  2. Happy B-Day Ocn, you deserve a great day.
  3. Those CTS Video's Rock and I love the growl of the V6 Turbo. I am excited to see it in person.
  4. Guess I am not reading between the lines as I did not see anyone cringe??????
  5. No Benefit? Really, you must be sleeping Ocnblu, while I know you do not care for anything hybrid, GM has a great powertrain that in realworld AWD mode has been returning 21/22 mpg on a Heavy SUV. This is way better than what I am reading of people who drive the turbo V6 engined trucks. I think Loki has a great Idea of replacing the 6.0 in the Hybrid with this 5.3. The trucks/suv's with a base Hybrid power-train would have been a big game changer and marketing move that would have really gotten notice. So many of us have talked about how GM needs to take bigger risks and really make game changer moves that can allow them to grow market share and lead the auto industry rather than just be another also ran. These trucks need to be just that, if not a hybrid power train, then a V6 Duramax Diesel would have been the right move.
  6. This will be interesting to watch as I expect this company to be gone by summer, but the technology in one form or another will live on. The EPA requirements and the new tussle between China and the US over China Tech purchases will make this a hard sell I think now. I am also not sure that any American company would want to buy this up any longer compared to building their own solution in house. I am finding little of value now in this company.
  7. Sounds like the software programming challange has just been thrown down on who can crack their code first to free up the extra range.
  8. H'mmmmm I was totally stumped by the Twink comment and had to bing it. You really think the jelly bean style of code 130RS is more a man car compared to the sharper edge Tru? Do not get me wrong they are both great cars that I think has a place in the auto world, but considering how people seem to see things, woman see things more flowing and curved and soft like the 130RS body and men tend to like more scifi sharp edged etc. I know it is a broad stroke brushed analogy, but it is one I see more often than not of who is driving what regardless of FWD or RWD, just going on style alone. Uh ... okayyyy then. Consider my jimmies rustled. Imma just leave this right'chere. Granted, the Tru140S is a little better executed than the Eclipse, but a rubber duck is still a rubber duck (especially when it's yellow). I see the Eclipse more in line with the 130RS due to the curves of the body style than the sharp edge tru. Agree to disagree with what you see here.
  9. Interesting Drew, I guess I missed that in my reading as I did not know that. Sucks to be them as they say. Still my gut tells me this will not really work out well for any company.
  10. But the gas mileage is not great for real world driving of the V6. I think the towing capability is just fine as an entry level power train. Cost would drop greatly once they started to reproduce the Hybrid power train in larger quantity and I think they could beef it up to allow it to handle the torque needed to pull large trailers. Just look at the Diesel Electric trains. Diesel Generators driving electric motors pulling millions of pounds of weight. I still think GM could have really hit a solid home run by taking the Hybrid as the default power train in their trucks and SUV's.
  11. The Tru actually has a bit of Lambo in the nose with the headlights and I can see this one as being more of a Man 2dr. The R I can see being more popular with woman.
  12. I am really interested in if I am the only person that believes GM could make a major impact by making their Hybrid system the standard default power train for Trucks and SUV's. I really think based on the numbers Ford has put out, that GM should use this as the base powertrain rather than wasting money on a V6 that really is not going to have much of a change in MPG but have what I think will be a shorter life span.
  13. Cyprus is a poor example, but one that is current in the minds of people on how badly debt is being handled. According to the full story, there is Fiats assembly plants to go with the parts plant and the Alfa name/product. So no matter how one looks at this, there is change coming and Fiat is in a bind to try and grasp 100% of Chrysler from the Union to get the freedom to do what it wants with Chrysler in the US. I see major change coming and I do not see the powerful Italian Unions willing to give up anything.
  14. The Automakers are going to have to really work hard to prove that the V6 engines can survive the abuse that V8's tend to get in the real world for hauling/towing.
  15. I agree that the bump in HP and Torque are great for the fuel economy, but I think they could have had a bigger bang for their buck by standardizing the Hybrid power train across all trucks and SUV's. The hauling capacity and towing of the Hybrid is proven and this would have been great marketing Green creds for GM. The Hybrid powertrain being the default powertrain would have been far more impressive and truly would have set GM apart than this whole mess with the V6 engines. To me GM is just coping Ford since Ford did it first. GM could have been first to just make a 21/22mpg powertrain for all their trucks and SUV's. I suspect this number would have gone up for 2WD models since the 21/22mpg is for awd / 4x4 models. Still happy but could have been really exciting if they had broke with following the trends and really set a leadership roll.
  16. I can see your point as it does fit that mode well, but then the Vibe/Matrix at least seems to stick in my mind more. Not sure why this just seems blah.
  17. How much Debt can these companies really handle and the bank system? The current financial mess of Europe is going to still explode even bigger as we see the Euro Union about to fail. Cypress just proves that having your cake and eat it too is not a reality and the people are not going to absorb the losses nor will the rich or the Gov. Eventually this will blow up and could take down VW/Audi. Right now the unions and the promise of jobs is killing the ability for businesses to survive and make the real cuts in production capacity. One company off loads productions capacity and it becomes a mess for another and no real gain is made. I see no benefit to Audi to get production capacity for Alfa when they already have plenty in place.
  18. Over all this is pretty impressive in keeping prices contained but the v8 I am actually not impressed with. We had this fuel economy numbers back in the 90's so I really do not see any big deal here. No Auto Maker has really made any strides in improving the v8 fuel efficiency. Their 18/19 combined MPG being either 2wd/4wd is on par with what we were getting 15 years ago. If they really wanted to make a difference, take the Tahoe\Yukon\Escalade Hybrid system and make it the default standard on all their trucks/SUV's so they really get a 21/22 MPG average and then go from there.
  19. Why does this smell of Musical Chairs of the ubber Rich working to hide assets and money all while saying they are doing their best to save jobs and raise capital? This also tends to tell me that if the Alfa does return to the US, it will have shortcuts that will hinder it from surviving long and bring back the horror stories of their last time here in the US. This deal just tends to raise red flags for me about the true nature of what is really going on here when you have such a financial mess going on in Europe.
  20. Does it really matter how one pronounces it as long as all love it?
  21. Time for Kermie to die, send it to the scrap yard in the sky and leave it to a note in the history books.
  22. interesting little bugger, but too rusty for me.
  23. wow first time I have ever seen this caprice station wagon. Never saw them here on the west coast. Some big time rust on that rear passenger quarter panel below and of course the dents in the rear door and front driver side front end. This car just needs to be a footnote in the history pages. Nothing special here to save.
  24. The Tucker is an awesome car, I would never have it on my ugly list.
  25. Happy B Day DodgeFan.
