  1. GXT, I felt the same way about some of the valid points, but I still think that while GM messed up killing the EV1, they did the right thing in building the hybrid Buses that are running all over Seattle and we now no longer have that black smoke and messy smell. Over all the busses here handle far more traffic than the few hybrid auto's but then the average consumer thinks in terms of personal selfishness and wants something only for themselves. I do agree with you about the Volt, I wonder how many people will really buy a 40K vehicle like this. Keeping the baby Duramax Diesel alive and into trucks and SUV's with mid to upper 20's for gas milage would make more money for GM than the Volt will.
  2. POON
  3. The product line has been dead since the early 80's in my opinion. It was on life support up till they finally closed the last dealership and took the sign down.
  4. STUPID STUPID STUPID, As much as I hate saying this, I would rather see the Corvette, CTS-V and other low volume, low sellers go than to take a engine that would go into major product lines of trucks and suv's and could sell hundreds of thousands. This is a major mistake from GM.
  5. So here is a Total BS story about how bad GM is due to the same crap rolled over. You would think that the Senior editor who only quotes that Asian Loving company Consumer reports would get his facts before writing a story. There are a few valid comments, but for the most part this is just another story aimed as hurting our own Auto Making business rather than helping it. CNN Story ON GM has more troubles than you think! What is your thoughts???????
  6. How about PDQ (pretty darn quick)
  7. QUOTE (balthazar @ Mar 7 2009, 10:33 AM) If only the folk who had transmission failures, cracked frames or engines sludged --or any number of other defects & shortcomings-- would stop recommending toyotas. QUOTE (hyperv6 @ Mar 7 2009, 07:37 AM) Ah you forgot the Tundra crank failures! That was a good one. Do not forget about the front body frame cracks on the FJ cruisers. Sadly, I see Toyota entering the same poor quality that GM has been ragged on about. Over all, every year a differant manufacture seems to build a superior car. Every dog has it's day. Sadly some people just seem to always hit the bumps.
  8. This should be enjoyable. About time I think.
  9. Even in Chapter 7, the Chevy, Cadillac and GMC are my 3 bets to be bought and survive even if owned by a company that is NON US based. I would stick with them. Even used I would still buy one of these 3 auto's. Might just have to do that moving forward. But I hope not and in reality, I think not. I see GM but in a totally differant configuration surviving next year and longer. Hopefully with Ford and UAW as well as GM and CAW finalizing long term changes to the contracts they can get what needs to be done by March 31st and get the loans from Uncle Sam and then F@!K the GOP who says they should never get another penny and anyone else who feels it is wrong to LOAN money to American companies compared to the Free Hand out the Financial institutes got. Amazing that very few people are demanding refunds especially of the 3.9 Billion paid out to Meril Lynche employees just before the take over by B of A and then the infusion of 40 Billion to keep them afloat due to the bad loans from ML. Pathetic.
  10. I remember asking myself the same question and then was able to read the local news report and they said he had a knife and had been so brutal everyone fled in fear. He was found with fingers, nose and ears in his pockets that he had cut off the victim. He also had cut the body into pieces spread around the inside of the bus. I would have to think that while we all hope someone would have tried to stop this person, it also was probably so grewsom that the fear kicked in the flight response for everyone. At this point, I agree with what Pontiac Custom-S stated which is he WAS SCHIZOPHRENIA. As such, death is the only option I have for him in my book. I wonder if the Prosecutor and Defense had political motivation in mind for joining together to have this guy get off going to a loony bin. Sad day for the victims family.
  11. Sugar
  12. Agreed and then plead temporary insanity. Pathetic legal system.
  13. Just cause he was looney and the area he was living in was willing to ignor him is no reason to waste tax payers money on a murder. He was sane enough to buy a bus ticket and kill someone. PUll the trigger and put him down. Fry him or shoot him up with chemical cocktail to have hime go 6 feet under. The family of the murder victim should not have to have him get away with it and wonder if some day someone will think he is able to go back into society due to budget cuts.
  14. I replied to this on the usa today web site when they posted this yesterday, I feel this freak should be locked up for life at least and in all honesty, I feel an eye for an eye. Why waste tax payers money. Take his life as he had no respect for the one he took, cut up and ate.

  16. Personally I would still go for the outlet store from DELL and get a nice XPS unit with an ATI 512mb or 1gb video card. They will run what you want to play very well and do it with a warranty that only requires 1 phone call and then they will come out and repair / replace the broken parts if that happens.
  17. DF, If you can find a clean used 3.2 or 3.5 with the trans, I would go for the matched set and enjoy it as a frugal swap. This will probably give you the least amount of trouble.
  18. QUOTE (Satty @ Mar 5 2009, 04:04 AM) The 2nd generation S-cars. When all they did was a facelift instead of keeping the cars ahead of the competition, they sealed Saturn's fate. Second place goes to the Relay, first Saturn without polymer panels. I agree with the 2nd generation Saturn S-Series. I was in the market for a new car at the time and decided to give the then newly introduced 2nd gen Saturn SL a test drive. It seemed very crude and uncompetitive compared to some of the car's competitors that I test drove the very same day. I ended up buying a competitor's product instead. GM spent billions launching this brand to counter the Asian imports, but they didn't do much after that to ensure that the brand stayed current and competitive. It was a very expensive yet ultimately halfhearted attempt by GM to regain lost market share and customers. I still think GM would have been better off by simply making drastic improvements within their existing divisional structure; they should have tried "thinking outside" of their existing box instead of creating a troublesome new box that they weren't able to maintain or sustain. Creating a new division with its own accompanying dedicated factory and dealership body isn't required to engineer/design/build class leading products and improve/overhaul customer service. ------------------------------------------------------------------- I totally agree with both these post. At this point just sell it off or close it down, GM should have just focused on their core brands instead of thinking they had to build a whole new box.
  19. Yes I would agree with only those 2 they need a smaller model and that would be it then. Pontiac would then fill in with their couple cars for the "EXCITEMENT" crowd.
  20. Welcome back and congrates on the up coming Baby addition. Life is really going to become a fun roller coaster for you guys. Glad your back.
  21. AWESOME DF, Thank you for sharing. Personally I love the snow and we got 8 inches over night in the foothills and mountains of Seattle. Gonna be a great weekend skiing. I will take everyones Snow as this also adds up to snowpack, AKA available water for the lands, drinking, lakes etc. So a good winter with lots of snow makes things awesome for spring and summer. Keep it Cold, Snow a fallen and keep your skiis tuned and waxed. Rock on!
  22. Over all it is a nice sedan, be interesting to see what the public really thinks. In regards to Buicks lineup. I thought they were going to only have a few cars as would Pontiac as these would round out the truck / suv landscape of GMC, why they want the GMCBP dealership. But I could be mistaken. I think with the current economy and hardships for companies everything is up in the air now.
  23. Very Interesting and a solid debate issue for our group. I personally like the look but needs a few tweaks and like DF said, it should be unique to the brand not a rebadge.
  24. Good Luck DF on the engine swap Project. Take pictures and keep us posted as to the change out and details of the work.
  25. Found a 1987 Monte Carlo Areo SS model with T top. If the price is right this might just be my next project.
