Amazon just spilled the beans on their Rivian based EV Delivery vans. Cool part is the Rivian platform is very stretchable and depending on the climate of where the van will be used it will either be FWD or AWD and come in lengths equal to regular or extended length delivery ICE vans and even have an extended length version that is more like a Crew cab pickup with 8 foot box length even though it is a van. There will be 3 different batteries used depending on size and climate to insure plenty of power and Alexa will be integrated into the vans. I respect and understand where you are coming from. For a guy my size, this is usually a very appealing auto to me and one that does not scare me to spend $100,000 on. But with that said, this new Escalade even with the awesome updated interior fails to the point that I would NOT want to drive one looking like this. It just blends into the background for me, Lincoln is far more Luxury looking than this. This is Blah just like the Germand CUVs.

I was thinking of the Motus Company that took the Corvett V8 engine as a starting point and created their V4 motor for motorcycles and as a crate motor at 365hp for auto replacements. https://motusmotorcycles.com/americanv4 Pretty interesting engineered engine and your right, it does need a bit more engineering work than my quick response of take the V8 and cut it in half, but this motor I have always liked. Does it have the finger knobs on the back side? My Escalade and SS both have that knobby back side that allows the fingers to have a good grip without gripping hard. As such, when I last drove my old suburban before putting up on blocks I was surprised how much tighter I had to grip the steering wheel.

New Escalade also looks like it is more bunker like with where the crease is on the side body. Not good as too much like the bunker camaro which is a failure.

Now you have my strong opinion of why this Escalade, XT-6 and every other cadillac that uses this same Roman inspired, Chevrolet Headlight style will FAIL for them! This is actually true, they are moving to a global standard as Europe requires pedestrian impact regs that the old weird corner wrap around headlights did not meet. China has also implemented the same pedestrian regs. The US is Failing in leadership as we no longer lead in safety so now the auto industry will follow the stricter European regs that also meet the US. End result is some very piss poor and poorly designed headlights, front ends, etc. IMHO.

Welcome back Horse, you been missed! Same here, when you have either a large tank or a very efficient small auto, you still need to get out and stretch the legs. Half tank is how i do all road trips as I get 500 miles on a tank in my Escalade, so might as well stretch at the 250 mile mark. Then always full tank so no need to worry where the next gas station is when driving in new areas.

Wack a V8 in half and offer a quality V4, no need for those straight 4 bangers!

Yes, this is a Superior headlight assembly and they should have stayed with this. Using the same Chevrolet style on the XT-6 and Escalade cheapens it up. Maybe it is Enchanted for Robert, he will see before us.

Very cool look at the inside of the GM EV1 from the 90's. Use your mouse, click and hold and drag around to see what it was like. Very minimalist like Tesla, but it had push button start, and other electronics was ahead of Tesla, Toyota, etc. Just a shame GM could not see the long game for EVs.

UK originally posted that the country would be tailpipe free by 2040 for new auto purchases. Today they have now released an updated report and where the PM of UK has been compared to President Trump in the US, there is one area that they are planets apart on and that is in regards to Climate Change. PM will roll out all the fine details of their new auto policy plan at COP26 that is being hosted in London. This plan is expected to post the new date of 2035 for the end of all ICE auto sales. An excelerated plan to increase installation of charging pads / plugs around the country as the UK goes EV 100%. The PM is mum but according to reports, this 2035 will also include the end of all Hybrid auto's allowed for sale. Britain has announced all gas and diesel auto sales by 2040 originally, now at COP26 the new date is 2035. Germany has stated they are tentatively looking at 2040, but discussing this with their auto industry to set a firm end date of all ICE auto's. Scottish government has announced all gas and diesel auto sales by 2032. Yes that is true and I am OFFICIALLY on record in past posts that once Rivian or equal full size EVs are out that fit me I will be owning one. Since my newest auto is a 2008 and the oldest is a 1994 Suburban which is in project mode to be converted to electric. I am all for change and will change once auto's are out that I like and fit me and the wife likes. One cannot just change when no options are there yet. Supporting the change is a start to get there eventually. True, there are only a couple folks here that have stated they have or have driven EVs often. Most is that there are not enough options yet that people like and will fit as not all of us are compact or sub compact small. We have electricity and more capacity comes on line all the time especially of green options. As demand increases for EVs, we will see more capacity and especially storage for Solar or wind generation increase so that we have it when needed. Take a look here, updated as of December 2019. Toyota and Panasonic are tying up together with the same kind of deal to produce EV battery packs much like Tesla has done. Tesla has since diversified in signing battery supply agreements with LG and CATL in China. Panasonic has stated that Toyota will own 51% of the new Prime Battery company. The physical shape is the same as Tesla, but the composition is very different according to the companies. Tesla has also indicated it could move forward with building it's own batteries.
