  1. Seems GM is willing to let software companies battle for their right to build the ultimate auto interface versus current GM interface that is across all four brands. As such, GM has NOT currently stated who will build the next generation interface / HUD for Buick or Chevrolet, but they have committed to two companies. Cadillac will have their all new interface, Retina Quality based AR interface with HUD from Envisics https://envisics.com/ https://www.digitaltrends.com/features/envisics-ar-windshield-technology/ https://electrek.co/2020/10/19/gm-cadillac-lyriq-electric-suv-crazy-head-up-display/ GMC will have their new auto interface / HUD built by Epic Games using the unreal engine. https://fossbytes.com/epic-games-to-develop-ui-ux-of-electric-hummer-using-unreal-engine/ https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/gmc-hummer-ev-will-use-fortnites-gaming-platform-epics-unreal-engine/ https://www.cnbc.com/2020/10/20/gms-official-run-for-tesla-starts-with-its-electric-hummer-debut-tuesday-night-.html https://www.bgr.in/gaming/hummer-ev-to-run-on-fortnites-unreal-engine-reveals-epic-games-918745/ https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/gmc-hummer-ev-will-use-fortnites-gaming-platform-epics-unreal-engine/
  2. GM has announced another $2 Billion in investment in their US assembly line plants and that a total of three plants will now be dedicated to building EV's. Investment is as follows: GM said the investment in the six U.S. facilities will total more than $2 billion. Here is how it breaks out: GM will invest $2 billion in Spring Hill Manufacturing to build fully electric vehicles including the Cadillac Lyriq. Spring Hill’s paint and body shops will undergo expansions and the general assembly will be upgraded with new machines, conveyors, controls and tooling. The renovation begins immediately. Production of the next-generation GMC Acadia will move to Lansing Delta Township Assembly, an investment of more than $100 million. GM will invest $32 million at Flint Assembly for future production of heavy-duty Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups. GM will invest $17 million in the Romulus, Michigan, propulsion plant to enhance automation and increase capacity of GM’s 10-speed truck transmission, used in full-size pickups and full-size SUVs. GM will invest $3.5 million at Orion Assembly and invest $750,000 at GM’s site in Brownstown Township. Both investments are related to additional production of the Cruise self-driving test vehicle at Orion Assembly. The three plants that are dedicated EV plants are as follows: Former Detroit Hamtramck assembly center now known as Factory ZERO - Production of Hummer by GMC to start there for EV Trucks / SUV full size. Orion Assembly plant will continue to build the Chevrolet Bolt EV, Next generation version as well as a new Chevrolet EV and the Extended length Bolt EV. Spring Hill Tennessee assembly plant, home of the XT5 & 6 plus Acadia. Will move forward with building the Lyriq upon renovations and continue the XT5 & 6 till EV replacements are ready. Then the plant will be full time Cadillac EV's only. https://www.freep.com/story/money/cars/general-motors/2020/10/20/gm-invest-billions-michigan-plants-converts-another-plant-ev/5983749002/

  4. The Primes will be great for Uber/Lyft if they survive the Pandemic. The Rav4 Prime makes more sense than this tight car IMHO.
  5. So many comments could be made and so many observations about the people. Yes some good ol truck fun with plenty of backsides to enjoy!
  6. I would sure like to know why the Toyota was going full speed across the divider?
  7. Check out their real world version of their AR HUD rather than that crazy everything in the sky version that was in the story. Have to say it looks good when you look at what they are more realistic about. https://www.digitaltrends.com/features/envisics-ar-windshield-technology/ https://envisics.com/ Envisics has investment from Hyundai, GM, SAIC and Van Tuyl all of who have committed to using their Retina Grade AR HUD system in their EVs. ICE is already lost, ICE Racing is still cool, I think as we get solid state batteries that can handle Rapid 800V or higher recharging, we will see EV racing take off more too. Course she is very attractive too!
  8. Totally agree, as more people drive them and experience the Torque they will change to liking Hybrids / EVs.

  18. Magna International has purchased a stake of up to 6% or $3 Billion in Fisker and will be the official builder of the Fisker EV SUV. Magna of Canada is the first known contract manufacturing of an EV and will build the Ocean SUV for the European market in their Graz Austria plant. The Ocean Fiskar SUV will start at $37,499 and have a 3rd row seating option. Production will begin in November 2022 for a 2023 availability. 19. EV News of the day: Foxconn, the maker of iPhone has released their EV chassis system for those wanting to build their own EV's. Foxconn says they plan to have 10% of the global market by 2025. Foxconn also announced they will move from traditional battery packs available now to solid state in 2024. Foxconn is currently a battery supplier to Tesla in China. https://www.autoblog.com/2020/10/16/foxconn-ev-plans/ BMW/Mini is recalling ALL 2020 PHEV models. To quote the story the following is the recall list, a voluntary recall which is weird when it is a fire risk. BMW is not clarifying what in the assembly by BMW of the battery pack is causing the fires, but they expect to begin repairs on the 26,700 PHEV's they manufactured between January 20th and September 28th 2020 https://www.autoblog.com/2020/10/16/bmi-mini-phev-recall-fire-risk/ QUOTE: The list of cars affected by this voluntary recall includes 2020 and 2021 examples of the 530e, the X3 xDrive30e, and the Mini Countryman SE, coupe and convertible variants of the 2020 i8, as well as the 330e (pictured), the 745Le xDrive, and the X5 xDrive45e from the 2021 model year. All are equipped with a lithium-ion battery pack whose cells might have been contaminated by debris during the manufacturing process, according to a recall notice issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
