As seen on the internet....CTS coupe w/ carriage roof
G. David Felt replied to Robert Hall's topic in The Lounge
+2 This is just a tragedy! I can say that this look that baby boomers love will disappear over the next few years and I hope go away for good. Odd..never thought of that a boomer thing, thought it was the previous generation that was into that cheese...the older fogies. Around here it seems to be guys in their late 60s and 70s w/ the DTSes w/ the 'carriage roofs', gold trim, wide whitewalls, etc. Yup those are the tail end of the baby boomers. My own parents fall into that category and when I first bought them the CTS when it first came out my dad asked about having this done and I told him no way I was going to destroy a awesome car by doing that. -

Totally agree, this is more cult than religion and with no common sense, I think their other kids are in danger. I do not agree with this probation. These people killed their son.

BMW News: Rumorpile: BMW’s Diesel Plans On A Powerpoint Slide
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in BMW
why? station wagons are so uggg. I would rather have the same space in a CUV and sit up higher with a better line of sight. I think this falls into the "different strokes for different folks" category. I would much rather have a sport wagon than a CUV. I like the handling characteristics of the wagon better and could care less about sitting up high. BTW - where are GM, Ford and Chrysler with the passenger car diesels? I guess they are still convinced Americans won't buy them even though it is a pretty damn high take rate on VW/Audi. Let's hope the diesel Cruze sells well enough to change their minds. I agree with the Cruze, I hope the Diesel sells out so that it is heavily backordered and makes them rethink diesel. In regards to the SUV versus wagon, I agree different strokes for different folks. Then you would all be happy to give up a wagon if you had the Typhoon or Trailblazer SS? Those AWD SUV's totally rock for space and performance with a bit higher sitting line of site. -

Should GM build a "Premium" version of the LT1 for Cadillac?
G. David Felt replied to dwightlooi's topic in Cadillac
Heh. Paint the air cleaner and valve covers gold or sump'n'. Just cover it in Carbon Fiber with Gold Emblems and it is taken care of. When was the last time a 1/10th of 1% rich person ever took their MB S series plastic engine covers off and said OMG, that is the same engine from the E series. Return it! -
That is what I love about airtools, they have one that pops out those rivets mighty fast. I agree, the bean counters are too blame for this shortcut.

Poll: Did you pass your driver test the first time?
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in The Lounge
Greatest thing about SUV's is the ability to drive up on the curb with the front tire and pop down and be nice and close without a bunch of hassle with the back and forth of traditional parallel parking. That reminds me of the Ford Pickup I had with 3 on the Tree. I used it for my drivers license test and I remember the guy who tested me, besides being a jerk was surprised to see a truck like that. Guess he did not get around many types of trucks. 3 on the Tree was awesome to drive. I do miss those trucks. -
Your Awesome Drew!!!

Not to mention the safety issue of these peeps who can barely see over the dash due to being so reclined as it being just stupid.

Yes, I learned at age 12 to help my dad move cars around his garage that he worked on for customers. Still took drivers ed as it is required in Washington state even back in the late 70's to be able to get a drivers license. Passed the written 100%, missed 1 item of all the items they test you on when actually driving. Your allowed to miss two and I was pissed when the tester failed me for parallel parking as he said I was not the required 6" from the curb. I was madder than hell as I was straight and close and he felt it was not good enough and yet how many people can really parallel park. I am crazy about the details. Was so pissed with him. But I got my license and took off out of there and went for a nice long ride in my 76 Series 5 LUV truck! Bad Ass Truck it was. -
What are your automotive purchase plans?
G. David Felt replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in The Lounge
Nothing planned for now, would like to get me an 86 Monte Carlo SS Aero and rebuild it with a proper GM crate motor to turn it into a sleeper. -
That baby could so use some TLC and be a freakin amazing truck again. WOW, have not seen one of those babies in a long time.

So then, this is a weak area in my mind, so what most people here are saying is a ZF tranny is built by the company called Aisins? I have heard many good things about ZF tranny's but never heard Aisins before so just want to make sure I have my tribal knowledge right!

I don't how they get registered either, but I've seen a couple around the Phoenix area w/ AZ plates, and a couple w/ Mexico plates... In the last two years Washington state has seen a rapid growth of the Hispanic community. With it is a few ram-chargers from Mexico. All they have to do here and I suspect the same in California and Arizona is pass a State trooper safety inspection and emissions and if all passes, then they get a state licenses.

TOTALLY ROCKS!!! GO GMC!!! I would be a total GMC only fan if I was not such a big GM fan. I would have loved to add to my GMC family of auto's but sadly no new Typhoon so I had to settle for the lovely Trailblazer SS. Just so many lovely GM auto's. Spread the Love. I totally agree with you on the art of the old and new logo. That hat really Rocks. Enjoy it as you deserve it.

Honda Previews The 2013 Civic Before The LA Auto Show: Comments

Yawn, Exterior is just evolutionary. See if the gawd awful interior is truly redone. -
Could go either way, best year ever or worst. This tranny could be way better than what GM builds since it has already been out in other auto for a while. Bigger issue is once they go to their own GM engineered tranny, how long will parts really be available for this one year off unit and ouch when you get an idiot mechanic who does not pay close attention to this and trys to fix it based on what is going on with the GM tranny. I will wait and see as like I said, this could be amazing or a blow up. True if this one year use of tranny is a derivative of what BMW is using, then it should not have any problems. Course the programming will be very different so it will be interesting to see who GM does.

Yeah, the rims are absolutely terrible. They're ugly beyond ugly. That's why I'll be replacing the rims with a set of these soon: I've always liked Year One's 17" Rally Rim reproductions and considered buying a set for my old black Turdmaro. That's what will be going on this car. That's a seat from either a late '90s Grand Prix or early 2000's Impala, I believe. Yes, I said a seat. The previous owner started to replace the original worn out ones and stopped at the driver's seat. I still have the original driver's seat, but I'm not sure I'm going to reupholster it, the passenger side seat, or the rear seat bottoms. I'm open to criticism here, but I'm thinking a set of Recaros out of a Cobalt SS may be what I use to replace the front seats, if not at least a set of seats out of a fourth-gen F-Body. Of course, they'll be recovered with more factory-style coverings. I do plan on reusing at least the back of the rear seat. I'm afraid so. I have no idea who in the hell made those things, but I'd like to hope that they've went out of buisness. We'll get there sometime this winter I hope. So far, I'm planning on painting the car black and adding a custom hood and lower body side graphics, although I'm also considering a few Holden-sourced paint options as well. As far as the body goes, it's 85 percent straight and 85 percent rust free. None of your typical F-Body rust has gotten to the rocker panels or any of the rear sheetmetal. The floorpans do have some very mild rust issues (which second-gen F-Body car doesn't?), but that's no big deal. I can spend $200 bucks on so on a new set from Camaro Central, which is luckily located about 15 miles away from me (and that also means I'll get to save a buttload of cash on shipping working on this car). Sounds Very Cool, I would like to suggest you keep a running blog here with pictures so we can all lust after this baby being brought back to a high standard of BAD!
