Lithium ion battery maker A123 Systems today said it has sold its automotive business to Johnson Controls and is filing for bankruptcy protection. The moves are a change in strategy for the ailing Waltham, MA-based company, which in August said it will sell an 80 percent share to the auto parts division of Chinese conglomerate Wanxiang for $450 million. Johnson Controls will acquire a significant set of assets for its $125 million investment, some of which were paid with federal aid. A123 Systems’ auto business includes its technology, two battery factories in Michigan, a cathode powder manufacturing facility in China, and A123’s stake in two auto parts suppliers in China. Johnson Controls also will put up $72.5 million so A123 can maintain operations during the sale. http://www.forbes.co...-sell-off-next/ So how will this affect the auto makers who use their batteries such as Toyota, Ford, Nissan...... Sounds off on how you see this shaking out in the auto industry!

Scientists to simulate human brain with computer....
G. David Felt replied to A Horse With No Name's topic in The Lounge
I see many long term benefits coming out of mapping the Brain and better understanding how to stimulate it. I can see prisons going away once we know how to proper stimulate and change how people do things. Would be wonderful to not have to pay a tax used to incarcerate someone. Course I am all about an eye for an eye and wish they would move along in cleaning out death row. Why do we the tax payer have to pay for a death row inmate who in overwhelming evidence killed a person. Just remove the poor gene pool from population so we do not have the dragged on cost of having them live in a cell. -
Back again...GS style this time
G. David Felt replied to caddycruiser's topic in Member's Rides Showcase
It would be cool for a twin turbo V6 AWD in this as an upgrade in performance. I think many would love it even more. Just make sure to have an 8 or 9 speed Auto on it. -
Cadillac News: Cadillac ELR To Begin Production In Late 2013
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
I agree with you Hyper, So what is the real story here? What is the real message to the masses? I have to admit that while I am excited by this car and my personal understanding is this is a long range green car for the luxury market but with more performance so it will not be as fuel efficient as the Volt but still way better than if it was just another luxury 4 door. I honestly do not know the marketing message for this car yet. Does anyone else know what GM is trying to get across with this auto? -
We'll I have to give them credit, it seems to be a good little 4x4 beast, the youth and people looking for a fun small 4x4 should dig it in a proper Jeep Skin. COMPASS -

But, But, But that seems to be the trend, all Auto's for the most part seem to have a face on their butt now. Not sure why we seem to feel the need to have an auto look at you and either smile or frown. I see this as an area that someone can make a real difference in with superior styling.

Fact is for anyone in their 20's to 40's, this is our current day Depression. Sorry but we did not crawl out of this in 2009 like the gov said, Since 2007 America and now the world is in a Major Depression due to INSTANT GRATIFICATION DEBT. Until debt gets under control, we will be in static to meager growth.

The Pleasure of Anal while enjoyable to many straight or not men and woman is still seen as a Taboo topic. Like anything, if one lets conservative closed minded people dictate life, then nothing will be studied or explored to better understand. Yet when we let educated individuals research topics such as this, then we get good documented information to better benefit society. Perfect example is the crusade by the conservatives to not have health education in school and not to talk about sex and yet as the better educated pushed to get school health education going, we saw the decrease in Kids having kids. States where they tend to minimize good health education also seems to have a much higher rate of kids having kids and STD's. I am happy to touch it with a 10" pole!

What is making Americans Fat...?
G. David Felt replied to A Horse With No Name's topic in The Lounge
How to change this, is I hate to say it but we have to give reduced sizes. This will make people complain about not having huge portions, but reality is the body does not need 3000 calories for everyone. I doubt we are all professional Jocks that burn 8000 to 12000 calories. Most people get by just fine on 1200-1500 calories and of course if your taller like me maybe 2000 calories. Right now, we need to make it harder for people to get vendor snacks. Take out the vending machines from our schools or change it out to healthy choices at least. Remove all the sugary drinks that are in the vending machines at school and put in healthy choices again. I know some schools and states have gone the cold turkey route and the whip lash is to be expected and others have taken a phased in approach which I think is better. We have to reprogram humanity to make better choices and it will require a phased in approach not a cold turkey approach otherwise we do not need to worry about Jihad when we will kill off ourselves do to eating and laziness. -

I have a gut feeling that this will all go away and the company will be nothing more than a foot note in history like the DeLorean. -

Industry News: Another Delay For The Fisker Atlantic
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
Based on reading the original Reuters story and searching around on the net it would seem they are hurting in many ways and that this delay is due to many things including I wonder if certain automakers might not be putting pressure on them. Makes me think of Tucker Torpedo all over again. -
Sweet Looking ride, needs a little love but clearly a good base truck to work from.
