Cadillac News: Spying: Cadillac CTS, Now On The Streets
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
If the building is over all Modern with historical tie in of older vehicles and a few touches of pop culture, then I would say you could have a good dealership. Yet my 25 year old son and his friends had stopped by the house and and we were talking cars. It was pretty amazing to hear. They all seemed to like the Camero with the hints of heritage, but over all newer modern look. They felt the Mustange was an old dino that was holding on too tight to the past. They did love the pictures I showed them of what some says could be the new mustange. A couple of them brought up the comment of why are people living in the past rather than moving forward with a modern future version that has complements to the past built into the future versions. I think we can always acknowledge the past but must move forward with the future. -

GM News: Déjà Vu: GM Really Wants a Slice of Isuzu Motors
G. David Felt replied to Blake Noble's topic in General Motors
SAAB is DEAD, Let it rest in the history books. I still expect additional consolidation in the auto industry as Europe closes down their way over capacity of plants. -
SS brand is fine as long as it is all about top performance in that category for me. If they start watering it down from performance to just a badge class, then they have lost their mojo. I have no problem with an SS Cruze that is a turbo v6 if it is top of the line and truly dominates it's category. I see no reason to keep SS to only v8 engines. Just think of a Spark with a Turbo 4 banger that is top in it's class. That would also be an SS in my opinion.
-
Not sure I would say lacks rear leg room as much as in this class they are trying to fit everyone including us tall guys (6'6") and so I have noticed the driver seats seem to go back farther than you get in bigger auto's. I think this gives the impression of smaller rear leg room.Course as a compact sedan, this does have limitation on rear leg room and over all interior room.

WOW, Out my window at work, I see a 2 year old Nissan Tundra smoking and dropping oil. I can see the drops on the rain covered streets. Sad when a person abuses their ride and ends up with burnt rings, smoke out the tailpipe and dripping oil on the street.

GM News: Déjà Vu: GM Really Wants a Slice of Isuzu Motors
G. David Felt replied to Blake Noble's topic in General Motors
Reason to tie back up is as I stated, their ongoing ever growing Diesel portfolio of Patents. GM got access to what went into the Duramax at that time and the right to use it to build other size engines. Yet Isuzu never stopped creating and building new diesel technology and clearly one of their newer patents GM must want. -
GM News: Déjà Vu: GM Really Wants a Slice of Isuzu Motors
G. David Felt replied to Blake Noble's topic in General Motors
I totally agree, GM should NEVER have gotten out of the Medium duty truck business. I will have to say that I also understand preBK that they had to cut some areas. -
Why not just remove it completely, weld the holes closed and repaint it to match the car or have a silver strip added there to mimic the original fake chrome strip.

Yes I would agree that this building with a proper interior remodel and an exterior cleaning fresh up would have plenty of potential as a modern Caddy dealership. -
Blitzvision: Why I Need an Old Opel in My Life
G. David Felt replied to Blake Noble's topic in The Lounge
Or as I have seen here in Seattle, have a custom tube frame made for the car with the suspension you want for the ecotec engine you want and put the Opel GT body on it. -
GMTruckGuy, Nice indeed. Ocn, why not take the truck back to the repair shop and have them make it right?

Wow you must have learned old school with the heel on the brake while appling gas. In a level parking lot, release the brake and apply gas and slowly release the clutch so it slips and you get forward motion. Practice going in and out of gears as you $h! from 1st to 2nd to 3rd and back down. Get a feel for how the clutch grabs. The transition needed to get moving without killing the engine. Trust me, it is not that hard nor will you burn out the clutch learning to drive a manual. This is where I feel we need to increase the level of Drivers ed an ALL students MUST learn to drive a manual tranny. Mud, I like the review, looking forward to pics and hearing more about the car. Trust me, driving a manual is not hard, it is just time behind the wheel getting a feel for the transition of shifting. My 98 Dodge Dakota has 250K miles, survived 2 kids and a wife learning to drive and my original clutch finally went out at 157k miles. So I know you can learn with out burn!

GM News: Déjà Vu: GM Really Wants a Slice of Isuzu Motors
G. David Felt replied to Blake Noble's topic in General Motors
Isuzu still is one of the worlds biggest Diesel engine makers and suppliers from what I understand. Since Isuzu built to GM spec the Duramax, it would only make sense for GM to tie up with them again for access to their very large portfolio of Patents in regards to diesel technology. -
Chevrolet News:Did OnStar Accidently Confirm An SS Model In 2014?
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
I could understand this if it was not for the fact that allot of people do not have the best memories of this car. With GM having owned so many other car companies, they are sitting on a ton of new / Old names. That is why I think they could pull something out of the Pontiac/Oldmobile/ older current names. New/Old Auto Names Chevy Torpedo Chevy BelAir Chevy Firebird Chevy Skylark Chevy Cutlass Chevy Hellcat I think the name used will be older than 10-15 years old from the history bins. -
How Much Does Automotive Journalism Matter to You?
G. David Felt replied to Blake Noble's topic in The Lounge
I think I failed to clarify my point. The A.J. needs to state the facts along with what the auto company is wanting or thinking they have achieved. This gives the reader a straight forwad approach of what the product is. Then follow this up with a Fact based editorial that is clearly including the persons opinion. I am totally fine with this as long as they at least give the product a chance to stand on it's own legs before tearing into it. -
Cheers or Jeers: 1986 GMC 4x4 Firetruck
G. David Felt replied to wildmanjoe's topic in Auctions and Classifieds
Yea, the autoshows here are more about the modern pickup with Technology than having anything to do with old commercial trucks. They usually have a small section of old custom pickup trucks and that is it. Maybe this is due to the history of the area on the west coast is not as old as the east coast. -
Both are very nice rdes, I do love the Black edition model of the ram.

How Much Does Automotive Journalism Matter to You?
G. David Felt replied to Blake Noble's topic in The Lounge
Yes, one of my pet peaves is that auto Journalism does not stay neutral. Like Consumers Report, A.J. seems to have it's good moments and some very terrible moments. They need to focus on the latest product and be neutral so as to allow the viewers to make a decision, do not make it for them. -
Good Road trip on old roads is always awesome.
