  1. I have no idea, other than the growth of this area has really pushed up prices in the greater Seattle Area. I do know that the local governments are getting crazy stupid with permits. Have to replace some of my fence in the back yard, just rotted out and a tree branch fell and took it out during winter. The local city had in their latest news letter a reminder to all city citizens that permits are required for all work around your house. They had listed $150 for fence permit. WTF, WHY do I have to pay you to replacement fence with a new one. Nope not gonna happen, will do it myself this summer and I am not paying their robbery. In the quote, Hot water Tank permit was $250.00 This is so crazy that I had to laugh at it. I have decided I am going to hold off and will end up replacing the tank my self with one bought from Home Depot. The price is just crazy stupid, will have my son help me with the project and then take the tank up to a recycler. Bummer about your frozen pipe, yes, pipes bursting suck., glad the mess was not too bad. Finished getting caught up on work email, off to clean and sanitize.
  2. Was cleaning / sanitizing till late last night, clean up and then had to do some work till 1 am. slept and back up, getting some work done before I continue my cleanup. Still no quote yet from the plumber for the repair. Did get a quote for a 50 gallon hot water tank replacement and WOW is that pricey now, $3,512.49 This gets me a 6yr 50 gallon hot water tank, 2 gallon thermal expansion tank, repair of copper water lines, code compliant natural gas water heart stand with drip pan. My tank is 10 years old and starting to have rust color in the hot water you get from the tap. I am thinking they will send me a quote for about $25 to 30K large for this sewer line repair.
  3. On a Red Hot Chili Kick as I get caught up on work after cleaning up my sewer backup problem.
  4. Really good 6 month review of real world charging of a Tesla. Costs compared to estimated fuel cost for ICE and actual EV charging home and road costs. Very impressive. An outstanding comparison of costs for all EVs currently on the market. Compare Electric Cars: EV Range, Specs, Pricing & More (insideevs.com) The charts alone are very worth while to look at and see a decent comparison on details that I have not found elsewhere. Great comparison charts. I have been seriously thinking about adding dash cams to my auto's to protect my family from the idiots that get licenses and have no real business driving as they cannot even seem to understand how to drive. It is a privilege earned and not a right, as such, I am very impressed with the Tesla dash cams that have captured some incredible accidents.
  5. WOW, Crazy Train Derailment in Illinois.
  6. 4K camera run, saw it, all cement a very weird zig zag from 4" to 6" city says it is on my property, my problem. The plumber says once they replace the connection point, they can do like they did on the 4" by lining the 6" out to the street so I should never have a problem again. would be a sealed lined pipe then. Awaiting the scary damage price as I expect it to be 5 figures.
  7. ? Today has been a nightmare. February 19th 2019 during a freezing snowing night here, my wife went downstairs to do laundry and yelled that water was coming up out of the floor drain. Discovered that the server line on our house being 67 years old had failed. We repaired it to what I thought was the city line. Connection of where our 4" line connects to the bigger 6" city line and into the main sewer line. Expensive repair. Today, mid morning, went to leave for a Dr. appointment and discovered the laundry room was flooded with sewage. Used my shop vac and clean up the worst of it, cleaned myself up again and left for my appointment. Called the plumbing company that did the work to come out and figure out why I was backed up. At 69 years of age, discovered that the connection point from 4" to 6" has failed. Worse yet is the city says that connection being on my property is my responsibility as they only go up to the property line. So now awaiting quotes for repairing it. Been told to gently use the toilets till they fix it. Totally unexpected large expenses kill getting ahead in life.
  8. Yes, I have coworkers who live in North Carolina and have said they have never seen it like this. One said the shortage and long lines is what his father said the mid 70's were like which I do remember the long waits in line for a set amount of fuel. Crazy, so glad I do not have to deal with it here as I just filled up both the SS and Escalade for $100. In other news, crazy to see a major bridge beam totally split in two. Look at the Terrifying Cracked Beam That Shut Down the Vital I-40 Bridge Indefinitely (msn.com) For me and Not trying to be political, but we really need the $2 trillion dollar infrastructure spending to rebuild the US Roads / bridges more than we need $36 million dollar fighter jets that are a failure or more ships, etc. We need to re-invest in our country.
  9. Seems gm has an official recycler for all left over material and battery packs that need to be properly recycled. Ultium battery cells from GM electric vehicles have an official recycler: Canada's Li-Cycle (greencarreports.com)

  15. WOW, Ransomware on the stupid gas supplying line owned by Colonial Pipeline operations that deliver 45% of all gas supplies to the Greater SouthEast of the country has caused people to go stupid. Gas shortage, rationing and stupid fights. A woman in a new Honda hits an auto for not letting her cut in line at Marathon gas station and then they end up fighting each other. https://www.instagram.com/p/COvyhm7nu8N/ WOW, People really get stupid. Why would you want to damage your auto let alone spit on another person and then he was an idiot for getting out to fight her. Both deserved the arrest they got.
  16. That is too funny, pretty accurate of life be you one to believe in religion or not. Thanks for posting an accurate portrayal of life!
  17. WOW, R.I.P. An amazing life for sure, sad to have lost it due to extreme weather, but he lived his life on his terms doing what he loved. Thanks for sharing.
  18. Keep in mind that they have shown this to commercial and government groups already who were excited by what they saw and what ever pricing was stated for work trucks. Most work trucks are rubber floor mats, not carpet and hard plastic everywhere. If they start out at the entry level RWD range it is understandable. Makes sense to have the longest range on the least demand motor setup being RWD but also having AWD as an option. AWD with 400 miles is still impressive, getting 450 to 500 miles for RWD is fantastic. I would like to know what the real range is for under load in the bed and or hauling a trailer for the RWD/AWD truck with the full battery pack. Tesla like everyone takes a hit when it comes to hauling stuff / trailering. I see the following for Tesla Tesla Y RWD at 303 miles or AWD at 326 miles, but big difference in battery pack size between those two. Tesla 3 Long Range AWD 353 miles Tesla 3 Performance AWD 315 miles Tesla 3 Standard 263 miles RWD Tesla S Long Range AWD 412 miles Tesla S Plaid AWD 390 miles Tesla X Long Range AWD 360 miles Tesla X Plaid AWD 340 miles Based on this post, all Tesla 3 auto's come with a 82 kWh battery pack, you pay to unlock more range. 2021 Tesla Model 3 Has An 82 kWh Battery Pack: Document Reveals (fossbytes.com) Stories like this of people having the technical ability to scan their own Tesla Y would imply also it has the 82 kWh battery pack. 2021 model Y scan my Tesla battery size | Tesla Motors Club Weird that no where does any actual size spec for the Tesla S or X show up, just miles. Even in this detailed story with talking to Tesla, they do not want to talk about the actual battery size. Tesla new Model S/X refresh: 12 new features yet to be announced - Electrek Seems weird that Tesla web site would not be up front and honest about the actual battery pack sizes. I so hate the Tesla web site for the design and clearly slight of hand look here and not there and ignore the man behind the green curtain. Two things, Tesla has simplified their offering and is focusing in on AWD offering only. Seems the battery packs are also possibly being made in one size with only so much being unlocked since they offer a battery software upgrade to increase range. Makes one think they might all have the same size battery pack and then software limited to a much reduced range. Either way, I am very much excited to see what the affordable Silverado EV Truck looks like and is priced at.
  19. According to CEO Mary of gm, the Chevrolet Silverado EV will be focused on affordability. With that in mind, green car reports that during the quarterly financial call last week, Mary stated that they had a private viewing of select commercial and various governments from city, county, state and federal that got a sneak peak of the Chevrolet EV Silverado interior and exterior. Quote: “We gave a small number of them a sneak peek at the interior and exterior design. They said it exceeded their high expectations with zero emissions, long range, pickup capability, innovative storage, and strong value, along with a powerful design.” The truck was teased last year during their EV media show. Green Car which was present at the media event says they see design nods to the Former Chevrolet Avalanche in the BEV Silverado. Mary confirmed that in some of the Build combinations, the BEV Silverado will exceed 400 miles of range. I have to think that as a RWD only BEV Pickup with such a large battery pack, you can easily hit 450 to 500 miles of range over an AWD version. GM CEO: Chevy Silverado EV will be “a high-volume entry” affordable for fleets (greencarreports.com)
  20. Yes, I stopped and took pictures and then have my camera setup on the dash in front of me so very easy to click a picture as I drive.
  21. This weekend we had the opening for the North Cascade Highway. Wife and I always do the drive when it first opens. A total of 529 miles from our house North up I5 to Burlington, then East to Lake Diablo and then over the pass to the town of Winthrop, then on to Lake Chelan, Leavenworth and then up and over Hwy 2 (Steven's Pass) and back home. Left at 6am, returned home at 4:34pm. Not a bad road trip. Had drinks and food in the auto, but did stop for a bathroom break at Winthrop and the chocolate shop, got a snack at the Cider Bar in Lake Chelan of Zucchini Fries and then at the Heidelberg food stand for what we think is some of the best juicy chicken strips and deep fried mushrooms. All was very clean and social distant with masks. Good safe relaxing day. If your interested in what it looks like, I took 61 photos of the drive. Chocolate shop in Winthrop is awesome if you love chocolate. Lake Diablo North Cascade Highway (HWY 20) Washington State - Cheers and Gears Love the remodel, that is AWESOME! Look forward to the finished pictures.
  22. This is considered one of the top 10 drives in the US. It closes when snow starts coming down late fall due to avalanches and reopens at various times in the spring depending on the winter snow fall. An amazing loop from Seattle north on I5 to Burlington, then east on Hwy 20 to Lake Diablo, then continue east to the Town of Winthrop Washington going over the Liberty Bell Pass. From Winthrop you drive through the little town of Twisp, Carlton down to HWY 97 South to Starr. Continue south till you hit the sign that says Lake Chelan HWY 150. This takes you to the town and the lake. Lots of Wineries. You can then take the Alternative 97 on the south side of the lake to Winesap and then south to Entiat down to Wenatchee. From here you take HWY 2 to Sunnyslope, Cashmere and into Leavenworth and then back up over the mountain pass and back to Seattle.
