  1. Now that's a thought! If GM and PSA did co-develop something equivalent to VW's MQB platform, it could underpin basically everything from the Sonic to the Malibu/Regal and possibly even the LaCrosse/Impala. Not to mention the next Encore and Theta replacements. Then, hopefully GM would use Alpha which should be flexible enough for several Cadillac's (hopefully the next SRX again), Camaro, and whatever other small RWD vehicles they have worked up. If GM can come up with two standardized global platforms that loose weight and offer the right balance of strength, rigidity and flexibility, They could do well then to have this cover their FWD appliances and RWD appliances and then sell it to less funded auto companies who need a diverse platform to build cars on.
  2. I agree, GM is proving that the OEM's need to pay attention to the input from the After market crowd and bring them to the dealers lot in OEM trim. This will go a long way in helping to increase sales and lower cost. Many people love to buy a car that is a bit tweaked/customized like what you find at Sema without having to go out right after purchase and spend more money to do it. After market rim makers should tie up with the OEM's and allow a wider selection of rims or at least get the OEM out of making their own bland rims. Have two or three rims for a product line and then have a selected vendor that can allow even more options. Except for my ESV Platinum Escalade that I love the OEM rims, very clean and simple yet make a nice statement on my 2006 model, I have not been a fan of what GM has choosen for rims.
  3. There's always that 'air powered car.' But I'm not sure we'll want to pump that type of gas out of a hose. LOL I have created the Butt-n-ator. This is a self fueling power source for auto's. Just eat plenty of material that causes gas such as Dairy, Cabbage, beans, broccoli, etc and then when driving you can just fart into your seat and it is stored in a special can under the seat and used to fuel the car. Natural Methan at it's best.
  4. A lot of it is guilt. Where I live (and I'm sure in Seattle too), a considerable number of Asian students have high-priced vehicles and toys, yet they live here alone. They're called 'satellite children,' because their parents are in Hong Kong or China. Wealthy parents don't have the time to actually be, well, parents. So they use material goods to offset the guilt. As this case shows, good parenting was missing. Very true, Both of my kids now 29 & 25 have friends who are Satellite kids and they have everything given to them. Very sad that the parents cannot be real parents. Many of my kids friends come over on Sunday to be a part of our required Family Dinner. Amy and Alex are not allowed to miss Sunday dinner. A chance to get caught up on each others life and unplug from the high paced tech race of society. Their friends are always welcome and we always have 2 or 3 that join us and really like it. They have started to call us Mom and Dad and even come to talk to us about decisions they make since we do not judge them, we just offer our input based on our experiance being 20+ years older than them. Wow Do I feel old now.
  5. Interesting, I am with GoDaddy and been pretty happy. I see they are a big international hosting company. I am surprised they have outage issues.
  6. I agree with your statements above 100%. GMC should have 3 distinct levels of their models where necessary - standard (current trim lineup of W/T, SL, SLE, SLT), urban (Denali), and off-road (All Terrain). A truck/CUV/SUV for everyone's needs Just imagine if GM listened to us, they could make some serious cash.
  7. That truck is just freakin hot! Another reason why I hold onto my Suburban. It just rocks.
  8. The point was... it wasn't insignificant. 62 lbs is comparable, for instance, to the entire sound insulation package used in many compact cars. 62lbs to me is nothing, I guess if you are used to compact cars then you are right it is significant. But for a guy who only owns full size SUV's or my performance Trailblazer AWD SS, 62lbs is nothing. In a car the size of a corvette, there are many places that they can adjust to drop a 62lb dumb bell. I think the technological gains of this very Efficient Engine outway the small 62lb gain in weight. As we all know, Horsepower might win the Marketing battle, but Torque wins the war! Just love that quote.
  9. After seeing this, I just do not know what to say. WTF!
  10. Good to know that it was a paint option. I agree Ocn as paint issues were industry wide with problems.
  11. I wonder if this GM/PSA platform could end up being a global platform on the scale of what VW is doing where you can build a wide range of auto's on it and sell it to less funded companies who want to use it to build their own auto's.
  12. Do you know if the Two Tone was an OEM paint option?
  13. Out of Curiosity, who is the web hosting company?
  14. I agree, using the hummer 4x4 technology as a kit to offer on GM trucks and SUV's so if a person wants a Raptor class rig they can order it would have made for a far better product line than setting Hummer up as a stand alone division. That was a big mistake.
  15. Smack it or did he SMACK it!
  16. We'll if I was to get a crotch rocket car, then this would do it for me. Dusk color please with the big ass most powerful motor available please.
  17. Happy B-Day ZL-1
  18. Your very right about these new liquids. They over all do just fine, the story's of sludge, jello clogging up is due to the uninformed who do not bother to even read the maintenance section of their owners manual and then they go and mix in non compatible liquids and mess it all up. Today's modern engines will last a long time if you take 30 min to review your owners manual and get to know your auto. Do not treat it like a standard kitchen appliance. They are more complex and need a bit of special attention. If you do not want to do this and want to be in that class of appliance users, then at least have the common sense to take it to the dealer or certified ASE repair place for maintenance. If you choose to ignore common sense maintenance, then you do not have a right to complain about the product when it fails you due to you failing to take care of it. GIRTH GAINED In regards to the insignificant weight gain of this engine, there are many other areas that they will be able to shed weight and I do not see this causing any decrease in gas mileage or performance.
  19. OK, to clarify, the hardware packages and the drive ratio's that were avaiable on the hummer should be made part of an extreme off road package. I am not aware of any current GM 4x4 that had a 45 to 1 crawl ratio out the door from the OEM except when GM built Hummers. There were many things that you found on a hummer that I never saw on any other GM product.
  20. In searching around Seattle here and I admit I could have overlooked it or just not Binging it or googling it right, but was a two tone like this OEM? I am wondering if the owner had the strip painted on.
  21. Party Time
  22. Yet I have found that many people from India, do give their kids everything and spoil them here in America when they have been very financially successful. It was pathetic some of the parties I have see at hotels I have stayed at for 1year old, 16, 18 etc. They spend crazy amounts on their kids.
  23. Sweet Starter Ride for college adults and a solid fun commuter car. Wonder if the aftermarket will have a twin scroll Turbo with cold air intake kit to bump this up into the 200+ range of Torque and HP.
  24. I would have to say in looking again at the photo's that I do not think this truck has been repainted and all the badges are in place. The 2500 is on the rubber bumper strip at the front of the door and the SLE badge is in place Lower Right Corner of the rear window as well as from what I can see. The interior matches what I have on my 94 bought in 93 Suburban SLE. Very roomy, comfy ride. Look forward to hearing about it and what the condition of the engine bay is and underneath knowing that the road salts can rust an auto out, yet this looks very clean.
