They sell this that America SUV/CUV are too big and as such, people are lied to and led to believe that is why they cannot sell them there not the truth that the local gov is controlling what they can and cannot buy. The compact CUV's that American auto companies build will fit and sell just fine if they are allowed into those places, Full size trucks and SUV's not so much. -

Here is my thoughts on what I would kill off. I circled them in red. I would think dump those models and bring in a couple modern CUV type auto's as replacements. -

Chevrolet News:Chevy Malibu to die after 2024
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Chevrolet
I would disagree, unlike Asian countries, excluding China, small auto's and cars being the focus will always have a place as SUV/CUV are just too big and expensive. Yet for America, China and Europe, I think we will see a much longer life of the SUV/CUV sticking around. I see the Detroit 3 building some cars and might just be hybrid / electric only for select markets, but the bulk of their global auto's will be SUV/CUV I think. -

Obiwon you seem to have remembered well, seems the frame is more bolted together than welded to allow for hybrid and electrification. Glad to hear this, yet I do wonder what that production number for this year really is. I do wonder how long before GM adds a Hybrid or EV to the Corvette portfolio.
