Land Rover News: And Now, The 2013 Range Rover
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Land Rover
I do like the minimalist interior, but the outside just does nothing for me. While it is nice that they connected the front headlight design with the rear tail light design, I just get a total FORD vibe from this and for the money Land Rover charges, I should not be getting this cheap vibe. -
Will be interesting to see how this sells and how the customers respond. I suspect we will see two messages. 1) it is a slow car with ok gas mileage 2) It is a nice car by why is the gas mileage so bad. Performance folks will complain it is not fast enough and tree huggers will complain it does not have good enough gas mileage.

Industry News: Fisker Announces New CEO, Former Volt Boss
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
Fisker is looking to protect themselves with all the investors money they took, so now is the time to bring in new mgmt to fix the issues. Saw the new Fisker auto store in Bellevue washington yesterday and have to say it was freaking brown box ugly with just one fisker on the show room floor and two out front but a few Porsche's and a Maserati on the show room floor. Still get a feeling this is a fly by night operation. But after 30 years guess the guy figures he could leave GM and retire and then 60 days later take up a hobby. -
Land Rover News: Leaked: Are You The Next Range Rover?
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Land Rover
UGH, How Fordish of this auto with those headlights. Not a fan at all, I think they have lost their style sense. -
In Seattle, this has become very true as the average age of driving has risen to 18 and more people are just looking at an Auto as an appliance that gets them from point A to B and so they do not care about how it drives since they are not in it very long. Yet the test drive is very important to people who drive more than 5-10 miles one way to work or have long commutes as the layout of the dash, comfort of the driving position and over all road handling becomes very important. I suspect that this read the reviews and follow the trends will stay this way for as much as 20% of car buyers going forward. I also will say that 50% of these people will end up trading in that auto in the first year and realize just how important the test drive is.

I liked the Beretta and the Cavalier Z24, but the conquest was freakin awesome to drive. Which is why it beat out my other favorite the Beretta. I would have bought one of them, but the Chevy dealer who had a fully loaded white one at the end of the year was not willing to dicker on the price.

Chrysler News: Chrysler: We'll Build Electric Cars.. Sparingly
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Chrysler
Yes, I would agree that pure electric is a money looser at this stage, but it is a compliance issue and as such, if a company is to play in all states, then they must comply. Sad that they could not use CNG auto's to comply since Electric is such a green house gas pig of production. -
Rumorpile: What We Know On The Alfa Romeo Giulia :Comments
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Alfa Romeo
That red car is the Alfa Romeo 159, what the Giulia will be replacing Boy talk about getting confused on their cars. No wonder I like to stick with American. -
+1 if he did pull the trigger on this sweet ride.

LOL, No I am not nuts, but I do see inspiration here that is the point I am trying to get across. Where is the inspiration in todays Jelly Bean derived cars and trucks? Prius is anything but inspiring, most CUV's are now just as bland. I agree that Lutz did push the envelope, but even he was past his prime and we need people who are willing to look to the past and the future and graft and bring together new design elements. Nothing wrong with bringing together bits from the past in a modern day version. I know that some here would agree with me that we have lost the passion in the design of cars with so many focused only on how minimal they can make the drag. I do NOT want a redo of an old model, but why not take design elements that people seem to like just as Ford did with the fast back mustang and build a modern day right that can stand on it's own. We need the passion back and I see it in this company even if it is a grafting of multiple model year cars.

Buick News: Buick Announces Pricing For The Verano Turbo
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Buick
One also needs to keep in mind that auto's will also always be priced based on average income. GM has looked at the average income and decided where a car will fit in. So in a city like Seattle with an average income of $51,604 dollars and a very high educated engineer worker base with an average income of $81,608 these prices tend to make sense. http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Location=Seattle-WA/Salary Check out your area and you will then see why the auto mix for where you are tends to be what it is. The auto industry takes this into account when deciding where certain cars will sell more than other places. Best thing one can do is upgrade your skill set to command a higher income. Good luck to you all, I hope you all get to have the car of your dreams some day. -
Other stuff I've been eyeballing
G. David Felt replied to Camino LS6's topic in Auctions and Classifieds
Find a truck that meets 80-90% of your requirements and then realize that you can usually add the rest to truly meet your needs. I have yet to ever find an auto that meets my needs 100%. -
Car pics that make you go OMG...
G. David Felt replied to A Horse With No Name's topic in The Lounge
But the Future should look to inspiration from the past. I think we can have some amazing cars if we only realized what has been lost in the Style department and this kind of car does inspire me to build a modern judge GTO that would be so much better. -

Rumorpile: What We Know On The Alfa Romeo Giulia :Comments
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Alfa Romeo
Am I missing something or is the red car in the photo not the concept that everyone loved for the most part? Why a new concept before moving forward? -
GM has had a string of hits lately that demand respect, they also have had a few that are less then thrilling. Some times even a big company needs to step up and realize that bringing in an outside designer will not hurt. www.n2amotors.com This company has used the 1957, 58 & 59 chevy to build their 789, they have used the 63, 65 & 67 corvette to build the new Stinger. These are cars that Chevy could so use in bringing in individualism to drivers who want an amazing car with style. Enjoy the web site at the cars are beautiful.

Buick News: Buick Announces Pricing For The Verano Turbo
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Buick
Ocnblu I have to disagree with you, this is properly equipped and priced and it allows Buick to take the models above it upscale just as Cadillac will take their cars up scale. GM has finally figured out how to build and sell profitable auto's that people want and the public will see this over the next couple of years as GM fills in product gaps and grows their product line. -
I think we also need to Question the value period for the contract full term length. This is such an outragous price for marketing that anyone with a reasonable head would have to question the cost. Sounds like GM did the right thing and I hope the next company that hires him will question if they want a man doing their marketing that will play this kind of games. As a stock holder, I would be exploding if mgmt was doing this. This is what old days GM would have done. Todays New GM needs to be better than this.
