    So question, why do we have to have a v8 or v6 in the ATS-V at all? Why could we not go with a Turbo 4 or twin turbo 4 and use Electric engines and battery pack to give it a CTS-V performance level or even better? I think it was Porsche who had a high performance hybrid. This would give it green credentials and performance to boot. We all know you can have some amazing performance with using electric engines and a solid powerful small 4 banger. If a Hybrid ATS-V can beat a M3 while being green, you just hit the lottery for Cadillac.

    My draw back with the edge is the external Jelly Bean bland look. Internal is the plastic flimsy vents. From what I have seen of the new fords myself, they have come up in interior materials, yet still have many shortcuts showing and the vents are one big shortcoming I think.

    Very nice cement work, are you putting plastic on the wall and floor before you poor to keep it so clean or just water and a brush to scrub it up clean? Eather way, my hat is tipped to you for a nice job.

    OK, First questions as I have come to have male and females ask me these questions about diesels. When Idling is the engine smooth or rough to be noticeable from inside the car? Do you have the constant smell of oil burning or is it really not noticable? With windows up, no fan on or radio, how loud is the engine? Any chance on testing the DB level? Is this engine a direct injection? Does it feel nose heavy or lite and nimble? Looking forward to your review with pictures of the engine compartment and trunk.

    Yes, this would do well as a CNG ride with some nice big tanks to handle off roading.

    Great review, nice write up. I have to say Jeers to the Body design as it screams mini mini van to me and then has that freak-in ugly big black mouth for a front end. The dash while looking functional just screams minimalistic and makes me wonder what else was a short cut in cheapening the car to hit a certian price point. This is a car company that I do not see in the future just like Mazda unless it merges with some one.

    That is freakin HOT GMC! Nice ride. that would be so awesome to have. Just have to LineX the bed and get a cover for the bed. Then it would be perfect for me. Love the color too.

    True, but still just 4 cyls...it will be interesting to see how the current turbo 4 trend plays out...turbo 4s were fairly widespread in the 80s, most of them turned out to be crap and a passing fad. and still just as irrelevant. The Turbo-4s that are out now don't need to rev to get power or torque out of them. You're not going to be happy with a naturally aspirated 4 no matter what... we all know that already. The Regal GS Turbo-4 puts out more torque and at a lower RPM than the FWD Northstar did. Very true olds that the current crop of Turbo 4 or even Turbo 3 engines put out more than v6 or v8 engines did in the 80's or 90's. Yet when driving one of them, there still seems to be something missing from the over all experience of putting your foot into a turbo 4 banger compared to a v8. I call it the seat of your pants experience, but I do not get a satisfying feel from driving a turbo 4 in comparison to a v8. Yes I am probably biased a bit from having big power V8's all my life, but when I push a small engine even turbo charged still seem to strain in my perception compared to a v8.

    I thought both the Element and Ridgeline were dead products as you cannot find them on the Honda lots here in the Seattle area. Course they never were that popular here.

    Interesting observation, but the hybrids must be pretty damn good as you do NOT see them on the lots as used. I did a search for 500 miles around me and found only 2 hybrids available for sale and yet found dozens of their sister versions for sale. This is what I find strange, why are they not Marketing the Hybrid and bragging about the 22 miles per gallon. This KILLS anything Toyota has in a full size SUV or Pickup Truck! Even BMW and MB cannot touch what a Hybrid Escalade gets and you still have all the luxury and power of that hot V8.

    I think you may have misunderstood. The car is no longer "under recall" after the repair work has been done. If they want to rent or sell the car, no problem, just have the recall work done first. Yup, after rereading the Detroit news story they can rent or sell the auto once it has been fixed, but only Hertz is actually doing it and pledged to do it world wide. Enterprise and Avis are willing to do it for major safety issues but want an exemption for all others as it is a burden on them. What threw me in rereading it is that they only mention this in one place and the rest of the story as well as the legislation just mentions over and over they cannot rent or sell recalled auto's. After rereading the newspaper story and looking at the legislation online, they truly have brought this on themselves.

    As much as I hate regulations like this, I agree with Olds, they brought this on themselves. There is way more than enough float on the lots that they should have ALL recalls done within 30 days. There is NO excuse for NOT getting a safety recall done. I feel this is a bit excessive in that they cannot rent or sell a recall vehicle as they should be able to do this once the recall issue is addressed. This law with this stipulation is going to create a grey market where the rental companies are going to either be demanding to return the car back to the OEM and then they will fix it and dump it or we will see shell companies pop up that will deal with unloading recalled auto's.

    Very cool, so is the 4 banger running the rear wheels and the v8 up front or the other way around. It is so hard to tell. Any more info on this crazy car?
