  1. Never knew they tried to do this. What is this?
  2. Canoo is an EV startup that in 2019 showed to the world a subscription service auto called the Life Style Vehicle. This EV had a center based driving position and to some reminded people of the VW Microbus. Fast forward a few years and Canoo is now a publicly traded company that has considerable patents on EV powertrain and other components and under a new CEO had up to today two products planned that the public knew about. The Canoo LifeStyle auto pictured above and their MPDV or Multi-Purpose Delivery Vehicle pictured below. An unknown source leaked on Reddit that Canoo was planning to enter the lucrative and highly competitive North American truck market. As such Canoo has confirmed and released a press release about their new Lifestyle Pickup truck. According to Canoo, this truck will be the perfect work truck as it will feature a powered workbench, tool storage along with a modular expandable bed and more. Press Release Quote: Pull-out Bed Extension: The pickup truck bed is six feet long and can extend to a fully enclosed eight feet, allowing big items such as a 4 by 8 ft sheet of plywood to easily fit inside. The pull-handle bed extension also helps with loading and unloading the truck. The extension also serves as a license plate holder. When the bed is extended, a second layer of tailgate doors can be swiveled out. The bed-extension also houses a secondary lamp, containing all tail lamp functions, so the truck can be driven while the bed space is maximized. Fold Down Worktable + Cargo Storage: To offer the greatest customer utility, the pickup features a front cargo storage area that can hold tools or gear, also includes a fold down worktable with electrical outlets. The workstation table is extendable to allow customers to have maximized work surface on the go, in addition to providing an area to put on gear before heading out exploring. Flip-Down Side Tables: Both sides of the vehicle house a flip down table in two expandable depths. Built into the side panel of the truck bed, the flip-down side table becomes a workbench with multi-functional power sources in close proximity. Side Step + Storage: On the side of the vehicle there is a hidden step to allow quick and easy access to the truck bed. Underneath the step is a flexible storage area for items including: a first-aid kit, cooler for snacks and drinks, lockable laptop storage and more. This space efficient feature is only possible due to Canoo’s ultra-flat platform. Modular Bed with Space Dividers: The truck bed is modular with the use of Canoo’s space divider system designed to keep items separate and secure. The bed wall also incorporates modular wheel chocks to secure bikes and configurable tie downs for ladders, large equipment and other materials. Multi-Accessory Charge Port: The pickup truck can double as a powerplant with exportable power accessible on all sides of the vehicle. Power can last all day for tools and devices, with as little as 10% impact on vehicle range. Integrated Overhead + Bed Perimeter Lighting: The third break light doubles as an overhead light to see inside the cargo bed at night. The vehicle is also equipped with perimeter lighting on all sides of the bed wall for added visibility. Roof Rack: The pickup truck has optional roof racks in variable sizes for added cargo storage. The roof rack is easily accessible from the flatbed or via the sidestep. Camper Shell: The pickup truck has been designed to accommodate a variety of camper shells to fit as many use cases as possible. Canoo's Pickup Lifestyle vehicle will have the following specifications: Dual (AWD) or rear motor configurations Up to 600HP and 550 lb-ft of Torque with Dual Motors Payload capacity of 1,800 lbs 200+ battery range as default with longer range options. 4. My 1994 GMC suburban I had the 350 pulled and bored out to a 402 with a stroker crank, custom chip and that baby fly's. So true, an awesome engine to make into a sleeper.
  5. Was it? I honestly do not remember. Need to go back and watch the hulk movies.
  6. Very cool taking the DMC back to the future with a proper Conversion. Awesome video on the True new Delorean as they move to EV versions. They still support the existing Delorean and you see all the parts, engines, etc. But the new Delorean is an EV, Awesome EV.
  7. Awesome EV Conversion of an old truck. Cool save of an old car with conversion to the future.
  8. Have you actually sat in the back of a Bolt? there is more room than you realize and my leg was inside. Tight but not impossible for me to sit in for short trips.
  9. Yes you just keep on denning the future and enjoy living in the past. Please post a picture of you in a Bolt and your kids in back showing leg room, head room, etc. I actually was able to get in and still sit in the back as there is more room than your stating. Yes not roomy like my Escalade, but it is not as bad as you think. Tesla interior room is worse than the Chevy bolt. Once the front seat is set for us tall guys, you have maybe 3 inches of leg room between the bottom cushion and the back of the front seat making it impossible except for a baby seat for anything to be behind the front passenger. On top of this due to the crazy stupid rake of the front windshield much like the stupid rake on Mazda's CUVs, most people hit their head getting into a tesla, at least I did not have this problem getting into the Bolt. Far more roomy than Tesla and at least for a subcompact which I cannot fit into in the ICE world, I can in the EV world.
  10. Yes it is a stock trade but as the story also points out, was there favoritism give by the head of the USPS to Oshkosh when other companies were expected to win the contract and a focus is on what is seen as a 30 year continuation of fossil fuels at a time that EVs make more sense for the last mile delivery over ice. Here is what Reuters had on the bill to support changing over the government to EVs. U.S. lawmakers propose giving USPS $6 billion for electric delivery vehicles | Reuters This one just includes a little more info about the unusual stock trading that went on just before the announcement. U.S. lawmakers propose giving USPS $6 billion for electric delivery vehicles | Reuters Either way, clearly the contract is going to be looked at, stock trades will be looked at and changes could be happening.
  11. Game is a foot as Oshkosh is now to be investigated due to a day before the USPS announcement, a $54.2 million purchase of Oshkosh stock was purchased after hours. This is more than an average daily transaction of their stock. On top of this, a bill has been introduced to fund a $6 billion dollar purchase of clean energy EV auto's for the USPS and 75% must be pure EV rather than the 10% stated in the Oshkosh contract. Clearly Workhorse which is who was expected to win the contract is not out yet as legal / political maneuvering moves forward. Charged EVs | Is Workhorse still in the game? Lawmakers investigate Oshkosh trades, introduce bill to fund US Postal Service electrification - Charged EVs
  12. Breaking News Kia releases first teaser image of their all new EV6 300 mile CUV due late 2021. This is their first on the all new E-GMP electric platform. This is the first of the planned 7 dedicated EV models replacing ICE models by 2027. Kia EV6 electric car: Teaser photos for 300-mile EV due by late 2021 (greencarreports.com) Hyundai has finally released the Tucson Hybrid and plug-in hybrid info for the AWD auto that will compete against the RAV4 and CR-V later this year. Basic AWD standard model will start at $30,235 and the top of the line will start at $38,535. Range is stated to be about 485 miles on a tank of fuel for these hybrids competing on MPG with the Toyota and Honda CUVs. 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid pricing parallels RAV4 and CR-V (greencarreports.com)
  13. Thanks as when I did a quick look I only saw the mentioned bed. I see if I had gone into the configuration you have two options, the 5'2" or 6'2" bed.
  14. Here are the two pictures I had taken by the folks working the booth at the autoshow of me in the Bolt. First is the front set for me. Second is me in the back seat with the front seat set for me. Third is how it looks of me looking down at the steering wheel. No Bullshit, I do fit in the Chevrolet Bolt.
  15. Crazy, nice guy, but wow, so the cops cannot catch up to the truck. I think they need hellcats!
  16. Lucky for me, Washington state requires burn tagging of wood source and chemicals. The pallets began as trees in Washington, cut down, sent to Korea, created into pallets that were used to ship stainless steel back to this company. Over all for a couple tables, should be good as I will sand it all down after creating them. Will update you all with some pictures once I get going on the project.
  17. Wood Prices are crazy and as such, my wife spotted these 5 pallets of which 4 of them were 4x6 based, 12ft long and one is a 8ft pallet. Will use this to build her a couple of tables for the backyard.
  18. Did any Chinese BEV exist before 2015? ? Nope we know they did not.
  19. At 6'6" tall I can have the front seat set for me and still get in the back fine. Yes I would not want to do it for long trips, but big people can fit in the bolt compared to so many other sub compacts that they cannot fit in. Did you press the Sport Button? That takes a full second off the 0 to 60 time and makes all launches from a stop fun. I honestly did not have the bogging feeling on the regen. I wonder if his needs to be reset as for me it was a smooth but fast slow down or in lowest setting a much more traditional long brake to a stop. I found the highest regen setting was very much like Tesla regen, noticeable and quick to a stop to maximize power recovery. Medium setting was noticeable that regen was on but longer in coming to a stop. For the wife and I the lowest regen setting was like how a normal person brakes to us.
  20. They market has only voted about the current options, they never had a small bed in a full size truck like 4.5. The closest we have had is the history of the Chevrolet Avalanche and the Escalade EXT which is a 5'3" bed. We also have never had an EV option, so it will be interesting to see how Rivian does as well as Hummer. Currently Hummer is sold out through 2024, Rivian is sold out through2023, so we are in interesting times. Chevrolet Avalanche Cadillac Escalade EXT Auto Trader for a 300 mile radius for Chevrolet and GMC 1/2 ton pickups had the following available. 880in the 70-79" size for bed.
  21. Yes, this proves that the bulk of truck buyers are not buying the mid or full length beds. I stand by believing that most truck buyers will be fine with a short bed of 4 1/2 ft or 5ft beds.
  22. Totally agree the south of france or pretty much any place outside the cities around vineyards is amazing.
