WOW, Love the comparison of all the dashes. Best are GMC/Chevy and then RAM. Worst is a tie with Toyota / Ford. The others are just ugly and pathetic. Clearly no one really spends any time reviewing their dashes for a quality interaction experiance.

Infiniti News: Infiniti Changes Their Nomenclature To Q and QX
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Infiniti
Johan de Nysschen, President of Infiniti Motor Company Limited, said: “Over the past few months, we have talked at length with our retailers, our customers, and our business partners about our brand. The need for a new identity and direction to promote consumer familiarity with our model range as we expand the portfolio became evident. To achieve this, we clearly needed a simple and consistent nomenclature framework. After exhaustive research and evaluation, we concluded that ‘Q’ captured the inspiration within the next generation of Infiniti models, as well as emphasizing our performance credentials while harking back to our heritage with the Q45 – Infiniti’s first iconic flagship product in 1989.” Interesting that so many tweets and Facebook ask the same question of what does Q and QX stand for. There are many who point to the original start of the Q cars standing for Quality and the X for cross over, but then that fails for the QX 80 which is a real SUV. Interesting that in the presidents comments he never mentions quality only familiarity and performance. Weird way to do this. I suspect Infinity has lost their way and some marketing idiot could only think up bringing back the old Q naming convention rather than actually think up a new and striking product line and names. -
What to do is use an Android phone that is capable of running Chrome browser. Chrome will render most IE-only website correctly. LOL except Cheers and gears, I have my Samsung with Andriod and Chrome and I find it so hard to find things and pictures on it. Then I tried to go to Hollywood.com and show the wife the new superman trailer and it would not play. Then off to snocon.com to register to make sure I start getting the emails about sales on ski gear and it would not allow me to finish the registration process. So far, I am less than impressed with Smart phones for web browsing or checking out web sites. So far, phone, IM, email and email that brings up news stories especially formated for the smartphones is about all I can seem to get that succeed. As a computer engineer, I become more and more disillusioned with how technology does NOT speed things up or make life any easier.

GM News: Next-Gen GM SUVs To Appear In 2014
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
Interesting that the 800 and 900's series reversed the release of the SUV's and trucks. -
Well... if it does not have the merits discussed -- frictional minimalization, power density, mass efficiency and cost effectiveness -- why does it have the aftermarket clout to begin with? LOL, Those are all the great Marketing Lies of why people push the crappy DOHC v8's. They have high horsepower with sucky Torque and are average at best. Also I have yet to see DOHC engines last 500,000 miles or a million miles or more. Sorry still not sold on DOHC garbage.

Jaguar News: Jaguar Says Future Models Will Get An AWD Option
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Jaguar
Guess I missed that one as I never knew Jag to have AWD. -
I look forward to seeing pictures and a long term write up on what holds up versus what does not. Have you decided on colors yet and package details?

I actually like the 2014 dash the best! 2004 to 2012 was not really much different, but I do like the 2014 looking at it in this perspective.

Stopped by Verizon and played with the New Nokia Windows phone, that is pretty cool. Told them they need to bring in the 900 series as I do not want the 800 series phone, I want the better screen on the 900. They said people are not willing to pay the 3-400 dollars it would cost here in America unlike in Europe. I shook my head and said who ever told him that is an idiot and Verizon mgmt / executives are idiots if they do not think people will buy the 900 here. It is an awesome phone. Now I have to wait and see what I want to do as my phone is up in January and I am not sure what to do. So far been burned by HTC too many times, hate that Google android phones while working well just do not properly show web sites especially when the company has only standardized and support IE. What to do? What to do?

Unable to sleep? Possibly a late-year addition? My Chilton's only lists the 151 & 301 Pontiac engines available in an Olds, in fact it lists NO 400 for '75-82 inclusive. I see the online O-75 brochure lists the 350 & 455 for the 88, and the 400 or 455 for the 98. Specs changed often in the mid-70s, that's for sure. While the doc's might not list the 400 online for the 88, I truly believe that some parts/options got cross swapped between the models as I do remember our Olds Dealership talking about getting custom ordered cars with options that were not ordered on them and only showed up on other models. It was a crazy time for placing custom ordered cars.

That's pretty much my experience with the iPhone. I recommend it too Except the IPhone is great at passing on Viruses, removing everyone from Outlook calendar events, does not sync with security proticols and for those of us that are not graphically induced to follow a lemming company on what you can and cannot do confusing. Before the Flame mail starts, check out apples web site as they admit with the iPhone 5 they broke security and outlook exchange email. Isilon a company I work for has plenty of apple products and so many peole have gotten things screwed up due to all the bugs in the 5. I suggest holding off till after the new year if you want a iPhone 5 and give them time to fix all the bugs. I've been happy w/ my work iPhone 5...my company does everything w/ gmail and Google docs, no old-school MS stuff... You actually like Gmail and Google docs???? The gmail interface sucks, not user friendly IMO and Google Doc's has so many limitations that you cannot really use it for group work. Sorry, but I will stay with Sharepoint and Office Professional as the only real business tools and exchange.

Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra Live Reveal
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Chevrolet
At this point you have the two camps of I like, I do not like. We just need to wait for the actual hands on reviews and get them on the lots for people to kick the tires and light the fires and then we will see how they really do! -
Interactive Review: 2013 Volvo S60 T6 AWD R-Design
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Reviews
Interior size, can a 6'6" tall person sit in the car upright or would they have be slightly reclined? Can people really sit in the rear seats? Fit and Finish of inside and outside, are they keeping up the quality or are their gaps and misalignments? Do you feel it has improved since the Ford ownership days or gone down and this performance edition is just an exception. Do you think the gas pedal issue is an actual mechanical issue or a programing issue? Is is drive by wire or actually a real cable to the throttle body? Based on my last question, is this a DI engine or not? Idle, is it smooth or does it have a bit of performance roughness to it? What is the sound of the Exhaust at normal driving and under hard excelleration? Besides the rear blind spots, can you tell where the corners of the car are or does it slop off and leave you with a vague sense of being there but not really sure where the car corners are? -
Yes from my recollection it was. Quadrajet Rocked Course with gas being around 65 cents a gallon most people did not complain, but my dad being the spend thrift person he was always wanted maximum performance with maximum mileage. I remember when the 88 became mine later on in Highschool I put a hi performance Holley carb on it. It was so fun with long throw headers and a few other performance items. 70's rocked.
-
Your not a geek and your not wrong. My dad always complained about the fact that our 88 had the 400 with a 2v carb and the 98 that we also owned had the same 400 but with the 4v carb. He eventually went out and bought an after market carb for the 88 as the 4v version had better gas mileage than the 2v version.

Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra Live Reveal

In general a truck with new styling to reflect that it is a totally new truck vs a new truck that appears more to look like a refresh of the old one. With all the new features it deserved it's own look and not just a rehash of the old one. What if they had redone a totally new Impala and it just looked like the one we have had for years? Not a smart move. Only the 911 and Mini can get away with this kind of styling. Not seeing what you're referring to with "this kind" of styling. Yet, we'll see the sales numbers on these in time. I'm going to predict they'll do very well. AFA the theory that it needs to 'look completely different to suck buyers in'- truck shoppers are a LOT more savvy than Impala buyers, without question. And the impulse segment of trucks buyers is a lot smaller than that for cars, as past sales numbers show. It's not the same demo as car buyers and the same tricks aren't absolutely necessary. Think about how many manufacturers intro new engines in mid-cycle without changing styling. Yet the G500 has continued to sell well on the same old style for ever. Mercedes and BMW have kept close to the same style with just minor tweeks over the last 20 years. I understand that some wanted GM to do a Love it or Hate it look like the original Ram when it came out with the big truck look. Yet with that stated, these evolutionary trucks I predict will sell very well and be around for a long time. -

This dash reminds me of the Aliens Mouth. The Nav/Control system is just pushing out through the dash/ face. So I guess Lexus went Predator on their auto's with the fronts and GM is going Aliens with their Dash. -
Dreams never die, they just get bigger and more detailed.

Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra Live Reveal

For my part, I was expecting a more distinctive design - one that parted ways with the 900s in an unmistakable way. I will say that a Mini Pickup truck with a 1000lb hauling load capacity would fullfill most home buyers needs rather than the massive large trucks that are currently being built. This truck with a 2.8L Turbo Duramax Diesel Engine would kick ass in the US. That's Corsa-based... a 2.8L Turbodiesel's torque would break it apart... Come on with a good boxed frame, think of how this baby would fly with all that Torque! Ultimate torque monster with awesome gas mileage. Then I could convert it to be CNG/Diesel mix 90/10 mixture and really drive it cheap. -

I expect GM to keep the full option list on the HD's after all bundling too much luxury junk will be a bad move for GM as too many companies need specific spec HD trucks for work. -
Just think how nice your Camino LS6 would run on CNG 130 Octane fuel. Better yet get the SS version with the LS9 running on CNG.
