Not sure what glue this guy is sniffing as DOHC has never outperformed a traditional pushrod. They have lots of HP and very little Torque and as such require masses of fuel and other gadgetry to make them fly. Yes I know many will point to all the exotic cars and even Porsche with their DOHC motors, but when you get it down to a basic motor, they all fail when you compare raw basic output compared to a pushrod.

Very Cool!

My fear is that these entry level turbo cars will lul people into a false sense of security and then when they really need instant power they end up in an accident. I personally do not feel these cars are really all that safe on todays freeways.

But the AMG will not bring down the mighty MB like the Aztec did to Pontiac. Course more than just that turd was to blame for Pontiac's death.

I am so shocked it could actually handle the weight. Usually those steel box's filled with tools are freakin heavy. Pretty darn good shape for the area with all the road salt they put down. This just again confirms my belief that they need mini pickups back in the market for sale. -

I agree with what Drew said, I wonder if this is a demo car that has not been kept clean and updated as the new CUE updated interface is really good compared to the prior version. In regards to the rear seat, all three for me are the same, once it is setup for a 6'6" tall person no one can sit behind me. Is a much shorter person is driving I can fit in the back of all three but the BMW has the least amount of headroom and then it is a tie between the Audi and Cadillac. From a Power Performance stand point, the ATS wins hands down. Far superior driving machine compared to the other two.

Jaguar News: Rumorpile: Jaguar Begins Work On A SUV
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Jaguar
I normally would want to say that a ubber luxury car company should stay focused on what they do best, but we all know the profits that are here and I like the style Jag has so I am excited to see their SUV. It has to be better than the mess that Bently or Rolls had that is still supposedly moving forward. -
Chrysler News: Fiat Increases Its Stake In Chrysler
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Chrysler
You could be right that Fiat wants to try and crack the nut again of the US market, but then they are going to have to change their designs as currently the Fiat lineup will not appeal to the majority of the US population. Then again, they could be looking to do what Europe really needs to do and that is close down the over capacity production lines and lay off people and this could allow them to swallow and consolidate and force change that gov's have been fighting just for political survival. I think the next 3-5 years we will still see 2-3 more companies go to the History books as the global corporations consolidate and streamline product plans. Next big hiccup will come from China where they have a ton of gov supported car companies that are cloning what is in the market already and once they try to push out beyound China, some will make it and most will die. -
I agree with Drew and many others here that this is a perfect chance for GM to use the Opel Division to build a global compact to large van line that would compete rather than re-badge an ugly, very ugly Peugeot or Fiat which I just do not see what is so great about those vans after looking at all the links. It just makes me want to

Was at the Home Depot this morning and ran into these two old Beauties. Have to admit, never heard or seen the red car that parked next to me. Anyone have any info on it? -
So I found over at the Dodge Forum an interesting read on their Question of the Week: Is there a chance in Hell that Dodge brings back the Demon? http://dodgeforum.com/articles/queston-of-the-week-is-there-a-chance-in-hell-that-dodge-brings-back-the-demon/ This write up is an interesting one and the pictures of the writer existing 72 Demon is very cool. This got me to thinking what the writer did not cover. If Dodge does a Demon Edition of the Dodge Dart, besides Body Modifications what type of motor, transmission, driveline, etc should this special hell on wheels have? What would you the potential buyer want in a limited edition version like this?

I can state for a fact that Hybrid is the farthest thing from the gates mind as Bill has 3 Porsche 959 that he drives around here and you see him drive them with his wife to the Crab Cracker in Kirkland where he eats 1-2 times a week. His wife drove an econo car at MSFT but then even that changed once they married and no one has seen them around here driving hybrids. All 3 cars I see as a waste of resources but then with the profits some of these companies make especially Porsche they can afford to waste some.

Chrysler News: Fiat Increases Its Stake In Chrysler
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Chrysler
Again with the tin-foil hat... :tinfoil: VEBA is not managed by the UAW though the UAW is the primary beneficiary. VEBA is the vehicle to distribute contractual benefits to retirees and former employees of Chrysler and GM. It is not meant to be an indefinite fund and they do need the cash to pay those benefits. Selling those shares was planned from the start... the only reason this is news is because Fiat will be the largest purchaser. We'll if I have a Tin Hat on so be it, but the way the media has stated this left me with the impression that VEBA and the UAW were joined at the hip as one big group different divisions. I appreciate the clarity as I had not heard it put this way before. Still sad that they could not think of a way to hold onto shares as part of the investment portfolio that generates the funds to pay the retire benefits. -
The price of the S series, do these 1/10th of 1% people really care about hybrids?

They used the name of the old Opel Monza https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8d/Opel_Monza_GSE_vl_white_TCE.jpg That looks like an old 80's Chevy. Forgot the name of the one but I clearly remember this car as a Chevy I think from the 80's. Interesting in that when I did a image search by google and Bing that neither ever brought this car up for me but the older Chevy Monza Prototypes. The no variants of Monza and Senator were ever sold here, but certain versions of them look like an '84 Ford LTD mated with a Plymouth Reliant. OK, I was off by a few years but the 1977 Chevy Monza is what the opel reminds me off.

I choose to Disagree with you Drew All my travel to Europe has pounded into me a clear attitude of driving is for the well paid mass transit is for the rest or a solid moped. So this is my perception and take on spending 15-20% of my life at trade shows around Europe. For those that do drive, they accept compact or sub compact diesel and the high prices that go with it. That stated, in the US and this is probably colored by living in a state with high fuel tax's and a big Hi-tech industry that most people here in talking with them do not consider diesel in these two categories of cars. Due to a much higher than average income many have already moved up scale in the auto scene. In regards to my comment on the obese auto's and their nanny devices, I am not the only one here that has complained about the waist line of the auto's getting thicker and the crazy required electronic devices. But then it was just my personal take on what I see and interpet. Thanks for the UFO Blast as I do miss them not visiting me as often as they did back in the 90's.

Who makes the Sears Platinum Gel Pack Die Hard batteries as I am really impressed with them. Wish GM would put the Gel Pack batteries in their SUV's and top of the line auto's as I think with all the electronics, having the extra CCA is worth it. Just had to replace the 5yr old GM battery in my 2008 Trailblazer SS and WOW what a difference, I can now tell that over the last year, all the weird electrical issues were clearly the battery slowly dying. Will remember for the future to only go 4yrs before replacing them.

Vehicle: Volkswagen Beetle TDi (2013)

Washington state currently with our one of the highest gas tax's in the nation is at a pathetic $3.78 per gallon for 87 octane gas as of this morning. Diesel is currently $4.07 per gallon. Natural gas CNG is currently $2.09 per gallon. http://www.gasbuddy.com/ Found Gasbuddy.com to be a great place to find low priced fuel. -
Your plans Drew sound awesome. You have done an amazing job, please take a few days to truly have some Drew Days to yourself. Nothing wrong with being a bit selfish in needing some personal time to veg, go do something special with someone or just take that well deserved mental break. If there is anything I can do, please just ask. Thank you for all you have done.

Chrysler News: Fiat Increases Its Stake In Chrysler

Sad that the Unions have no interest in having ownership in the company they work for. The Union Leaders just want the cash to squander and then later on tell the people that paid in there is nothing left for them after they have used up the money. I see this not ending well for the union.
