  1. Did you see where the Mach-E controller for the motors is only $253.50 cents from a Dealer in Texas. Randomly looking online, wiring, connectors, etc. are cheap. The biggest cost is going to be in the battery pack as always. Currently at the same Texas Dealership the GT battery pack that is in this F-100 is $22,230.01 Battery & battery assemblies. High voltage.. 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E | North Park Lincoln, San Antonio TX (nplincoln.com) Yet this same battery pack on Cheaperfordparts.com is $18,000.00 Cost are becoming on par between ICE to electric. The battery pack still being the biggest cost and those costs are coming down. If we do a proper comparison, a single 460HP motor at $9,500 or dual motors at $7,800 with 562HP / 634 lb-ft of torque in AWD. I would take AWD over the RWD every day. Throw in the $253 controller for the motors, some wiring and yes even the $22K battery pack installed and your still competing with a 5 digit conversion price of the ICE system. ICE might be about $10K lower than Electric, but to each their own, some will want the electric such as me over an ICE solution and as long as I hold onto my auto's, this becomes cheaper and cheaper every day.
  2. And your comparison is totally WRONG! There is no way that you can take a $9,500 V8 motor and drop it in that Mustang and be on the road for $12,500 Labor and other hardware needed to properly work is still boosting it up much higher than you are stating. Motor swaps like this at a licensed garage are costing much more. Electrical Motor in AWD is $7,800 for the two motors giving you way more performance than the Coyote motor. You still need the proper wiring harness, chip, exhaust connection, transmission connections, brakes and more and the cost, labor miscellaneous cost will have you more in the $25K to $30K easily for that Coyote swap. 99% of people DO NOT do their own swaps like you. If they wanted that Coyote swap, they will go to a garage and have all the same added costs that an electric swap will cost. The two pictures posted in the story is the electric motors.
  3. The pricing still is cheaper than current equal performance ICE motors and the labor to have it installed and setup. Same thing with ICE, take a $7,500 auto, put in a $25K ICE motor and still have to have a new wiring harness, chip and any other mechanical changes and that ICE auto will still only be worth the $57K. This is no difference than your lovely 1964 Pontiac. Still not worth the money that one puts into it. Restoration is a labor of love to those that CHOOSE to restore the auto. I see every Friday at the local Taco Time here a ton of old auto's that have been restored and clearly they would not sell for anywhere near the money put into them for that ICE auto. It is choices and right now going electrical is clearly cheaper in everything other than the battery pack which costs are dropping yearly on. I also can see this and if Ford put's together a Connect and Cruise package like GM has been doing and has stated they will do with their electric motors so that you have a complete package of motors, controllers, wiring and battery pack, this makes converting / restoration of an older auto with a 21st century powertrain awesome.

  12. @surreal1272 @Robert Hall Yes @smk4565 goes off the rails on his punch drunk love of Mercedes, but then others do it for other brands and he seems to be a lost soul on F1 racing when his beloved mistress cannot even deliver their fabled AMG One F1 street legal auto and are falling behind in the Hybrid/EV race based on delays and especially current financial reporting that shows the German brands have LOST market share due to the global chip shortage. Loosing market share in China to the Chinese Pirate auto companies hurts and we will see where it ends up. Occasionally @smk4565 makes some decent posts and we are in a Democracy where all can freely speak their mind.   14. Yes that is true, but after you just spent $100,000 or more for your Luxury SUV, would you want it majorly disassembled and re-assembled? Not me, give me a complete new one.
  15. So found out the back story on this. A new 2021 Escalade ESV was sold, the frame on the new auto had a major defect. GM is paying the dealership to replace the frame on the auto, a 4 to 6 week job according to my service tech. Hello GM, give them a new Escalade and take the defective one back. I would not want a brand new full Size SUV to be torn down and rebuilt onto a new frame. that is just crazy.
  16. At my local Cadillac dealership, getting an oil change on the Escalade. Seems to have become a once a year thing now that I work from home. Interesting observation for what is one of the largest dealerships in Washington state. ZERO New Escalade's in stock, 2 used. ZERO New XT's in stock. Signage saying pre-orders being taken. 1 New CT4 and 2 New CT5 V editions in stock. A hand full of lower trim CT 4 &5 cars. Interesting is they have a new frame delivered and Waiting to be installed on an Escalade. Why stored upside down I think rather than on the delivery legs?

  18. I doubt the pool of data was very big as I know way too many people that want full size trucks and SUVs which Tesla does not have. Once the production spigot at Ford, GM and Rivian get going full speed, I doubt Tesla will have this title. Plus if this was so true then why is there like 50 plus Tesla at the local tesla lot by me. They should be out of stock or at least very thin like other dealers.
  19. Yes with the VOLT, the ICE was only a generator is my understanding also. Should have had the power train put into an Equinox size auto. I totally agree with you that the CT-6 PHEV was a big mistake to make and kill off as it was originally for the Chinese market, but everything I have searched on it now seems to show a very positive attitude about the auto. Seems the ct6 lives on in China, PHEV died in 2020! Now they just show the coming Lyriq EV. As such, the Borla exhaust is the same as found on the Corvette. I am more than willing to have a discussion on it, not a problem stepping out of the bubble. I have gone down the discussion path here before with those that think open pipes is a safety feature for motorcycles and there is not enough research to prove it does or does not help. There is plenty of research that shows the open pipes noise level is way above what is science proven to damage ones hearing, so I go with that.

No aftermarket exhaust, the one on there is what came with the SS from the Factory top be clear and I stand by my observation that the noise of open pipes on motorcycles has not saved lives, but probably caused accidents by startled drivers, pedestrians and bike riders alike. There is a reason for sound decibel laws and the science that has proven how loud can damage your hearing. I find nothing to change that on folks that ignore the science and go with a ear drum damaging open pipe. We agree to disagree.
  21. Yes an auto roar is very different than ear drum splitting open pipe noise. I still have a very solid muffler with a rumble that you can hear and does not hurt the ears. Overly Loud Open Pipes I have seen more people get freaked out of when a rider fly's by with that noise and you do not get directionality with it in an inner city where the loud noise bounces off the buildings. I have yet to read anything that says open pipes are safer for motorcycle riders.
