UBS has stated to forget the Chinese as their EV companies while still growing and will compete to a point will not be a top EV global sellar. UBS states that Tesla and VW will be the top two Global EV auto sellars by 2025. Forget Nio and XPeng. This company and Tesla will be the top two electric-vehicle plays by 2025, says UBS. (msn.com)

Motor1 has a great story on the C8 SuperVette. 1978 the Lambroghini Countach showed up with a 345mm or 13.5 inch wide tire. Current standard C8 Tire is 305 mm To quote why they need these big wide tires: Even with wide tires and rear-biased weight distribution, we suspect the new Z06 will still be traction-challenged. That's because a road-going version of the 5.5-liter DOHC V8 used in the C8.R is expected to arrive under the engine cover. The flat-plane-crankshaft mill will reportedly redline at 9,000 RPM and develop between 600 and 650 horsepower (447 and 485 kilowatts) in the process, but the tire torturing won't stop there. The next ZR1 will reportedly add turbochargers to this engine for 850 hp (634 kW), and of course, we have the Zora hybrid that could top 1,000 hp (746 kW). We still expect to see the new C8 Z06 debut later this year as a 2022 model. C8 Corvette Z06 Spied Wearing Massive Countach-Sized Rear Tires (motor1.com)

Only 495 hp 473 lb-ft of torque LS3 Long block motor is not street legal, but a racing motor only. LS376/480 Crate Engine: 19369333 | Performance (chevrolet.com) Cheapest price from a GM dealer was $9,758.40 Engine (REPLACES PART NUMBER 19369338) 19370413 | GMPartsDirect.com From a 3rd party reseller was Summit @ $8,175.63 Chevrolet Performance 19369333 (summitracing.com) All state this is a racing motor only, not street legal and you still need a controller chip and harness not included. If you want a drop in and ready motor your over $10K if your able to install it yourself. GM prices on ICE have all increased including their blocks only for your own build up. Crate Engines: Classic, Race, and Project Cars | Performance (chevrolet.com) Yes, right now ICE is still a bit cheaper for those on a tight budget, but for those that want change, want something different and want less maintenance, the days of rebuilding an old auto with a modern EV power train are coming. Right now for the wealthy and those willing to pay up which is why EV West and other companies exist. But Soon even OEMs are going to have plug n play for conversion of ICE to EV. GM and Ford have committed to this. Best part is for those that have a loved full size truck or SUV and have decided to spend some money and want less maintenance by going EV, this is a great way to go. I can easily see changing my 1994 GMC Suburban I have in storage to EV with this as it keeps everything except the ICE components. EDIT: Thinking on this, I am really starting to love this idea. 670 Double rear motor with Torque vectoring and Magna has a 160kW (215)hp front end electric motor with steering. Total of 885HP AWD for the suburban. That gives me a HUGE FRUNK!

I can see this as an excellent 3rd party sold item for folks wanting to custom convert their own full size truck or SUV to electric. I have also reached out to Magna to clarify if the 120 / 250 kW power is available on each of the 3 variants? If so then that torque vectoring dual motor combo at 250 kW per motor would be a total 670 hp on the rear axel alone. Add in a motor from them on the front axel and you have an awesome powerful 4WD full size truck or SUV.

Magna's eBeam technology announcement today aims to reduce the cost of building a new EV or electrical vehicles platform. The costs associated with a new platform to move to electrification from a traditional ICE is slowing down the ability to get product to market. Magna's eBeam technology is focusing on allowing to keep the existing pickup trucks capabilities while transitioning to electrification. This is the first significant solid beam rear axle change in more than 100 years according to Magna. Magna's eBeam technology is scalable giving auto makers the ability to electrify their trucks without sacrificing utility and functionality. eBeam technology can be integrated with a battery for pure BEV or connected to a Hybrid system thus supporting high-payload vehicles and matching continuous-duty power usage. This technology supports existing breaking and suspension systems giving auto makers a quick way to electrify their trucks and preserving towing and payload capabilities. Magna's eBeam family comes in power choice of 120 kW (161hp) and 250 kW (335hp) and allows three variants. Single motor, single speed Single motor, two speeds Twin motor, single speed including torque vectoring Magna has additional powertrain solutions for the front of the truck to support electric 4WD that includes software and controls for a seamless integration. gm by Mid-Decade Plans 60% Reduction in Battery Cost
G. David Felt posted an article in General Motors
Generation 2 of the Ultium batteries have already undergone 150,000 simulated test miles at the Global Technical Center in Warren Michigan. To accelerate the move to an all EV portfolio, gm is working with several innovative companies and making investments in said companies to ramp quickly in scaling battery production. 2015 was the start of working together and gm will now take it to the next level with the next generation of Ultium batteries. This agreement with SES will include building a manufacturing prototyping line in Woburn Massachusetts for high-capacity, pre-production batteries by 2023. To quote GM President Reuss: “Affordability and range are two major barriers to mass EV adoption,” said Reuss. “With this next-generation Ultium chemistry, we believe we’re on the cusp of a once-in-a-generation improvement in energy density and cost. There’s even more room to improve in both categories, and we intend to innovate faster than any other company in this space.” Just one year after the Ultium platform reveal, the rapid technical progress is making it possible to upgrade battery packs as gm has been granted 49 patent and 45 patents pending. Yes for allot of people the Rav4 Hybrid is an outstanding solution. I think GM should have made the Equinox and Terrain with the Gen 2 Volt system and sold a butt load of them. -

gm Breaking news: According to Dan Flores, a gm spokesman, GM and LG is exploring building another $2.2 billion dollar battery production plant in Spring Hill Tennessee in support of GM going all electric by 2035 as Battery supply will be a critical part of this plan. LG Senior VP Chang would only confirm that they are under discussions with GM and Tennessee for a possible expansion in Battery production there. LG did confirm that they will be expanding battery production across the US for various Global Manufacturers. Thinking is also that you could see battery production plants being built or existing under utilized factories being converted to battery production in support of auto production to minimize transportation of battery packs. An example is Holland Michigan where LG already has a plant that could be expanded to built Ultium batteries for GM or battery packs for other auto companies in the area. Wow, nope never saw them, so this is kinda cool in a weird way.

I never get that from the video that you seem to sense. It is an auto for everyone, everyday. Yes that front panel clearly would need to be built a bit stiffer. I guess that is the difference between NJ and Washington as they used examples, not saying it is only for specific people. Immigrants is all of us except the native Indians of this country.

I agree I do wonder about the price point of the delivery van. I really like the thinking on this truck. Will be interesting to see what comes out as they seem to be talking of actual test mules later this year according to other press releases on the web site. Would be cool to have lite weight inner doors so you can enclose the full 4x8 sheet area they have to have the added safety. I like that they designed it as a cab forward style truck.
