  1. Seems some battery companies are focused on offering a superior battery pack for Tesla owners and as such, the following company Our Next Energy (ONE) company has a battery pack that gives the Tesla S a 752 mile range.
  2. Yes agree, this is a great start for a solid entry level EV. I posted about it here:
  3. GM CEO and Keynote presenter Mary Barra outlined the wave of change that is coming as society moves towards mass adoption of electric vehicles and how GM has transitioned from a basic automaker to a platform innovator, providing key Electric technology across a wide platform of uses more than just automobiles. Per GMs global chief marketing officer, Deborah Wahl, and I quote: “Technology driven by purpose will change the world,” “GM is redefining how people and goods are moved. Our commitment to a vision of a world with zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion has positioned us to lead. As we implement our growth strategy, we have an opportunity and, frankly, an obligation to create a better future for generations to come. That’s the Ultium Effect.” One can check out GMs Exhibit Zero here: Countdown Until GM Exhibit Zero: A Virtual Experience Marry discussed how the "Ultium Effect" has allowed GM to take from idea to production in what has been considered some of the fastest changes in the auto industry. This Ultium Effect underpins the GMC Hummer EV Truck and Brightdrop EV600 both in delivery to customers now as production ramps up. This Ultium platform will also underpin the soon to be released Cadillac LYRIQ, Chevrolet Silverado and Equinox EVs. 5. That is the problem, they have them in ads in the papers and on the web at times, when you arrive to look at the auto, they show you one with an AMV sticker on it. Yes, you have pointed out all types of various ways to wiggle out of honoring their advertisement, but that is the problem of connecting what they put on TV, Newspapers and web to what you experience on the dealer lot. I am not going to spend time cutting and pasting what I have seen, but this AMV sticker is a grey area that dealerships are abusing. At this point then Dealership Franchises do not need to exist based on your statement as the dealer should be able to buy autos from any OEM auto company and price it how they see fit. If they are a licensed franchise that is selling only what Ford or GM, etc. states they are selling at that price, they should then be honoring the MSRP and selling it that way. This grey area is what has caused hatred by so many out there and will be the death eventually of the dealerships as we move forward in the 21st century IMHO.
  6. First off, plenty of Dealers use the OEM to advertise the cars showing MSRP. Upon visiting said dealerships, you see the AMV stickers which push it above the advertised MSRP. That to me is a bait and switch. Who Cares if the OEM has a $20K markup! They advertise the auto at a MSRP price and that is what people think of paying when they buy. The OEMs are not advertising their cost on said auto, but an MSRP, so whatever profit they mark their products up to sell is their choice, this being no different than what you charge a customer for a project they are having you bid on as they want a final price, not a MSRP plus Adjusted Market Value mark up. EVERYONE, understands that you will have to pay sales tax, licensing fees, filing fees, etc. as every state has their own way of processing the final sales as well as any additional services or dealer offered packages at the time of buying. I was very clear on the Bait and Switch with the following statement: The focus is on the Bait and Switch of the Franchises adding no value with a second sticker that is higher priced.

  10. Interesting the push on Hyundai/Kia engine fires in which while like @Robert Hall found plenty of news stories about the cars catching fire, but not a one about the cares exploding or killing people from said engine fire unlike the exploding Pinto's that did cost people their lives. Then you have Tesla, yes plenty of fires, all due for the most part to battery pack trauma. But not killing people like the exploding Pinto's of Ford Motor Company. Why Tesla Cars Catch on Fire (businessinsider.com) All in all, I think many humans will choose to go to another auto company and not come back, but I doubt it will have the history of memory like a Ford Pinto Exploding did. Tesla has plenty of faults but also, I doubt that the battery pack fires from accident trauma will slow down their sales even with the recent, we shipped 1 million autos in 2021 and are recalling 500,000 autos. What I see slowing down Tesla is that once Legacy auto companies start to ship in volume BEVs, this will cause people to look twice. We see plenty of reviews where Tesla fans are getting nitpicky just to find fault with the Ford Mach-e, but even more reviews by former Tesla owners that praise how well Ford did on their first BEV. Tesla lack of paying attention to quality and then new BEVs form legacy OEMs will be a bigger ding to Tesla sales and possible survival than anything else.
  11. Let me point out you answered the question yourself. The OEM advertises the MSRP for the Auto, their franchises should be selling it at that price, but you show up and see the second sticker added on which is not MSRP. Bait and Switch, that is what is pissing off the consumer. BAIT AND SWITCH. If the OEM offers discounts, then why should I not accept it, that is normal for everyone. The focus is on the Bait and Switch of the Franchises adding no value with a second sticker that is higher priced.
  12. No one would decline a discount when the OEM gives them. This is about managing your franchises. I have not seen fast food franchises add an adjusted market value price to the food that McDonalds markets at a set price. Ford, GM, etc. needs to enforce this same fair pricing of what the buyers are expecting when you see their ads. To me, the adjusted market value stickers is bait and switch that the states need to crack down on.
  13. Was interested in seeing the details, 7.2 million engine fire recalls from 2010 to 2021. 2010-2021-Hyundai-Kia-Engine-and-Fire-Recalls-5-18-21.pdf (autosafety.org)
  14. That is a boomer thinking that you need power ashtrays in an era of smoking is bad where ashtrays are an option you have to pay extra for now.
  15. @oldshurst442I expect a very de-contented entry level BEV from Hyundai / Kia. I think this is what will get BEVs moving to all income brackets. I also think this will allow Hyundai / Kia to do one thing the late Grandpa / Founder of Hyundai Motor Group wanted which was to surpass Toyota. They are moving into the future and will pull others with them, I think. Yes, the Ioniq 5 is a $50K BEV in your country, but that is a mid-range auto today that will get things going and then lower and higher as we have seen in Genesis will help pay off the R&D costs.
  16. This news comes from two sources, Korean Economic Daily and Chosun Biz web sites. The south Korean auto company Hyundai has confirmed that they have immediately stopped all development on new ICE engines in order to accelerate the transformation to EV manufacturing. Effective December 23rd, Hyundai Motor Co. the group's largest automaker closed the engine development division at their R&D center. The 12,000 researchers have all been reassigned. Per the R&D chief Park Chung-kook stated to employees in an internal email: “Our own engine development is a great achievement, but we must change the system to create future innovation based on the great asset from the past.” The move by the global auto industry to EVs is moving at a speed that has caught many legacy ICE suppliers off guard as Hyundai has stated starting in 2030, they will only sell EVs globally. The Motor Group started in 1983 by the grandfather of Hyundai Motor Group in order to make their own engines rather than buy from Japan or America. After 40 years, the engine development division is shut down so that the EV development division can be enhanced with additional researchers and grow at warp speed. The bulk of the 12,000 researchers have been moved to various electrification teams leaving a skeleton group behind to modify and address needs of modifying existing engines for the next 8yrs. A new battery development center has been created to be added to the EV development division. Park has stated that the goal is to develop innovative EVs that will dominate the global market from entry level auto's that Hyundai made its name on to luxury level auto's. The R&D center will also now focus on procuring the raw materials for battery and semiconductor development as to NOT rely on semiconductors out of China or elsewhere in the world from 3rd party suppliers. This change will allow a streamlining of project management teams and product integration teams to accelerate EV development. Only days after the ICE development ending, Chosun Biz published that Hyundai has put all Hydrogen development on hold. A few years back, Hyundai announced they were working on their 3rd generation of Hydrogen autos and fuel cells with a goal of launching a global auto for sale in 2025. Fuel cells are the heart of Hydrogen powered auto's and yet after select testing in Korea and other global select markets of both Hydrogen passenger autos and commercial trucks. September, Hyundai unveiled its third-generation fuel cell auto the Hydrogen Nexo. The Hydrogen fuel-cell powertrain system had been reduced by 30% in size and output plus durability had increased 3 times and they expected to reduce costs by 50% by 2025. However due to technical challenges and a lack of market interest globally the further development has been suspended indefinitely and all researchers will be assigned to new tasks in the EV R&D division. The NEXO only sold 8,206 Hydrogen autos in South Korea in 2021 and even less globally. As such, it seems the future of Hyundai, Kia and Genesis auto's will be EV. 18. Bose posted that due to the Pandemic, they would close their stores, makes total business sense and focus on online sales as dominate sales area. Many other retailers sell multiple products, but when you look at Best Buy, Target, etc. the prices for the same model items are the same, not finding this difference except in regards to the Bose Wave System IV, you have new and refurbished and the refurbished are sold at one price via BOSE, other resellers are allowed to compete at various prices on refurbished to move it, but new same UPC model #s I am not finding a difference in price.
  19. This is going to HURT not Help EV sales and another reason that Ford needs to step on the Dealerships if they want to succeed, otherwise plan for a funeral as new auto companies that stick to selling MSRP will take over. Ford dealers marking up F-150 Lightning by $30K due to strong demand - Electrek Keep a fare profit in it for the Dealer and enforce MSRP selling like Bose does so the price is the same no matter what dealer you go too. Then make sure the service experience is worth it for repeat business, otherwise let them die.
  20. Wrong generation for me, wrong model of auto! Now this is more my style, but would want it in Burgundy. 1986 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Classics for Sale - Classics on Autotrader This also is awesome! Sold though Very cool, but crazy stupid price that I would never pay for any of them. 1986 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe For Sale - Gateway Classic Cars This one says 10K miles only and asking $43K for the auto. Crazy
  21. I could see some German brands use the Port naming scheme for their EVs. USB USB-C USB-D Electric after all!
  22. You are RIGHT, All dealerships tend to have bad salesmanship at times. For me during the 80's and 90's Ford dealerships tended to embrace the push and sell at all costs, lie if you have to to get a sale and make our quota. I have seen this same shit happen at GMC, Buick Dodge, but Ford seems to still be the worse. Never did I ever see them embrace professionalism. I learned from my early years helping family and friends buy autos to set the ground rules and hold the dealership accountable, so things are clear and understandable and if they try their twisted sales lies, more than happy to move onto another dealership.
  23. Totally disagree, the future is electric and the best way to start the transition to electric auto's is with a name that truly embraces this and that is the Buick Electra EV SUV. This has always made sense and totally makes sense here. CES 2022 my gut tells me we will see more of this roadmap show up and I for one am excited by having an AWD Buick Electra EV.
