  3. Saw a Seattle Crown Vic Police Cruiser T-Boned by a Silver Bug this morning on the ride in on the bus. News says lady was arrested for DUI at 5:30am in the morning Both officers were taken to Hospital with injuries. Bug was totaled and the whole side of the Crown Vic was bashed in big time. I think totaled also. She was driving fast.

  6. T Boone Pickens posted this in his LinkedIn Blog: We all know how high gasoline prices have continued to rise, year over year. Higher gasoline prices are largely based on higher crude oil prices – likely to bounce between $90 and $100 per barrel for the foreseeable future – plus refining costs, transportation, labor, taxes and (dare we mention it?) profit. But there is a hidden cost in what we pay for the oil we import from the Middle East. That is the cost of protecting the well sites, pipelines, and shipping lanes. We currently have two carrier battle groups stationed in and around the Persian Gulf to protect the oil coming through the Strait of Hormuz. According to a report from the Government Accountability Office, the annualized cost of keeping a carrier battle group at sea is $2.93 billion. Two battle groups cost about $5.86 billion per year. And there are discussions about moving a third group on station to deal with potential issues between Iran and Israel. About 17 million barrels of oil move through the Strait of Hormuz each day. Two million barrels of that comes to the United States. The other 15 million barrels goes to China, India, Europe and elsewhere across the oceans. We get just over 10 percent of the oil, yet we pay 100 percent of the costs of protecting it. Oil is a very small player in the production of electricity – about three percent. Most of the oil we import is used as gasoline to run our national fleet of 250 million passenger cars and light trucks. More of it is used as diesel to fuel our eight million heavy-duty trucks. It is too complicated logistically to try and create a massive base of natural gas-powered cars. However, heavy trucks – those 18-wheelers – tend to run the same routes week in and week out, so it is a relatively simple matter put natural gas refueling stations at enough truck stops along Interstate highways to handle their fueling needs. If we converted all of our heavy trucks to natural gas we would reduce our need for OPEC oil by 75 percent. Without the need for Middle East oil, we would reduce the cost of protecting it by 100 percent. If the Chinese or French still need it, they can pay to protect it. We need to get off OPEC oil and onto domestic resources. It can be done in about five years and would have a positive impact on our economy, our environment, and our national security.

It is not there for performance driving. Note they just built the1 millionth Nox/Terrain 2010. I feel many do not really understand how well this vehicle is selling. Very Cool to hear they built the millionth unit. I assume you meant 2012? I was just shocked they sold 90,000 Terrains last year. That is a hell of a lot of GMC's for not being a pick up truck. When you compare all you get for the money, GMC is smart in putting together a pretty much complete base package for a competative price. The Body Style is a Hate it / LOVE IT! Relationship and I think it does click with many people. It tends to stand out more than the run of the mill CUV Jelly Beans on the roads today. Put all competative CUV's in this catagory side by side and the Terrain will stand out loud and proud! So maybe we should post the photo's so everyone can compare and decide themselves.   8. Cool Got it, I was thinking starting from the begining to current 2012, but I now understand you meant starting from the 2010 to current. Very cool that in 3 years they have built that many. Very Cool Indeed!
  9. Yea, while some on the ones that were over 250K miles seemed high, I thought over all not bad. If I had some cash flow right now, I would buy either of the two I posted and convert them to CNG. Some day as I love these smaller Full Size 2door SUV's.

  11. Like Mitsubishi, this is another company I feel should merge with mitsu and Mazda. Then those three would have a much better portfolio to compete in the global market place.

  13. Is it not that all asian car makers should be up big time in comparison to last year when they were all shutdown? I wonder if they are just not on par with what sales trends would have been if mother nature had not thrown them a curve ball. Also, maybe it was also due to people holding off due to the slow economy that is finally nudging up.
  14. You can Thank Sandy for lower gas prices with all those people not using it. Course I would be worried right now about all the contamination in the underground gas tanks. I would rather have a diesel right now to burn it than a gas car. Someone is going to make a freakin fortune. Sucks to be a person who gets stuck with a water logged car that has supposedly been dried out. I saw the picture of those hundreds of yellow taxis flooded and all the oil/gas slick on the water around them. WOW, Guess it is time to replace them all with new Ford Transit CNG taxis More Frackin coming up.

  18. Different segments...the Malibu is the midsize, the Impala the fullsize. Same reason Buick has the Regal and LaCrosse, Ford the Fusion and Taurus. Not everyone wants a small 4cyl midsizer. Though I'd take a Charger or 300 over any of GM or Ford's weak FWD fullsizers. But having them on the lot they do not come across as one is mid size and one is full size. They look the same. Guess based on other comments here I will have to go back and look at them again as they both came across as being in the same size just two tweaked options. There won't be anyone who sees the Malibu and Impala next to each other in the steel and make a mistake on which one is bigger. Even w/ the current Impala and previous Malibu, it was pretty clear which was bigger. Maybe it's because dfelt is so used to full size SUVs that all cars look small to him.. I will for sure have to go back and take a look as Lee Johnson Chevrolet in Kirkland has them lined up at a 45 deg angle in two long lines and since then made the lines impala, malibu, impala, malibu they all just blended in when I went by them in my trailblazer and to me looked to be about the same size in width and length. Just different front clips. So yes from the Guy with all full size SUV's and a mid size SUV these cars do look about the same to me, no different than when I see a camry and avalon. See my response above, being on the lot looking at them, they appear to be in the same category, interior can truly be different, but when they look the same size, you have to ask why. If I remember correctly, I believe GM gets to make the "full size" claim on a technicality that includes the size of the trunk. That is just sad!

  20. WHY WHY WHY? Am I the only person that really does not see the need for the Impala and Malibu? I am totally turned off by the overly busy interior and the blah exterior. This is not a car, not even a hazbeen. Why keep both, why not retire this ugly car and focus on much better Malibu or retire the Malibu and focus on a much better Impala. What is so hard about accepting the fact that you have two cars in the same bloody segment. Personally, Malibu has a far better perception I believe. They should expand and have a full line up of this car and then do a Special edition of the Malibu that is performance oriented and call it the Impala SS. No other options other than a fully loaded tuned Impala SS. So line up is as Such: Impala SS - Top of the line Malibu LTZ Malibu 2LT Malibu 1LT Malibu LS Malibu L Malibu Eco 7 Models to rule them all.

  22. Bringing this up is like comparing fuel economy to cup holders. Gasoline packs the highest reasonably safe power density.Electricity/Batteries do not. The Volt marketing does not tout the ability for the Volt to forsake the electrical cord and run on butterfly farts because, at present, you cannot buy a Volt ready to run on butterfly farts or the parts to convert the Volt to use butterfly farts. And it will take a decade for GM to engineer these changes and get the EPA and PETA to play along. In the meantime, somebody discovers a way to make economic synthetic gasoline and all GM's Volt technology becomes an overgrown E-Assist (for butterfly farts). Sythetic gas is like cold fusion, not a true thing yet and we have a far superior logical step. NATURAL GAS, or CNG. The Volt is a perfect way to move to auto's that have a kinder foot print on the planet and what really needs to happen is for GM to do the Volt in Car, CUV, MiniVan and Small Truck platform but use a CNG Generator. This way you have a very high density of power since CNG is 130 Octane right from the ground and is very clean only 1/3 the polution of Gas. The US has the worlds largest reserves and we can get long distance auto's with very clean emissions. Such high octane also allows for smaller yet more power dense engines because they can be run at much higher compression. The GM 4-cylinders in Brazil all run 12:1 compression ratio (same as the M5 V-10) because they run alcohol in their engines down there. Could we not have a Generator that is about half the size and weight of a traditional 4 banger running at 20:1 powering these auto's and with the lighter weight the MPG goes up more.
  23. WOW, both are such pathetic actors. The script is totally comedy funny, but the poor Impala! The comment "Think you can still see Russia from your house." is too funny. Sad that they send home a message of give up American products for sending your money over seas. Yes there are jobs here on the production line for Asian companies, but they still send the profits back overseas where it helps out their motherland more than ours. Kid Rock, why did you not show going to a Chevy Dealership and getting a Volt! that would have really made a solid message of Americans United.
  24. They can get away with new front clips, skins and taillights as long as the interior is world class leading. If all they do is minor interior update tweaks, then GM is falling into old bad habits.
  25. WOW, totally cool, but I am concerned this will die on the vine as with this global economy, I question is now is the right time to offer a kit like this. Many of us would love to have a hummer kit to go on our favorite 4x4 setup, yet I am in no position to spend money on a project like this till I see stability in the national and global job market. Rather sit on my money and save it in case I need it to live.
