An automotive lament by some friends of mine
G. David Felt replied to Camino LS6's topic in The Lounge
So very true!!! Though some times you do find a diamond in the rough. -
It would be nice to see what other charging stations people have around the country and post pictures or see if they are covered up with garbage bags like my park and ride lot does. FYI, I checked in with the city asking if there had been any use of them since the news covered the official ceremony and they were turned on. The lady said that since that initial day there has been no use of them. WOW, spend tax payer dollars on items that no body needs, cause the auto industry knows better than to produce a pure electric car that will not sell.

BMW News: BMW 3-Series, Sorry 4-Series Coupe Gets Leaked
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in BMW
Is that how old that interior is? I was wondering where the hell it came from considering the parts bin thrown together look of old and older.- 12 replies

I tend to agree with you on the comment re the Regal's interior. Opel offers a beige interior in the Insignia, is that interior color availabe in the Regal? The Regal interior comes in beige too, but just overall, the Regal inside and out (being an Opel) has a Euro sport sedan look. It doesn't really fit with what Buick is trying to be, as the softer side of American Luxury and going after that baby boomer and older group that may otherwise buy a Toyota/Lexus or Chrysler or Lincoln. Who ever said Buick is trying to go after the baby boomer market. Sorry but mostly they are dead and set with their final auto's to take them to the grave. Auto makers better damn well focus on those generations that still have earning potential and years left before retirement. The 30-50 crowd wants nothing to do with the Cush Float coccon ride of the baby boomers.

Chevrolet News:Chevrolet Readying A Malibu Refresh For 2013
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
When you CEO says the car is OK but the refresh will be OK as it is a segment they need to compete in, this does not leave me with a rosy feeling that they are in it to win it. Some times I wonder if GM should not be broken up into 3 car companies Chevy, Buick/GMC and Cadillac. Ohh wait they are supposed to be that with the power to reduce costs as they bring out better product. Still waiting on this for some models. -
BMW News: BMW 3-Series, Sorry 4-Series Coupe Gets Leaked
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in BMW
While the exterior body work is nice and a good evolution of the 3 series, the interior especially the dash is a mosh posh of mix and match and really does not flow or blend well and just comes across to me as an after thought. I do not think BMW will be that successful in selling people on this 4 series at a higher price compared to keeping them where they should have kept it as part of the 3 series family. Guess the German lemmings that are 5'8" tall on average will love it and still buy it even when they have to depart with an extra 5 or 10K.- 12 replies

Buick Week: 2013 Buick Verano Turbo First Drive
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Reviews
Nice write up, sounds like Buick has a true winner that will meet many peoples needs for a compact near luxury ride. This should compete and win sales from Acura, Lexus and Infinity. Nice to see Buick doing to the mid market segment what ATS is doing the top level luxury segment.- 16 replies

Considering the large finds off the coast of Brazil, we have hardly truly check the whole planet and I think there is far more than we know in the ground, but considering that Natural Gas is a much cleaner source, we might as well just move over to CNG auto's and CNG Power Plants. Define "large finds" when referencing the finds off the coast of Brazil.... the "find" there doesn't even land in the top 40 in terms of total oil field size.... and it is a mile deep in the ocean. I am going by this Bloomberg story and others over the last 12 months that seem to feel Brazil now has bigger oil reserves than Venezuela. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-01-19/brazil-oil-fields-may-hold-more-than-twice-estimated-reserves.html Nothing is for Certian till it is pumped.

How was the fit and finish of these models? Did everything feel solid to you? I wonder how this will sale in comparison to the Acadia when they are side by side. Comparing this to the Acadia Pics I uploaded from the Seattle Auto Show leaves this car with some glaring omisions. My gut tells me GMC will win between these two, but this comparison while a solid review does not seem to deliver a the goods.

I wonder how much of this discovery is manipulated by the Planet lovers that refuse to allow us to test and tap sources in off limit areas. So much money is spent on fighting the oil users of the world and coal users and yet they also fight to keep from going to a cleaner source such as CNG. Both electrical production and auto's would run so much cleaner on CNG.

Interactive Review: 2013 Cadillac ATS 3.6L AWD
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Reviews
I answered this before, but here it is again: a large empty storage space containing a single USB plug in the rear. Found a pic: Source: http://www.carrentin...l-luxury-trim/# WOW, I was in so many ATS at the Customer Apprciation night and NO ONE, not a single sales person or the GM CUE reps ever said there was a storage bin there and it does not look like that interface would be a door. That is amazing, but also sad as the CD player should really be there.- 48 replies

November 2012 - American Suzuki Motor Corporation
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in 2012 Sales Archive
WOW 22% increase in sales! O'hh wait they are bankrupt, dead product line and the sales numbers still do not support a product road map in America. My bad.- 2 replies

Subaru News: Subaru Increases The Amount Of BRZs To The U.S.
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Subaru
This is just a temporary bump, I do not expect to see this continue as the car is a niche and once the initial demand is met, then it will fall back to slow low levels of sales. Today's people have many other things than a sporty two door, two person run about that cannot haul anything other than people. This is my only concern about GM doing their version is can it really be supported by the population or will it be a niche auto that will be a drain on the cash flow? -
Love the auto's, like Balthazar I do love the last one especially since it is not sitting on the freakin ground. Not every auto needs to be Cig pack high or lower. Never been a fan of laying the frame on the ground. No purpose or usability there to me. These are some lovely rides Thanks for posting.

Interactive Review: 2013 Cadillac ATS 3.6L AWD
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Reviews
after having my CD collection smashed by an accident, I have come to appreciate keeping the masters at home, rip the songs onto a USB drive, SD card or my Zune and play them in the car. More music, greater variety and no chance of the cd's getting borken, warped or messed up. For me, I have moved beyond the CD drive need in an Auto. I will say I do wonder what is behind the dash in the ATS that they could not have had the drive mounted there leaving more room in the glove box.- 48 replies

I can see Telsa becoming a division of GM, moved into the Caddy Family as a special sub division and then the technology used to move Volt everywhere with longer battery life and reducing the price greatly.
-
Very True, distinct design language that is clean and Identifiable. All GM models should strive for that individual goal.
